exactly, great vids by the way, I know I was one of the few people that sat through your video showing the graph of cobalt, vg10, and s30v and hung onto every word because Im interested in every detail of knife geometry, steel, etc.
    great job

Glad to hear haha that's some geeky stuff Bro.
I'll have to make more steel videos.
      Thanks man
I never plan these videos out I just turn the camera on and go.
So when I hear that you really like a video it inspires me to make more. Haha so thank you

awesome, you know, I've always wanted to know if of all the different types of steel are they 1)that different from each other 2) does one steel get sharper that another like if I have vg10 m390 s35vn 8cr13mov and 9cr18mov would in the same style knife or geometry get to the same sharpness or if one of them would cut better, like through meat , flesh, demin, leather etc. 3) if the steels all preform pretty much the same just one literally only stay sharper longer and that's it.
cause if I but a 15$ Schrade in 8cream over and a 75 dollar buck in s30v. will there be a noticeable 60 dollar performance increase or not at all.
      you know.
because I find many people saying 8cr or Chinese metals suck, and vg10, m4, m3, 52100, 1090,1095,d2,01,a2,s30v,s110v, etc all rule over each other, especially like zdp
you know, and you seem to be better equipped and able to shed a bit of light on those questions.
and if you have any spare stone or whatever, send email my way wink wink😉😉 hint hint 😇😆 lol

      Dan Hazard what great questions!
I will give you simple answers for now since I could probably write a book about each answer.
      1. Yes, different knife steels can perform very different
They have different attributes based on there chemsity that can be expressed in different ways buy different heat treatments.
Think of different steels like the different cars on the road.
They all do different things better then others but they all four wheels.
The Heat treatment is the engine of the car.
So you can imagine how important the heat treatment is.
I'll answer the other questions later.
      :)

I don't know how hard the M4 is but I am familiar with the Chosera 3K stone, and know how it cuts many steels and the lines of ground metal that are left after making passes. That M4 does seem difficult to cut, even with the excellent abrasives Naniwa uses. Slimming down the main bevel on your puukko (when the time comes) could put quite a burn in your shoulder.

you should put a long pencil mark on the stone so you know when the stone is flat level, if you don't already do that

Yea it's always good to go back to the basics.
