One of the first videos that inspired me to change my way of diving and become who I am today. Thanks Steve for the inspiration and the clear path towards Precision Diving!!! :D Best regards from the Maltese archipelago
I am still relatively new to sidemount. Just getting comfortable now. Your videos are extremely useful. I actually produce a lot of warm water Caribbean diving videos so I appreciate the work that goes into these.
Squeezing thru that hole at 8:17 with 12 liter twins was a struggle! Just starting to dive with sidemount and looking forward to visiting P29 again! :)
Superb video, thank you!! I did a sidemount course on dive #16 and stuck with it so have never even worn a twinset and it never occurred to me til now that swimming alongside people completely on my side just for the fun of it isn't normal lol :)
I like the VDO Steve. Shows the Fun during Edjucation and what is possible with SM Setup but what i like really is every Time whilst the Guys surfacing the have smiling Faces and not tired. :-)
Looks a good course, takes me back to teaching in Egypt in the late 90's.Did my TDI hypoxic trimix course with Aaron Bruce, a year later did the TDI instructor course with him! Know that is a week of intense work...Cheers AaronTim
Sidemount is good for caves, wrecks or when you need 2 tanks Backmount is way more comfy for single tank ocean dives tho. I dive both depending on situation
This is so damn cool! I can't wait until I get to the point in my diving journey that I am ready to tackle technical diving skills like sidemount diving.
can someone please tell me why you'd need to take off your 1st stage underwater? seems to me like it has just flooded and will be needing service?? I'm referring to what he's doing at 17:14
It is a special skill and part of an advanced technical diver training course, it is simulating a failed regualtor and used on an additional stage / deco cylinder to maintain a level of safety. The regualtor gets serviced if this was ever to happen yes. Regards, Steve
+DJ Arcen Yes, on the slate is our decompression schedule and plan as we are diving with a 50% deco cylinder additional to our x2 main sidemount tanks. The slate reminds us where we should be and at what time, for how long etc.
Great video! I just started using the xdeep stealth system as well. I love it, but the top bolt snap used for securing the bladder to my body presses against my rib cage. After several days of diving off Manado, Indonesia, my rib was bruised. I wore either a 2mm hooded vest or a 3mm full suit. Any suggestions?
try with a more flexible bungee, some can expand 2x its own length. It doesn't have to be super tight. I also have a couple of knots on the bungee only side, so I can change the tightness to match the different suit thicknesses, by clipping on the first or second knot.
Last They have sidemount bcd's. Check out the black things on their backs. They're XDeep Stealth. If you're correctly weighted you don't need much air in them so they're quite streamlined.
I liked the video and am interested in recreational sidemount diving but not cave or wreck penetration diving. HOWEVER when is it okay to have your regulator out of your mouth without blowing bubbles? I saw that at least 4 times. Not SAFE! Are the rules different in the Medditeranean? Most important rule in SCUBA diving…….
@Daekyu Kang, whose original comment was 'How is that good? Thanks but you're not teaching anything on this vid, you're just bragging' And why would he be teaching for free on the internet? Perhaps the answer would be for you to apply and experience the sidemount course for yourself? Thanks but it is your comment that is a little useless in my opinion. I would also recommend the following video, which should give you an idea of what he can teach you: th-cam.com/video/BH48Lgwek6I/w-d-xo.html 그리고 배울게 없다고 생각하시는것 같은데, 이 다음 영상을 추천해드립니다: th-cam.com/video/BH48Lgwek6I/w-d-xo.html

Amazing video! This make me want to do side mount! Not very popular here in FL, USA. Specially for boats trips.
Seeing these videos has made me want to change to sidemount diving.

best video ever for sidemount
+Rene Fortes Thanks :D
it's so nice to read that Avid MC is being used still. I thought I was the only one left using it. everyone else uses FCP-X (Final Cut Pro 10 (POS)).
Awesome video, great way of learning to remain calm and handle problems.
What a beautiful place to learn Sidemount!!

Looks like a fun way to learn! Wish I was there!
Big up! Great video! At 11:14 i started crying, so beautiful....
Great Job. Enjoyed it . Very good side mount demo.
Very cool. Love to try sidemount sometime. Thanks for the informative video...
Stunning video!!! Incredible. You are all great divers.

Hello! :D
The music you use for this video, where can i find it?
Great guys,so lovely 💙
Awesome! I wish to bring this to Taiwan where I live...
I'm doing my side mount course in a couple days hope I look as good as your divers.
by the way I would like to use this music in a compilation myself. do you know where I can license it?
Claustrophobic and beautiful and amazing at the same time.
Very fun to watch.
Awesome video
Muy buen video de formación. Gracias.
Good training
Very cool video
Nice nice movie 😍 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
At 12:42 can you describe what's written on your slate?
+DJ Arcen Yes, on the slate is our decompression schedule and plan as we are diving with a 50% deco cylinder additional to our x2 main sidemount tanks. The slate reminds us where we should be and at what time, for how long etc.

Great video Steve. What is happening to the computer at 1:32?
That's just flickering caused by the shutter speed of the camera and the refresh rate computer screen.
When are you back on Malta/Gozo? Would like to do a side mount course over there.
Me too. It's not far from The Netherlands. Hoping to take a course this year.
Nice insights! Keep going!
this is epic steve....
I just started out with diving. 10 Dives on Record OWD. I can’t see any BCD on you guys. Don’t you need them in shallow water with Side Mount?
Last They have sidemount bcd's. Check out the black things on their backs. They're XDeep Stealth. If you're correctly weighted you don't need much air in them so they're quite streamlined.
Super !!! Tak się zdobywa doświadczenie ,
Nice work steve
Blindfold part was epic.
What kind of black masks r u wearing underwater and where did u get ur black masks.
It is a Aqualung Ventura Plus mask, just google it to find shops near you
It's really beautiful))
What is it with this sidemount? My longest dive is 2h20' and done on sidemount course :)
Great Video!
nice video! keep on diving! :)
11:09 Hmm my instrouctor skipped this part on my sidemount certificaton
smiling faces all over .. thats why i started diving in the first place ...
I want learn, when
Nice hard training
LP85's?
10:58 almost shed a tear
Don’t forget to hydrate.
Amazing video, guys! Congratulations!
Thanks 😃
Practice makes perfect
Awesome!
i literaly have the exact same regulator
I liked the video and am interested in recreational sidemount diving but not cave or wreck penetration diving. one thing i dont understand, shouldnt you donate what you breed in OOG?
Clean water clear warm water
A version with narration would do well I think. Even if it was AI.
Einfach super!
THANK YOU, STEVE!
👌👌👌
You lot must be tec divers
with been able to take 4 cylinders down on a dive with you
Really wish you would have just posted this video without the generic music
lol, frog kick in open water
imagine using a technique that is proven for efficiency and less air consumption
what a waste of time sidemount. Just a fad!!!!
