This is incredible I like your design and how you put user first and also doing one single page application I don't which framework are using but this is really amazing ❤
Thank you it's taken a while to get to this point, but there is still a long way to go. Hoping to get a few customers / demos before the end of the year.
I appreciate the side by side comparison. Interlu search takes a bit, maybe adding some caching so results come back quicker. At 5:03 - when you mention clicking into a different company, could look cleaner if the previous company you searched closed so you can now just see the one company you clicked on to reduce clutter. Thanks for sharing this, as a fellow developer, I love to see what others are working on.
I'm aware of the delay with the search, I'm currently working on ways to make it faster. Good point about closing the previous company page, something to think about for sure! 👌
you could go with some caching for the available companies, elastic search or semantic search could be an add on where a user could get search result by context
I very much could, all will be investigated once I speak to some users. I don't want to keep adding features if no one ever uses them. Thanks for your comment 🙏
YC school is emphasizing the importance of assigning a price to your product rather than offering it for free when launching. They believe that assigning value to your product helps in validating the idea and encourages potential users to perceive its worth. Btw, highly recommend to watch that school playlist. Yes, government site might offer data for free, but providing enhanced interface around that data is a valuable service. Even if the data itself is accessible elsewhere, the way you package, present, and provide access to it is your product's unique selling proposition.
how does this look like a great product with good potential? sorry i'm not intending to hate but why would anyone use his app over just... going to the gov website ? after all, all he is doing is copying the same data and displaying it on his UI instead of the gov's...
@@depralexcrimson From what I can see it allows you to view more info with elss clicks, which makes it quicker and easier to use, if it is quicker it can help save time and money therefore seems appealing, I am not sure how much people use gov website, but if it was something you used every day a lot I imagine you would like to be clicking around less and viewing more, just my thoughts. Its like Apollo, just a better UI for reddit and an improvement on their UI
@@depralexcrimson of course, if there are shitty looking products out there and you can replicate them, but with a better UI you could capitalize on that
He’s back been waiting for the next episode lol, I myself also work as a software engineer in central london in a bank, I commute from outside london so by the time I get home I don’t get much time to do other things before it’s time to go bed lol, I am also working on my own startup as well
Yeah it's really hard to find the time to work on your own projects when working full time. You have to find the right balance between resting from work and working on your side projects 👍
You should try lazy load some of the data when you're on the company page for the other tabs, the constant spinner whenever you're navigating between tabs irks me a little...
An ability to create a team/enterprise account would be quite cool. This way in the team you can link employee accounts and then they get the paid option. And the main team leader/company can pay for an enterprise plan for up to like 3 members or something. The way you described things sounded like it’s meant for business type people so that could be cool? Not sure. Great vid tho, loving the series
Really great idea and is something I'm thinking about! Need to speak to users before I build out enterprise functionality. Happy to hear your enjoying the series, new video coming later this week 👨💻
The scary part for me would be charging businesses up front without experience of dealing with refund requests, complaints, customer service, and maybe a lack of legal agreements. But I would probably wing it at first by copy and pasting what sounds like well-crafted legalize and various check boxes on the sign up form. The free entry point could mitigate this kind of problem since customers would only pay if they are satisfied already.
Really good point most don't think about. As soon as I get any traction with serious £££ I will invest in the legitimate legal parts for the app. But for now it's all about getting ready for launch and getting the first customer! Thanks for you comment. 👌
When you open a company's overview, the system should automatically gather information such as filings, people, and periods. This process should happen without you noticing. This way, the information will be ready faster, improving your experience by reducing waiting time.
Seems like a few PDF's have a view/download - I would try to see if you can make a download all or download selected box also for the PDF's... maybe something also to do a multi-viewer if you want to view multiple pdfs at a time? Great progress though, got a sub
off topic to the video, but when I middle click (scroll wheel) on your profile to go to your channel, it shows me a different channel showing Modern warfare clips lol
Yeah I'm not sure why this happens, I think I share a TH-cam username with another user, should probably contact TH-cam for help. Thanks for the heads up!
Hi I hope you do not mind but I would like to give a few tips on the current UX. I am a UX/UI Enginneer. I am not sure if you notice but the search on the goverment is stretched all across the site. This is to make it more symmetrical and more aligned. Also the gap between the cards could be increased.
Search autocomplete seems a little inconvenient tbh On the CH website you: type in a company name > hit search and it returns a list of companies that match the search query On your website you: type in a company name -> wait for a list of companies to appear in the dropdown -> select a dropdown option -> see the list of companies that match the search query Seeing the results takes a lot longer on Interlu and I think the AC dropdown options should display more info about the company, e.g. the address to make it easier to find a company. Also, does it even matter which company you click on in the autocomplete dropdown (is the same sort of page displayed where all companies are listed)?
Love this type of comment thank you. I agree I think adding the address to the autocomplete list is a good idea and also adding a direct 'search' button so users can search quickly just like on the companies house website. Yes both places direct search and autocomplete selection end up on the same page, I think if there's a direct match it needs to be brought to the top and highlighted / possible open in a modal. Lots to work on, thanks again for your thoughts.
There's a few, but we now collect and save the result from each call and one day we will have our own database which we can use as reference. Pretty exciting stuff!
I really admire your creative thinking and the projects you undertake, but I cannot understand your company “DesginTide”. Why do I pay a monthly subscription for front-end design? Does one company require more than one front-end design per month?
Good question, it's for companies who need help with design or front-end development and don't want to hire a full time employee. It's also a unique way of working as a freelancer as it's a productised service it's easier to manage meaning I get more time to work on Interlu! 👌
Hey! Interesting project you have got here, really interested in knowing how can I contribute? It would be a good way for me to learn and be around someone experienced like you mate!
Thanks for your comment, I will have a think about opening the codebase up once I've launched and got some traction with customers. I don't want to waste people's time if no one uses the product. Keep coding 🧑💻
@@JacobSargentTech that would be great! regardless of the traction it would definitely not be a waste of time for me but just an amazing opportunity to learn! Looking forward to its success.
Hi! I hope you are having a great day. I have created multiple applications before. The best suggestion I can give you is to offer it for free for the first year. This helps customers learn about your product and aids in its growth. Keep it free for now! Maybe in a year or so, you can consider charging a small flat fee.
Interesting idea, I was thinking a 7 day trial. Because it's more B2B, I don't know if I want a free plan, time will tell! If I don't get any users maybe I'll open it up with a completely free plan. Thanks for your comment 🔥
No need to make it a free plan… a 7 day free trial will serve just fine. Paying customers are essential idea and value validators. Yeah, startup founder here :) wish you good luck!
Great question Tyzer, I actually used Joy UI (from material UI - mui.com/joy-ui/getting-started/), it comes with a better base styles compared to the original Material UI. Hope this helps 👍
