This has always been perplexing to me. She supposedly did a lot of research beforehand. Loved Diana growing up. The royals did, and still do, a great deal of charity work. They even had staff to guide her and explain in more detail what was expected of her. She knew exactly what she was getting into. There are plenty of photos of Diana going to business meetings, carrying a briefcase, etc. Was she going to pull the race card to get out of it? How was she going to justify it? Yes, parts of their lives are glamorous, but there's no way she had no idea how much work was involved. The woman is just delusional.
Appeared totally out of her depth. Went into defensive mode but didn't have the foundations to sustain such a pretence. Cut and ran.

I think her biggest regret is her, herself.
Maybe if she put effort into being a kind person, then people would like her and want to spend time with her. She just expects adoration and respect, but refuses to earn it. The royals were, despite her background, incredibly welcoming and tried their best to get along with her. It's not their fault she chose to behave the way she did. It never had to be this way. You can't complain about not having friends when you constantly undermine everyone and create conflict everywhere.
I guess she also forgot that part where Diana did a lot of charity work, met with and greeted the public and gained their love. Not to mention, Diana was a teenager with little life experience and she was a twice married woman in her mid 30s. Their lives before royal life were the complete opposite. I can't fault a naive teenager who was in over her head, didn't understand the major choice being made and didn't make the best decisions at times. M knew exactly what she was getting into and had plenty of time to think about it. Their situations are not comparable in any way.

@@LaDiaF I agree with you. At the same time, why not fake it? Given the free home and wardrobe, plus knowing she would never have to worry about those things again, she could have just played along. She wouldn't have all of the responsibilities that Catherine and Camilla take on, so her life would be less complicated. It's not like she would be outside with the public for hours on end either. She had a staff that would probably take on most of the responsibilities of charities as she was new to all of it. She just had to smile and shake some hands, but even that seemed to annoy her.

The implication that the late Queen deliberately stripped these two women of their titles is quite wrong. She was simply following custom and tradition.
After divorce instead of HRH The Princess of Wales, Diana's official status and rank was as Diana, Princess of Wales. Such change is standard practice within aristocratic and royal circles. So for example Sarah Ferguson was HRH The Duchess of York but became Sarah, Duchess of York. It just meant that a new wife would take priority - also that the ex wife was no longer a working royal and didn't represent the Monarchy.

She would have had more sympathy and adoration if she had come out and told the truth that she couldn't carry a child and that they used a surrogate. That would have absolutely got the sympathy of the public.

The planets saying that you should work until 67 explains why my husband is so frustrated at having to had to quit working at 56 (due to his Parkinsons). He is now 60 and he cannot do much because of the disease and he gets very frustrated. We all wish that Meghan never met Harry as well! Heading over to see his regrets now =).

I visited LA in the late 80s and i found the people strange. Being Aussie's we'd talk to anyone but most people couldnt help with directions or bus routes because " they weren't from there". I realised no-one was a waiter or shop assistant they were waiting to be discovered and were from everywhere else. It wasnt until we got to San Francisco that i met a shop assistant who asked us what we thought of LA when i told her she laughed and said yeah we all moved because of the weirdos.

Interesting reading. Im retirement age next month but planning on going for another year, all being good. Started an exercise regime, 20 minutes, twice a week. Once the retirement starts, I will be sticking to the routine of getting up at the time im used to. I can't lay in bed for too long, and it makes me feel ill. Looking forward to it.

I have a stepparent who is aging miserable and is turning on us step kids. His own children ignored him throughout life. We accepted him and spent time with him over the years. My questions are always off topic, can you do a reading if the Olympics or the nation of France is trying to sabotage the athletes? I just saw a video of the athletes showing how they are disappointed and discusted with the food in the dinning hall. There is not enough protein/proper carbs to sustain the athletes.
