awesome footage guys!!!, i had so much fun fishing with you guys, i honestly didn’t think i would come across my favorite youtubers, i hope to see you guys next year, the fishing is still really good in Valdez at the moment!! It’s like a final school came into the harbor i’ve never seen this before but at least 200 silvers were swimming back and forth and my friends and i nailed the crap out of them, we pulled 29 silvers out of the habor all sight snagging. the weather has been awesome, sun shining and the waters clear so these silvers are so easy to spot and snag😁

Loved the video! Brought back so many great memories of growing up and spending much of the 70’s with my grandparents who lived in Kenai. I could walk to the Kenai River from the house and caught some decent Reds and Silvers. The only King I got to hit my Pixie spoon was the one that pulled me in and got away. Thank God I was in a shallow spot and didn’t drown-that’s a powerful river that’s claimed many lives. The store in Soldotna used to display the largest King salmon caught that season in their freezer. It was usually 65-75 pounds. Our neighbors had a huge smokehouse with rows and rows of long strips of salmon drying until cured enough to bring inside and store in brown paper bags. Between the salmon they smoked and froze and the moose they bagged every fall, they never had to buy meat and I think they had some chickens too.
My grandfather was a plumber and owned his own company so he didn’t have time to do much hunting or fishing. He took me and my kid sister fishing a few times and taught me how to ride a snow machine. They did have a pretty big garden and a greenhouse but bought most of their own meat. I went back up for a while in the mid eighties but I didn’t stay long. I wish I could go back now as a young man with no physical handicaps. Unfortunately, I’m about 30 years too late. Anyway, I enjoy watching y’all have fun and living the Alaskan dream. Keep making those videos and enjoying the life. God bless you and acknowledge Him in all things; keep Him in first in your life and you can’t go wrong.

Great episode! Sea lions, bunny, dogs [xxoo] sea gulls, and, of course, FISH! Thanks, I only went to Alaska 1 time. I loved it but because of my oil fuel/smoke allergy, I realized I could never do Fall, Winter or Early Spring. Sigh... love to see you both do what I could not do.

I live on the mountains, the more near city is Passau, but still far, (just in the border with Germany), we have a lake and many small mountain rivers, believe it or not the lake, it is very similar to the place you both were fishing, I usually catch a lot too, and I also process them, but I do save the heads/ tails for soups and broths, I also make cookies out of dry bones, here is pretty cold on Winter, and a nice hot fish soup with some lemon can keep you pretty healthy, subbed from Austria🇦🇹!

Hello from Australia 🇦🇺!! That video is one of the best you both have done in my opinion. The fish are amazing and the way you both work together to jar them up is so exciting. Especially knowing you’ll be eating them soon . Fantastic.

I went to Alaska in 2000. My buddy and I rented a truck and camper for 10 days. We drove all over. It was the 3rd week in July. We went to Valdez and the pinks were running. We used pink pixies spoons and were catching on every cast!!! No B.S! We caught probably 300 fish in 2 days and got tired of catching the same kind and drove on. FYI pink pixies spoons for the pink salmon run in july!!!
Mahalo for you channel! I'm retired in Hawaii now no more cold for me. Lived in Colorado before here.

Oh how I love the canning process of the salmon in this video! I was watching your video thinking about buying salmon from the store to can it! 😂 I have a dream to go salmon fishing in Alaska with my 18 year old son. I am also a vegetarian that does not even eat fish but to have salmon hand caught in Alaska, I think I would make an exception! Also you two make a fabulous couple! I appreciate how kind Ariel is to you Eric, I have seen other videos where the spouse in not so kind to their other half and it does not go unnoticed. You two make a wonderful team!

Fantastic scenery shots that display the Alaskan beauty. Always thrilling to go fishing with Arielle & Erik on your journeys. Awesome salmon catch. Before watching you filleting the
salmon I thought the "family pack" fillets purchased at Superstore was farmed. But are the same size as yours so think they may be wild Atlantic salmon. Too timid to try your great canning recipes so just cut them up & freeze portions for later use. Always learn from your videos and get a feel good vibe watching you !.👍👍👍

Y'all... That was an AMAZING fishing haul! The canning process looks like so much fun (and a lot of work as well! But well worth the effort). So cool that y'all are able to fish so much to prepare for the next year. We cannot wait to get a property, live in our Skoolie and start stocking up on our preps (because food sovereignty is essential these days, and y'all got it going on!) Thanks for sharing how you're doing all this! We're so inspired, as always!
    Love y'all!

My husband and I have caught hundreds of sockeye salmon over the years. I have canned just as many salmon. I found that if the fish touch the metal lid it will cause a reaction and turn the fish black where it has stayed pressed against the lid. The first time we saw it we were very concerned about tainted food. We researched it and found out it is not poisonous but it is unsightly. Be careful when you put the fish in the jar and give yourself at least a 1/2 inch headspace. We invested in tattler lids, they are plastic and reusable. They are a little different to use but you don't have to reinvest the money for lids every year. Love the vid!

I was in Valdez for silver salmon fishing like 5 or 6 years ago. Chartered a boast for 3 days. When you get back to the dock, there's dudes that will clean and fillet your fish for a buck each. And there are flash freezing places within walking distance that will freeze and even ship your fish for you...
