I’m not sure because there aren’t subs, but whenever you apply heat to your hair (but it’s really just good practice whenever starting a new hairstyle), start with CLEAN, CONDITIONED hair. This is super important so that you limit damage to your hair, and your hair will straighten better 2. USE A HEAT PROTECTANT. This is also super important so that you again, don’t damage your hair or curls. It looks like you went straight from applying a leave in conditioner to blow drying, and I almost cried for you 3. That’s the wrong type of brush to blow dry your hair, or for your hair in general . I think you were saying that the brush is for dogs, and you’re not a dog, so idk what made you want to use that, but leave it for the dogs. Use a wide toothed comb and/or a tangle teezer to stretch your hair without ripping out excessive amounts 4. It’s always a good idea to section your hair to it’s easier to manage and you can get more consistent results throughout your head (like when you were blow drying) 5. Please please please start watching natural hair videos so you can learn how to take care of your hair better! I recommend naptural85, she also has hair products out now 6. Also consider using a scarf to tie down the hairstyle to make it smoother and last longer Otherwise, your edges turned out nice!💕

A lot of people are leaving great tips so I’d also like to add. For curly/kinky/coarse hair, you don’t HAVE to wash it everyday like other hair types. Start off with every two weeks, but if you notice your scalp is itchy or producing too much oil then try every week or every other week. Keep it simple. Shampoo (I recommend Design essentials, Biolage or really any shampoo catering towards curly girls, and get you a HYDRATING shampoo) Clarifying or scalp cleansing shampoos are for removing product build up (because of protective styles or just adding too much product throughout the week) Conditioner: biolage has an amazing hydrating conditioner with aloe leaf and spiraling, my hair soaked it UPPPPT. It’s called “Biolage Hydrating pack”. I’d recommend deep conditioning every two weeks. Use a regular conditioner as often as you wash your hair. Protein deep conditioners are great to strengthen your hair. It’s recommended to use it once a month and then gauge from there. Invest in a rat tail comb, detangling “wet” brush (to detangling your curls GENTLY in the shower, and a paddle brush for blow drying your hair or atleast a hair dryer/blow dryer that comes with the comb attachment, and a wide tooth comb for detangling on dry hair. Much debate about leave-in conditioner and if their necessary, I say try it find an inexpensive one and see how your hair likes it, it’s mean to be used after towel dried hair (I use a cotton tshirt, squeeze my hair so it’s not soaking but damp) Your hair is beautiful and as a mixed race girl, some products meant for those with looser patterns may work better. So don’t be shy about trying new products. Keep it simple but with all curly / Black womens hair, be gentle and keep it hydrated. Love on your hair and it’ll flourish. Also get trims. It aids in hair growth.

The standard formula that tends to work for curlier, kinkier types is bi weekly washes, deep conditioning as needed and protein treatments once a month. But it varies. :) have a blessed day

These are the best gels that hold all day. 5. Do NOT use any products with alcohol inside them. You will lose your hair. 6. Braids or Twists are the BEST way for your hair to grow longer 7. Comb out your hair with a really big comb and comb it from the END of the hair to the scalp. Comb it in reverse 8. Do not use this product called " CANTU", this isn't good for your hair. 9. Watch youtube videos created by black women to learn more. 😁 I hope this helps!
@@nova-in9oh If it has been working for you, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you do experience noticeably drier or brittle hair, then I'd see if the Cantu is causing it, but it could be something else. Not all alcohols are made the same!

It's pretty much the same with 4c, it courser and thicker. And because it's so curly alot of people with 4c hair looks like the have short hair until it straightened. The people in my family who has 4c hair use baby detangler spray and hair lotion to make it easier to brush
