      I would say no because no one sits back there, but if you did, opt for the cheap vinyl ones like you previously had.

    I used to work as an IT manager at Narricot Industries in Virginia where they made seat belts. There is a testing room where they stretch the seat belts to maximum, and when they break, I jump every time (not used to being in there all day like the others). They test stretch these things to 10,000 pounds! That's right! You can tow a vehicle with these! I did! The weaving machines that make these will run about 5 to 6 inches a minute (more or less). This technique of weaving is called "narrow cloth" (cloth weaving for clothing is called "broad cloth" for reference). They also make tie down straps and parachute straps.

    Leaving the leather in the sun for a bit before install and letting it heat up makes this a bit easier as well.

    I'm going to be replacing the covers on my front seats and cleaning the rear ones, before many other items in the rig, since the seat and steering wheel are your main points of interface with your vehicle.

    The seats look great. However, I wish you would have gone over the lumbar support in detail. When I test drove my car, the lumbar support worked just fine. While driving the car home and fiddling with the seat adjustments, the lumbar popped. The motor works fine, so the problem is inside the back of the seat. Good thing I don't like the lumbar sticking out, but at some point in time I'd like to repair it as I just like everything working properly. Thanks!

    So my car was stolen for about a year and when I got it back the guy was so fat that every time he got in he couldn't hoist himself into the seat so it got pretty badly damaged and super filthy. So I am wondering if the replacement bottom portion for the driver's seat is actually leather and if it will fit a 2007 Chevy Suburban seat. I personally have never put my feet down into the vehicle without changing to my driving shoes not only to protect my shoes but to prevent any debris from dropping into the carpet covers.

  • @jw11432
    @jw11432 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm redoing my entire interior, changing colors as well. So while I will be doing seat cover swaps as well, I'm going to want to change seat belts (from tan to black). So I was hoping there would be more video on the seat belt mechanism, but I suppose it's manageable for me to deal with. Some generic aftermarket seat belts should suffice and I can do a little fabrication if need be for securing it where it needs to be. If someone is aware of a video tackling this, I'd love to get a link!

    Wait why didn’t you put new inserts in the other seats? Like you did for one seat but not the other

    • @lsxmatt
      @lsxmatt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by inserts? The heating pads or foam? I changed the heating pads in both seats. I only change the driver side lower foam because the passenger seat didn’t get sat in enough to need replacement.

    Sweet. I have the 2006 suburban with the PEWTER color. I definitely need to do my seats. Love my suburban, but carpet kit and seats getting done will make it like new again. Since we will only put 2-3k miles on it per year, I went with the cheaper and not the full leather you used in this video. Just cant justify spending 1k on all the seats with how little we use the Suburban now. Got seat out and apart waiting on the delivery of the new cover now. I would NEVER do all this work without replacing the foam padding as well. If you are taking the time and spending the money, do it right. You can almost guarantee your foam pad has fone to shit if your leather cover is also all worn out. Nice video. Edit: OK, to add on my above post, I did this on the bottom seat today. I got the cheaper ones from Ebay... they did not come with the velcro. I replaced the foam pad also. I followed this video and I did the seat by myself. It went on pretty well, although it does take some work. Once it started going on, it seemed to go pretty easy. I sat on it when done and WOW, cant believe how different it feels with the new pad. I dont care if your foam pad is not that bad, if you have a 14 year ol, or older vehicle, that foam is warn to hell. The new foam is so much more firm, I love it. IM gonna copy something I found as when I ordered my cover, it came with the wrong color even though I used the code from the glove box. Please read before ordering your new covers. Interior Trim Code 922/92I
    Here’s the deal…The 922/92I trim code for the 2000, 2001, and 2002(mine is a 2006, and this applied to my vehicle) Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Yukon XL can be a little tricky to interpret. We get a lot of calls about what color leather is actually in the truck. Unfortunately between the year 2000 - 2002, GM tied 2 different colors of leather to this one trim code. You can either have Shale or Pewter leather seat covers. The “trim” will always be pewter “grey.” “Trim” is the molded plastic panels on the side of the seat (like the panel that houses the electric seat controls, etc.). If the leather color matches this grey trim, you will have the pewter leather. If the leather color is a lot lighter than the pewter trim, you will have the Shale leather. Shale is like a cream/khaki color. A lot of our customers refer to shale as a “light grey” color. I think this is because the pewter “grey” trim makes the leather appear more like a grey. At any rate, if you do have the 922/92I trim code, just make sure to look at the leather against the pewter trim pieces to determine which color you have.

    Great job Matt. Little tip--to find out which color you have, pop your headrest off, flip it over and pop the plastic tab open. There'll be a white tag telling you what color the seats are--Pewter, Med Pewter, neutral etc. Just makes it easier. Using the vin is great--but doing this will tell you the color right away.
