If penn state loses they are still on track for the cfp and their fans are content. If Ohio state loses Day is likely coaching for his job the rest of the season.
Big Noon has ruined college football more than conference realignment and NIL. My Buckeyes play more games at this time slot than any other team. It gets old.
Ohio state has had 1 to 2 big regular season games a year depending on how good penn state is for the last forever. You will get more prime time games going forward now that you have a regular season schedule with more that 3 college teams on it.

@v1rotatev230 I'm not sure where you've ever heard, "this is our year." I've been a fan since '86 (I was 7) and outside of the 90s when OSU was terrible, we've never had the talent level that OSU has. This year, they are still more talented, but they haven't played to their talent level. Can we win? Yes. In 2017 did JF make a poor decision? Yes. But in general, JF isn't the reason we've lost. Talent is because 90+% of the time, talent on the field wins games.
Penn State fan. I have absolutely no faith in James Franklin. None. I’ve seen this exact story and read this exact book over and over. We play them tough. Keep it close. They make more plays and in the end they out coach us and win 27-21. Something like that.
Penn State’s issue in these games has always been depth. They’ve always had the starters to hang with Ohio State but not the depth behind them that a team like Ohio State has so by the end of the game, they have had the impossible decision of playing a starter who is dead-tired or a backup that they know can’t hang. This year finally feels like the year that Penn State has the depth to actually take on Ohio State and have a shot for 4 quarters. Give me Penn State to win but I wish I was as confident as I sound.
@Jacob-jj8gi Not sure I'd say we've had the starters to hang. The difference is seen in 4th qtrs when the talent level of OSU shows. Starter vs starter, OSU has superior talent and game wreckers at most every position while we have 1 or 2 on the whole team. That's been the difference IMHO. Even this year, OSU has FAR more talent that us, or any team for that matter, but they haven't played up to it. If they do on Saturday, they will win.
Game is bigger for OSU for this season. One loss and PSU is still in playoffs. They will win the remainder of their games. OSU loses and very possible it is the beginning of the end for Day. Coaching staff seems discombobulated: OL and defensive position groups.
Big Penn State fan and you're right. The defense is great but their weakness is bend but don't break. The result of that is the team is punting from the 50 all the time and pinning the offense at the 10. The defense struggles with getting 3 and outs.
@@cjhowell6406 one is like 1-9 and the other is 1-7. I guess it’s overshadowed by the fact that Michigan has kicked the shit out of you for 3 years in a row.
Very factual analysis. Unlike many others as a Buckeye fan I wasn't a Ryan Day fan. He grows on you. Bottom line. Fundamentals are being lost on game day. Penalties need to stop. Line of scrimmage needs protected and defense needs to figure out how to stop the run game.
OSU lost the turnover battle, explosive play battle, and field position battle vs Oregon and lost by 1 point. Had their QB had ANY awareness, they'd have won it on a FG. Think of that when you suggest that somehow this is a "should win" for PSU.
@@ryansheard8092 The refs gave Ohio state 7 when they threw a blatant interception. Oregon also missed a PAT and FG. It should’ve been like 34-24 Ducks. So you can spin it however you want but that’s the truth
If Ohio State doesn't have a solid left tackle, this game is a wrap. Last season, Michigan beat Penn State bc they had the ability to go with 7 offensive linemen and run the ball since they couldn't throw it bc of the pass rush. We already know the entire offensive front for OSU has to be focused on Abdul Carter, but after the Nebraska game, ya gotta wonder if they can slow him down. The other big question mark for OSU is Denzel Burke. Two weeks in a row, teams have targeted him on defense. Penn State likely won't necessarily, but in order to beat Penn State, you have to make them one-dimensional. If OSU's corners can't completely shut down the PSU receivers (not the hardest task btw), it really puts pressure on the front 6 to do too much. Penn State coming in, Pribula (pri-BYOOL-uh, not PRIB-yuh-la) is better fit for how they wanna run the ball, so missing Allar isn't game-ending, but the health of their right tackle and Singleton can be big in tandem for what they want to do. Penn State recruits to win this game specifically, so they matchup very well. Health, as was the last time OSU came in, is their big key.
Game has very little to do with Franklin or Day. New OC Kotelnicki is calling some aggressive plays for PSU. Players on both teams will have to execute. I doubt this comes down to head coaching unless one of them mismanages the clock. The comments about how Franklin or Day will screw this up are just plain dumb and tired.
