  • I do a side by side comparison of the Esbit pocket stove and the Esbit Ultralight titanium stove in stock form the pocket stove just barely boiled 500ml of water in 10:30 and the ultralight got 91C at 13:30 after adding windshields I got rolling boils two minutes faster on both stoves

I wonder what 2 fire dragon wend screens would do?
Would it act like the round can and force more heet up into the cup?

I find that getting the fuel tab closer to the pot is the most efficient way along with a windscreen. I can only get the round pill type fuel tabs 7g. Using an Esbit Stainless steel stove and potstand (similar but smaller than a Trangia Triangle stove) with the fuel tab raised 1cm will boil 1 cup of water & continue for 1 minute & 30 seconds. The fuel tab 7g has a burn time of 9 minutes +/= 10 to 15 seconds. Not fast but consistent results.

with Esbit type Fuel a large pan like a mess tin is better than a canteen cup for heating up water the larger surface area for the flame to pass over regards Mike

I was disappointed with the esbit titanium stove on stability and performance I wish someone would make a titanium version of the folding pocket stove

I'm getting rid of my Ezbit stoves because the cost of the fuel tabs is prohibitive to make it not worth using

Sorry, I'm not sure I'm getting it. The original got a boil in 10.5mins, the titanium didn't 3mins later.
Adding a windshield (not the same one) did at least get both to boil, slightly quicker, but the original still faster, even though the (more expensive?) newcomer still had fuel to spare - but was that because of the different windshield?
At the end of the day, I feel you have ended up comparing apples with peaches.
Which gives me ( the consumer) the quickest, cheapest mug of tea?
Given the same windshield, which one performs better?
And does the titanium version justify the price/time/weight difference?

The original is the cheapest and fastest the titanium one has a following in the ultralight Community that it doesn't really deserve regards Mike
