- We visited the charming town of Peebles, Scotland in the Scottish Borders. With the gorgeous scenery all around it, beautiful architecture, and friendly people, we loved our stay there.
And there are so many great places to visit near Peebles, so it’s a wonderful place for a holiday!

Yes, that bakery assortment was AMAZING!! Everything did indeed look VERY yummy! Despite the cloudy day, all your scenic views were just lovely, Dara. Glad there was no rain to spoil anything!
Everything looks better against a blue sky... but in Britain we don't get those every day! But Peebles was a lovely place. And I was glad I got to walk around and film a bit before we left.
Did you enjoy Lorraine's Scottish accent at the end? That is my favourite part of the video ❤
Oh, I did love that accent! I’m glad we could actually SEE the words she was reading; otherwise, I think I might have needed sub-titles. ;-)
This assortment in the bakery display looks so yummy....difficult to choose from!!
There were some REALLY creative flavours of muffins and scones that I had never seen before... and even scone cupcakes!

You know that I am very scared of dogs, but I have to admit that these little guys look very cute!
They look like little lambs, so they weren't as scary as some big dogs can be ;-)

This was so well edited, at first watch I didn't even noticed that it was Ian's drone footage because of the feel and flow of the whole video put together. You'll soon be doing films for tourists boards 🙂👏❤

I remember as a child, we would go "brambeling" (wild berry picking) around Peebles, and my mother would make jam in a giant "jeely pan".
That was a day out back in the day...simpler times.
Oh that sounds AMAZING!!! Nothing better than freshly made jam from local berries! We went hiking on trails with blackberry bushes all the time... Ian would snack on the berries. I always wished I could make them into crumble or jam! Thanks for sharing your memory. Cheers! XX Dara

Peebles looks lovely, one of the many places in Britain which, to my shame, I have never visited. Glad you enjoyed yourselves.
No shame, there are SO MANY lovely places to visit in Britain! But now you'll have a place for your list if you ever plan a trip to the Scottish Borders. The sites to visit nearby were amazing... a few will be shown in upcoming videos. When I get a chance to edit them ;-)
What a charming place, Peebles. I've had 4 trips to Scotland yet none to Peebles. Must change that, The BnB looked extremely comfortable. I am now craving for a real pie. Ah the weather, only the Scots do it that well, 😂 ! 🇳🇱 🙋♀️ 🇳🇿 Lovely video.
Scotland looks beautiful and atmospheric even when it is cloudy and grey! The Scottish Borders is a beautiful area... highly recommend! We visited a couple manor houses/castles nearby which I will share in upcoming videos. So much to edit, haha! You know how it is ;-)

Thanks so much for your advice on this video, Andie! I did love the poem, but just having the words on the screen without Lorraine's voice reading it would not have been half as nice! The dogs were so funny... I think they are child, parent and grandparent. I don't know which is which, but yes the one on the lower step was definitely territorial and not wanting to share their step in the photo! haha

Hi Dara, Catching up on my viewing after visiting Stonehenge and Dartmoor; sadly we didn't spot any otters. It was nice to see how much you loved Peebles and to see those three lovely Bedlington Terriers, there aren't many of them about.
I'm so glad you had a Dartmoor trip... I love that place!! Sorry about missing the otters (I guess you didn't want to sit on a river bank at 3am for hours, huh?) but tell me what lovely critters you DID see wandering the moors?
Yes, I had never heard of Bedlington Terriers, but they are so cute... look like lambs!
@@MagentaOtterTravels Nothing exotic. Rabbits, ponies, cows including a few Highland cows. Sheep, including some small ones that looked like Bedlington Terriers. Red Kites and Jackdaws.

I do things like that all the time! Peebles is a funny name... a cross between Pebbles and Peeples, lol
Hmmm....what do you call a bread roll that doesn't, well....roll? Opinion here in Wells Towers is that we'd call it a small mixed grain loaf. Loaf is probably stretching a point, but the term 'bread roll' was outvoted! Mini-loaf....?

You know how long it takes to do all that editing, LOL! That's why I have been publishing so many food videos, because they are faster to edit! Travel vlogs like these take AGES!
What did NOT take ages was posing the dogs. They were very well trained and cooperative... did you notice their owner Malcolm saying "photo!"? When they hear that, they go pose on the steps! But apparently only two of them like to pose together and the third wants their own step, LOL!

Ian's steak pie looked tasty, although the vegetables were a bit too healthy for me. I've only been to Scotland twice for a couple of days (Edinburgh for a work thing), I'd like to go and travel around the country. Maybe as things are getting back to normal (or as normal as they can be) I'll make it one day :-)
Yes, you should definitely venture up to the highlands ... the views are incredible! We didn't get to do that on this trip, but we've been in the past. And yes, the consensus so far is that the side of veggies at the pub was unnecessary! LOL
Roll = Bap = Cob = Bun. I am sure you will hear them all as you make your way across the UK.

@@MagentaOtterTravels a Bloomer is a large crusty loaf, usually with diagonal stripes cut into the top. funnily enough, I bought our local version today. it is a Cabbage Loaf. which is like a Bloomer but covered in cabbage leaves before baking. I tend to eat it as a snack, covered in lashings of Jersey Butter.
Interesting record of your to Peebles and what is obviously a very nice place to stay. I have spent a few nights in Peebles too, some years ago, when we used the Peebles Hydro as our base for touring the area - that was an enjoyable trip I recall.

What a lovely place, and that guesthouse looks very swish. And some lovely shops, i could spend a fortune in that bakery/butchers, no problem. Oh, and on the subject of pies... Sorry Ian, but that wasn't a pie on your plate. The filling has to be encased in pastry to be a pie. That looked like a casserole with a pastry top :) Great drone footage though. And that poem, pretty good too.

Yes, that is Mr. MOT's job... since I do all the video editing and publishing, haha! We mostly leave reviews on Trip Advisor, since that seems to be the most used site for this type of thing.

My hair is reddish brown. Out of a box of course! But sometimes in the sunlight it looks all different colours...

We are back in Cheltenham now, and having a lovely time exploring the Cotswolds around us. But we LOVED our Northern Expedition and Peebles (and the guest house and the pooches) were wonderful!
