Just a tip u could have tied a wire at ends of the pvc pipe so when the concrete dried it has a real grip same as rebar

Excellent... if you're worried about the handle coming out you can use fittings available at any good hardware store and connect the ends with two tees and a small piece of pvc. This would make an 'H' to be buried in the cement. 25 & 35 pounds, that's perfect!

Nice tutorial. A tip to keep the PVC from kinking is to tape one end, fill with sand or uncooked rice and tape the other end closed before baking. This will prevent kinking.

Skip the glue--no real need for it. if you have to, get a bag of play sand to fill up your PVC pipe to keep it from kinking, or you can just use dry dirt with no significant rocks--just tamp it firm.
Skip the drill, use a garden trowel to mix and scoop the concrete mix. The consistency should be like THICK oatmeal.
Of course your sand/dirt filled 26" PVC pipe is duct taped at both ends. Wrap it in aluminum foil, place in 350 Farenheit oven for 5 minutes. While it's getting soft, fill your sink up with cold water, first placing in an institututional food can-- the old style big metal coffee cans also work. This will be your curvature mold for your handle.
You'll need a pair of oven mitts you don't mind getting wet, but with the sink ready and the handle ready, remove from oven and quickly dip it into the water and bend it right against the can, holding it just long enough until it hardens. The curve should be nigh well perfect. Let cool and remove the foil before placing into your concrete filled ball.
A just concrete filled basketball and a 1" dirt filled PVC pipe will make a just under 30 pound KB. To raise the weight, find pieces of steel, or better yet, lead. Be creative in your sources. I used the scrap railroad spikes and S-ties rusting away beside any railroad track to make a 45 pound KB.

If you put play sand in the pvc prior to heating it and cover the ends with duct tape, it will hold its shape in the oven and heat evenly. After you have bent it to your shape, dump out the sand. It will form easily into almost any shape without creasing or collapsing.Great video. I’m going to try it!

Use other size balls such as volley balls or soccer balls (youth, high school, etc) for other weights. Also to produce a handled weight of approximately 17 lbs, you can simply fill a 5qt motor oil jug with concrete. Fill it about 1/3 with wet concrete, turn it upside down to let the handle fill with concrete, let it harden over night. Fill the remainder of the jug with concrete and let it set. Mix the concrete in the jug using approximately a 1 to 1 ratio of water to concrete. Use the top carrying handle of the jug to swing it. A jug filled with water weighs about 8 pounds. No heating in your oven required and the handles are solid concrete inside a plastic sheath. No worry about handles loosening.

Put sand in a frying pan, then use a funnel to put the hot sand into the PVC and you won't get kinks in your PVC pipe. When I make these or Buff Blocks I like to fill My PVC with Concrete as well. Makes them heavier and more durable hand grips.

Thanks @Jason Ross. This design seems even superior to store-bought kettlebells because of its rubber coating: I can lift in the basement on the concrete floor without messing up the floor or the kettlebell. In the three years since you produced the video, have you had any issues with the handles slipping out? I wondered whether some heavy wire laced through two or three holes drilled through both ends of the handle might help guarantee a permanent anchor between the handle and the ball. I'd hate to have a 35 pound ball slip off the handle while I'm swinging it: That'd give one more image for my sons to post on social media. :)

It looks the part but it isn’t gonna last 5 minutes. 35kg of concrete with a PVC pipe set in it will wriggle out in no time........hopefully when it’s not above ye head. Concrete will also crack too, it cracks in them plastic weights filled with concrete too it just isn’t effective. Really nice idea but I think somebody else suggested this, bang a bolt through and through the PVC, fix a nut either end and then set it in concrete. The horizontal metal fix will be way stronger than the vertical plastic pipe in concrete.

I've just crushed up some old storage heater bricks - density 8 vs concrete density 2.4 , hope mix is 3 x heavier
Volume of 8" sphere ~4.2 litres , concrete =10.1kg = 22lbs or maybe 3 times that with storage htr grit mix
Steel density 8 vs concrete 2.4 = similar if can add lots of steel , lead even heavier.
    8 1/2 sphere volume 5.88 litres nearly 1 and 1/2 times weight of 8" ball 22lbs vs 33lbs concrete
    9" ball = nearly 8.2 litres , very nearly double 8" ball

if you fill the pvc with sand as you heat and bend it will form a great handle with extra weight and extra compressive durabiluty. we do this at work somtimes to form nice bends but there is no point in removing the sand as wee do. even better use butelene pipe as this is tough as old boots.
