I was chasing the Stornoway Ferry, attempting to show you a view of it pulling into the Stornoway Port. As I was running, out of me poured the story of the Lolaire. A ship that ran aground and ended up taking the loves of 201 servicemen who were returning home from World War I.

Only recently i found out that my great grandfather tried to the iolaire that night. However his friend was not on board so he left and later found him on the second ship that sailed that night, the Sheila.
Its nuts how close to land it sank, but they just were too far out to be safe! so close to home and safety after having survived the great war but they never did get home that last time.
