For me there's an argument that DJ was our best attacking option all season. His performances were more consistent than the others, he played less than cre and his numbers were on a similar trajectory.

He would go outside, cut inside and generally add more width. Gnonto as a rule, just cut inside. I also see james as more of a team player. That's because people confuse talent with being a good all round player. For example, Trent Alexander-Arnold is a far more talented Right Back than Kyle Walker.... but Kyle Walker is the far more effective all rounder, who you would trust when it comes to the crunch. Very similar on a lesser scale with Gnonto and James. No doubting Gnonto is more talented, but James is the better, older and wiser all rounder. People also forget he played for 2 seasons at Man United, playing regularly games in a team that finished second in the Premier league. Gnonto could only dream of that.... People need to put more respect on Dan James.

That lost season was the reason he got loaned out to Fulham. It was a mistake made by both the board and Bielsa at the time to play him as a 9. The board should have bought cover for Bamford at the end of our 1st season in the prem instead of making a bad judgement. And here we are after 2 further seasons and unless Mateo is the 9 next season we still don't have an option to Bamford. Its scary mis management of the club.

Their loss will be an impact but the addition of decent wingers and a much improved midfield and a 10 would more than offset the reliance of cre ( more than willy). Our current midfield doesn't create chances. They are not progressive with the ball, line splitting passes. Which is shown by the lack of assists or goals that has come from that part of the park. We need a much more rounded team, we've relied on individual moments of brilliance all season and if that's lacking then you get the results we've had.
Dan James is a much more consistent player and deserves to start next season. Bring a loan winger in from the prem and sell gnonto and cree. Cree is class but he's very himself second half of the season. Lets go find another diamond.

Willy has ability but the Championship doesn't suit him. Teams know now that his temperament is suspect. Might have to be £12-£15M but he needs to move on. Someone like Jack Clarke would be much more effective in the Championship next season
