There is large population of Chinese there from generations ago, so it is *very* mixed, and everyone gets along because we are family. The Western nations have mistreated and destabilized Africa so that they could steal its resources with impunity. China had strong periods before the west encountered it. China had several flourishing dynasties long before significant Western contact and the opium war/century of humiliation. Song,Tang,Zhou dynasties for example. These dynasties established China as one of the world's most advanced civilizations, with sophisticated political systems, rich cultural traditions, and technological innovations.

@@theprofessorcats3055 That was free in the past as Zambia Tanzania Railway to give access to the Ports. Back then China was dirt poor and the domestic infrastructure was not that significant. Still Zhou Enlai mobilised work force, materials, and Engineers to build the railway.

China never does anything for free. Even with the silk road. China charges high rates that these countries couldn't pay. All the funds are decided by China including what to build. Most of the workers are from China. The locals couldn't even get a job and benefits from these loans.
If any African country needs arms, the United States will provide them, and the price will definitely be cheaper than in Taiwan.

I live in Southern Africa. China did not start helping African nations recently, they helped my country gain independence from the West in the 1970s. When we gained independence from the UK and took back our land, the USA and western countries hit us with crippling economic sanctions to ensure our country and society would collapse. Corruption, nepotism have grown like a cancer ever since. China is straight forward with their policies, it's business no interference, hypocrisy...

When is countries even though not perfect they regard men as the foundation of society and the protectors and providers of womenfolk and children.
Look at the state of men and you’ll see if the society is heading towards a decline or inclines.

Small correction: Africa has 54 countries, not 53. Eswatini, formerly Swaziland, is the only country not invited to be part of the forum because they maintain diplomatic ties with Taiwan.

In Nigeria, I can point to numerous infrastructures built with Chinese loans but I can't point to a single infrastructure built with Western loans in the last 30 years. Go figure!

China and Africa can be seen as complementary partners due to their contrasting strengths and needs. China, with its vast financial resources and expertise in building infrastructure efficiently, faces challenges like an aging population and shortages of certain natural resources. In contrast, Africa has abundant natural resources and a young, rapidly growing population but lacks the infrastructure and investment to fully leverage its potential. This mutual dependency creates opportunities for collaboration, with China helping to develop Africa's infrastructure while benefiting from access to resources and a growing consumer base in Africa.
The US military industrial complex can't sell it's $ 100 million jet fighters to African Countries, or launder kick backs as African Countries are too poor. China plays the long game and is willing to plant seed money, no strings attached in developing basic infrastructure in poorer African Countries. What China has accomplished in the last 50 years is mindboggling.
The u.s. tried bribing traore with millions of dollars last year in Burkina Faso. He turned them down. That made Biden upset. Now they're kicking out the military.
No strings...except 9% interest on loans that are sure to default and then China takes the control of the asset. Ask Ghana, Rwanda, Jbouti and others.

Accountability is important, something most African presidents are not used to because they have been getting kickbacks from the west so that they can do whatever they want to do in their countries. Now China is teaching them a valuable lesson, they will get it.

The US and the West has always used their power over the African continent, lecturing and belittling African countries.
Instead of giving loans of multi millions to corrupt leaders that only care about themselves, thereafter they give them unrealistic low rates with conditions of what needs to be done. When ofc the leaders fail and used money to support their own interests. The US spikes the rates of interest up to double digits and since the country will never be able to pay it back. They have to rely on letting them have their resources, like materials and metals etc.

Both my uncle and my mother and my cousin found jobs because of them I don’t care what you think but in reality so many of us in the village found good paying job because of them in reality we do need help from them because some of us is dirt poor and now my neighbor brought a new TV yes I also think Africa choosing Africa is the best scenario but we really do need some help and our living conditions is so much better I don’t care if you think I’m betraying our country my living conditions is so much better roads are being built, new stores are made and now there is a new grocery store few minutes from where I live

Asian countries have a complex relationship with each other. There's thousand of years of historical baggage, often marred with conflicts with each other. Parts of Asia were colonized by the West (i.e India, Hong Kong, Philippines) so the people there tend to have the _"colonial mentality,"_ an internalized perception that the culture, language and values of the colonizer are inherently superior over that of other cultures (including their own). It is a difficult knot to untie.
Forgiveness must base on mutual respect to each other, including each other’s internal and other affairs, territories and histories etc.

My opinion about China changed by 180 degrees, I have to admit! Xi Jinping I have to realize is a very smart leader! Does he do everything right, no, but let’s face it no one can! What he has achieved however has earned my respect! And I‘m convinced that China and Russia will be successful with their efforts to finally get Africa out of misery!

China's inclusiveness toward African countries, particularly for the less-developing ones are incredible. China's commitment for a better development of Africa was real and sustainable, unlike the so called "big mouth" US without any significant contributions for the region.
Finally, an honest assessment of what the West actually does to Africa vs China more sincere forms of aid and loans!!
