Fantastic video MacSparky! You really know how to “sell” the functionality of Drafts! I’m working on my journal system now! So much help from one short video. Many, many thanks!!!
Workspaces works only on the paid version.
This is really helpful. I've been trying to find a simple writing app for manuscripts, journaling, blogging, sermon preparation, etc. I've been looking into Ulysses, iA Writer, Drafts, Pages, Word, etc. It would be great to have a somewhat one-stop-shop for writing needs, but an app/system that could also serve as an from which I could present lessons or preach. Is there a viewing option in Drafts that provides an "edited" version to reference?
Which of the apps mentioned above would you recommend as a "writing" app for these purposes?
Thanks for your help and insight.
Is it possible to create an automation to create the new journal entry every morning?
Great video but have a question. I have followed these instructions to the letter, and every time I run the action I see it flash on the screen and goes straight into the inbox. Am I missing something? If I set the "After Success" to: Nothing is works, but then I still have to direct it to the Archive or any other folder.
I’m interested in using Drafts as a journaling app by using their powerful transcribing software. I would love to be able to create logs throughout my day on thoughts I have, quotes I’ve found, events that happen etc. Rather than having to open an app, type out an update, make sure it’s the right file in the right app etc. I can just speak it out and drafts automation can do the rest. Any suggestions to make this happen? Love the video. Thanks
This is brilliant. Looking for a way to create journals using templates.
This is almost exactly how I have set up my journal and using Drafts.
I use an iOS shortcut instead so what I have to do is press a button on my home screen and it creates a new draft with the date and my location on it. Then when I export my drafts to iCloud, they are already in order because the files are automatically saved as the date name
Thans for your great video. It helped me a lot!
Really good tutorial, thanks a lot
I love Drafts for journaling with iOS Shortcuts. I append a YYYY-MM-DD.txt file each day both manually with text I enter from Drafts but also with automations via Shortcuts. Thanks MacSparky for the inspiration!
