For those not familiar with the Oakland, it was the forerunner of the Pontiac. GM came out with companion marques for their lines in the late 20's (Cadillac/LaSalle, Oldsmobile/Viking, Oakland/Pontiac, Buick/Marquette). Oakland is the only "parent" marque that was cut in the 30's while the Pontiac lived on (until recently :( )

My Grandfather bought a used 1910 Oakland before I was born. After he passed into the next world, my uncle took it to Buffalo. I drove it in Pennsylvania in 1966.

Being from Vegas I was kinda surprised by that Jennings Club Chief slot machine he has... I didn't recognize it as something used in Vegas... but that particular machine is from 1948 and Las Vegas didn't really get big until the 1950's. As It turns out the Sands used Jennings machines exactly like that one, where it says Club Chief on his, it just says Sands on theirs. Those particular slots were called "Chinese front" machines... and to the right collector it would be worth around $2200, maybe more. Pretty awesome if crowded shop he has!

Guys, I am assisting the owner of a 1913 Oakland and need some help with the water pump removal, for inspection - repair. Would you, John or Wayne consider helping me? This Oakland is outwardly restored, and I now have it running using the original motor-generator. I am a retired engineer, but not an Oakland expert. Have pictures.

As Always I Love the vids of the tour through history!! I guess I'll have to ask my previous private question on here. I know you go to a lot of the old engine and farm shows and I was wondering if you ever see any old power hammers for blacksmithing. I'm looking for something to rebuild and put in my shop this summer.
Thanks in advance and keep up the great vids! Go Oakland!!!!

+Bennie Hoskins Thanks Ben!! I answered your PM, sorry you didn't get it!! TH-cam's message system isn't the best!! Here's a copy of my reply...Thanks Ben!! Nah, I don't go to those type of actions (equipt. /machinery) anymore, Now most of the stuff I come across are antique engine or car related!! But ya never know, If I see anything like that coming up or if I stumble on something I'll contact you!!☺

Another very interesting video mate. Shame how cars out of fashion cost far more to restore than they are worth.
My friend has a 1932 Lanchester in solid, and could be working condition. Wants 4000pounds BUT would cost 50,000 to restore and only be worth 7000 when done.
However, if you were to just strip, do the chassis, clean everything etc could be done for ??500. Leave body original and you'd have the coolest car on the road.
Every since I first saw it in 2003 I've tried to find a buyer to save it, but so far no takers.
Shame as he's 74 and it'll be crushed or banger raced. It even had the original tool kit in the boot when I first saw it.

Roadking you have exceeded yourself yet again showing us another cool place. That guy with $140.000 in that car has more money than brains. Or as we say up here in Canada when we try to by tractors from some guys, sentimental value is worth $300 a pound more than scrap value L.O.L. I don't know what machine/ engine and body shops charge with you guys an hour. I know up here if you can't do enough your self 80-$100 an hour don't go far with work out sourced. Would be interesting to know how much of that $140.000 + at the end is waynes own time he bills the guy.
