      Dude I can’t even set up those shaders yet but this describes me on my little Anbernic devices when I mess with custom Shaders and Overlays.
      Now I just got a 4K OLED TV and installed Retroarch on my windows computer for the first time.
      It is so much easier on the little Linux devices with custom firmware I really have to learn a lot more about setting up Retroarch on windows and how to properly do the shaders stuff on here…
      I‘d love to know someone that already has experience who I could talk to for a proper setup.

    Tried it on my LGC1 OLED tv and it's amazing especially with BFI maxxed, it just looks like a CRT, both in looks and motion resolution.
    The guy who made the HDR version in particular even managed to fix the HDR on every modern games as a byproduct of this work, using reshade. He's a genius.
    Unfortunately this looks best on OLEDs (with BFI) but scanlines and OLED isn't a great idea, I already had slight scanlines burned in lol even without HDR. So it's better to use the crt grids without big dark scanlines if you're using theses on OLEDs

    • @CyberLabStudio
      @CyberLabStudio 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With an OLED TV, you really need to mix your content.

      I would think activating the automatic pixel shift option on the oled tv (if it has it) might prevent harm from scanlines.

    I don't use Retroarch because I am not a big fan of the overcomplexity and it not having great compatibility(I think Dolphincore has none of the cool features and is still 5.0 stable? Lmao), but I hope the shader madness will eventually jump over to standalone emulators. Some shaders are already ported over to standalone emus, but the vast majority are not as far as I can tell.

    Yeah you have to watch this in 4k on a tv otherwise it has all weird artifacts. I don't think Raspberry Pi 4 will handle it to be honest - general recommendation is to fix the resolution at 1080p max for performance reasons (even without shaders), but the new Pi 5 might.

    • @CyberLabStudio
      @CyberLabStudio 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The artifacts are mainly due to TH-cam not supporting RGB 4:4:4 Full colour format and instead forcing Chroma Subsampling/Compression to be applied to the video which wrecks the Subpixel detail of the CRT Mask.
      The creator of the Sony Megatron Color Video Monitor said that it will run on a Raspberry Pi 4 and I believe him.
      This Shader relies on the brightness of the display, not the power of the GPU to do its heavy lifting.

    There is a lot of missinformation about the HDR standards and also windows does not make things easier.
    It is not the same HDR10 than HDR1000. There are tons of monitors with HDR cerfitications that just EMULATES 10bit colors, but they are just 8bit panels with extra brightness and that is wrong. Only the expensive tvs or monitors have a 10bit panels and that is the problem.
    I tried to setup this shader on 4 tvs and monitors and only the expensive ones looks ok, the rest looks washed out. Also have random troubles with vulkan, dx12 and dx11, but thats another story.
    I guees we have to wait for true hdr becomes an standard and right now I am going to stay with my crt and the mega bezel shaders. Thanks for the tutorial

    So, I don't know if this issue only affects me, but attempting to use any open-API standard like OpenGL or Vulkan + Windows 11 HDR + fullscreen = reverting back to SDR, even though I'm still in HDR mode. Then, when I alt-tab to the desktop, everything is super, super dark, as if somebody just set the screen brightness to minimum. Disabling then reenabling HDR mode in Windows 11 returns the correct brightness levels, but if I alt-tab into the fullscreen app running OpenGL/Vulkan, the same thing happens again. For this reason, I've been having to use DX11/DX12 for HDR, and these CyberLab shaders run like absolute dogshite on DX11/DX12. Anyone got any tips on how I can get Vulkan + HDR + fullscreen to work as expected?

    • @CyberLabStudio
      @CyberLabStudio 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Have you updated your Slang Shaders using the Online Updater? Also try reinstalling your GPU Drivers. @RetroCrisis has a video which talks about a Vulkan fix. You can take a look at it and see if it helps. Also, you don't need HDR to be enabled in Windows before opening RetroArch if you're using the Vulkan Driver.
      What graphics card and Cores are you trying to run that are running slowly under DX11/12?
      I can run BSNES using either DX11/12 on a GeForce GX 1070 at 4K with no noticeable difference in performance between that and Vulkan.

    So I tinkered a lot on my Samsung KS9080 and it looks very dim if you follow this guide (probably because the Samsung is a LCD/LED and not OLED).
    I did the following for SNES:
    I chose the Shadow Mask Ultra Sharp Preset
    Changed in the Parameters:
    Peak Brightness (1450)
    Paper White (500)
    HDR Original/Vivid (0)
    Display 4k (1)
    Display Subpixel BGR (2)
    Mask/Colour Accurate (0)
    Colour System: NTSC-J (3)
    Phosphors: 1953 (5)
    D93 White Temp (13300)
    Saturation (0.35)
    Gamma (3)
    Please keep in Mind that my TV Settings might differ from yours. Mine is Brightness Set to Max, in Game Mode and Color Temp Warm 1.
    But with this settings, my game goes from very dim to very good bright and looking very aweyome!

      @RetroCrisis full version. I realized a large problem was that my phone isn't rooted, so I didn't have full access to all the folders needed. I changed the directory settings, and pointed everything to folders that I have access to. Then updated everything using the updater to repopulate all the folders. I can now load all the custom shaders. Now I'm just trying to find shaders that look nice on a 1440p screen.

      @RetroCrisis ok. Do you know what else would cause the shader to fail to load? I have HDR turned on in both RetroArch and on my Samsung Galaxy Book Flex from 2020 to my TV, I unzipped and put both files in the respective folders, and I have a Samsung 8K OLED TV. The HDR shaders flat out won't load, but any other shader will lag and slow down my game/audio significantly. Do you have any idea what would cause this? I am running RetroArch on Steam if that is an issue.

      In the shader parameters, there is a Display's Resolution option. Are you setting it to 1.00? 0.00 for 1080p, 1.00 for 2160p, and 2.00 for 4320p. Otherwise it is broken and scales improperly.
