Hi lovely! What a beautiful video. Would you mind sharing where you purchased your cutting board? It looks thick and sturdy.

Thank you so much :) I appreciate that. I actually snagged her at Ross. I'm a bargain shopper. They usually have a good selection of thick butcher block cutting boards on mega discount. You could maybe find something similar at a Home Goods if you dont have a Ross around. It doesnt have a brand etched into it, unfortunately, so I cant be much help there.

I take the potatoes, sausage, bacon, spices, eggs, ect, like you do and add vegetables of all kinds bake it up like you do.At 78 its easier to make a big batch and after it has cooled, devide it up into my size helpings, freeze. I use small glass dishes, cover with cling wrap, put the lid on.I can put it in the oven,or microwave it for 5 minutes. I also do lunches and dinners that way. AS i have been ill this helps me so much.Cakes, soup, you name it. I bake in the dishes or in large pans depends.

My children are fully grown now, but meal prep WAS a life saver when they were little. Did it mostly with slow cooker meals, and other dinners, but these are great ideas.
I loved my 24 hens. Miss them.

My seven littles were always in the kitchen with me. There was no way around it because the kitchen and great room were together like most new homes out there. I would love a separate kitchen with a door like my childhood home. But I would be there by myself and that would be lonely. My 3 favorite things to keep littles busy........dry erase markers for the fridge door, big sheets of butcher paper taped to the floor for art, plastic kid safe knives with mushrooms or bananas for them to chop. Even if I didn't need the mushrooms they were always told that they were the most important ingredient. My youngest is now 14 and all 7 love mushrooms and they still seem to think I put them in everything!

Oh I love all of these tips for keeping little busy! And seven! Wow 🥰 I only wish I had that many. I like the butcher paper my 2 years old would just go nuts and stay busy for hours with that. My little boy would much prefer the mushroom chopping :)
Sounds like a lovely life you’re giving your children. Thank you for being here and for sharing that 🤍

Sorry, children should not be allowed up around the food that is being prepared with their feet ! You can always seat them at their own little table and let them play with an edible dough of their own…such as edible play dough. You can google it. When my son was young we made some together and handed out individually wrapped pieces for show and tell at his school for his classmates to play with. Plus, the child could fall off of the island and be hurt, or grab a knife. No, a child as young as yours needs constant supervision. These things can be done when the child takes its nap. I would never want my small child around raw eggs, because of bacteria that can make the child very sick or even worse. A friend of mine believed in getting her child ( around same age as yours), involved in the kitchen too at a very young age…letting her little girl help with raw eggs. She caught salmonella poisoning! She almost lost her because of this.😢 I would rather buy premade products until child is old enough to have an understanding about the kitchen and products that are being used in it.

I have heard this for ages. You may be correct. Not sure how old you are but surprisingly I survived a rustic and delicious childhood. My children were all over the kitchen with me also. Clean hands were always a must. I couldn't count the times a foot ended up in the wrong place😂😂
Grandma lived to 101. Somehow she nor my mom nor I every got sick eating dough with eggs😂😂
Perhaps our internal systems were better at dealing with...dirt😂😂

@@mydobie130love this :) sounds like a wonderful life. We too have never been sick from any raw egg/dough 😊 I want my children to have a deep appreciation for scratch made food and to know their way around the kitchen, so they are starting young and it’s their favorite thing so far.

@BloomingBayou mine all spent their days in the kitchen. We made "paste" out of flour and water for paper projects. In my day, we made paper dolls with it. We made playdough. The loved making their own butter in a jar by rolling it to each other.
There's something to be said for kids being allowed to be relaxed while learning to cook and getting really dirty outside😂
