  • The sprayer came to life after waiting for a year in the barn. Worked very well until the spark plug fouled, and worked fine after I changed the plug.
A full load of fuel and spay is more than I want to carry, so I loaded it with 2.5 gallons from old spray jugs. Using pre-mixed jugs of product saves a lot of time, and they are much better than trying to mix in the backpack tank.

I bought the model 868 and describes it as a fogger, mister, duster.
No instructions on how to use it as a fogger. Any details?

There is a valve on the volute (nozzle) that control the fluid flow. Increasing the flow changes the discharge from a mist to a fog. It's really semantics at best.

Do you need to disconnect the pressure pump before using dry to blow leaves to prevent it from burning out?

Good question, and I have no idea!

Yes! Just like using a pressure washer, the water supply running thru the pump is what lubricates and cools it. The Turbo Pressure Pump works on the same principle. The pump is vane driven and will be spinning full blast when you operated it as a blower. Only a matter of time before the friction / heat build up can damage the seals or bearing. Disconnect it by loosening the hose clamp and pulling off the supply line tube only takes about 30 seconds. For anyone who burnt their pressure pump up by running it dry... Invatech sells them. Just google: "Replacement Turbo Pump with Hoses for Invatech Italia Model 868 Mosquito Fogger"

Have you tried the Tomahawk mist blower by chance? They look nearly identical but have different specs. Would love to see a comparison.

I want a fogger that I don't have to carry on my back.

There are small airblast sprayers that you can mount on a 3-point hitch. The ones that I've seen are a) too heavy for my hitch when they're full, b) need more PTO horsepower than I have, and c) are too heavy for my wallet. Check out the adverts in Fruit Grower News if you're in the market!

@@Neighbour_Al Too expensive. The backpack sprayer is big enough. It just needs a 20' hose and an 8' wand.

To clarify, you can only pressurize the tank "after" your chemical solution has been added to the thank. Per an instruction sheet in the owners manual it states: "After filling the chemical tank, close the lid tightly and ensure the flow control ball valve (i.e, chemical release valve) is in the closed position. Start the engine and let it run at full throttle for 4 to 5 minutes allowing for the pump to pressurize the tank and thus allowing the mister to reach further distances." Once the pump has built up tank pressure it will continue to maintain full tank pressure as you spray.

MisterDuster is the US distributor. Once your order is placed, and if they have it in inventory, they will ship it via UPS within 24-48 hours. That said, after much research I discovered there were multiple "resellers" in the US offering the Invatech Italia model 868. Although I live in the US in the end I elected to order mine directly from the manufacturer in Vancover, BC Canada to play it safe. Once your order is placed, and if they have it in inventory, they also ship within 24-48 hours but they ship via FedEx 2 day Air, no charge for shipping, no sales tax and typically as much as $20 cheaper than misterduster or the other US resellers. Plus by ordering from the company itself there's no confusion as to what a reseller might have promised or need to worry about a reseller shipping me another customers return.
