Something worth considering with the ZV-E10… when you really do the math when it comes to the aperture for depth of field purposes, the kit lens is gonna end up giving you 5.25 to 8.4 as far as a 35mm equivalent is concerned. The ZV-1 is giving you 4.86 to 7.56. So out of the box, things are quite close, with a few more bells and whistles in favor of the ZV-1 depending on what you really need. If they put in a fast stacked 10 mp sensor for better low light and reduced rolling shutter then the zv-e10 would be THE camera. As it is they just took the old a6300 sensor and put it in a new body/processing chip, it explains why it's a similar price to the zv-1, but it's more of an expensive (when you take into account the lens you need) side grade than an up grade. Messing up the auto focus is ridiculous, it's arguably Sony's biggest selling feature, stabilisation on a camera this size is meh
@@I.am.Bananaman there is an app that fix the rolling shutter with a little crop. So if you don't care the cropping it's a good alternative. Can’t believe Jared keeps saying vloging is died in this content hungry day and age when large vlogging channels pop up everyday. Vlogs require far less planning and equipment. They can be turned out quickly and the average content consumers in many cases prefer the less polished content because it’s more relatable.
@SelfMadeMan_ I'm pretty sure he just says vlogging is dead to change the perspective of people. I saw one of his other videos(I think the zv-e10 video?) where he mentioned that he thinks that it'd be better referred to as a "content creator" camera than a "vlogging" camera. To me it felt like he wants to push that thinking to say that vloggers aren't "just vloggers" but they're content creators. That thinking could then breed better tech since it's somewhat of a better perspective(i think.) I don't disagree with you, just wanted to point it out cause I literally just watched the other video yesterday lol
Many thanks for the comparative studies. I’ve a query, in fact two - if I stay away from the ZV E 10 by one metre do I need to put additional micro phone for stunning sound quality? If yes can I use Rode wireless go pro with ZV E 10? Grateful for your answer.
I love the M50's so much, I have 2. One for gimbal work, and one as a backup rig for my EOS RP. Love them for there versatility, and how light they are paired to ef mount lenses.
Hi Jared, love your video. Just to mention, ZV1 video also OVERSAMPLED from 6K just like ZVe10. For video it is superb to shoot whenever you want with this pocketable camera. It pushes me to shoot more often than interchangeable lens camera. Using it for a year and still loving it.
"ZV1 video also OVERSAMPLED from 6K just like ZVe10" I don't think so this is correct! It is not even mentioned in Sony website, so how you obtained this information?
@@yassersaeed2010 I haven't done the math, but ZV-1 has very little crop (if not using image stabilization), so I'm sure one can calculate how much the 4K is based but it is definitely not just a 4K subset of the sensor, as 4K is roughly 8.3MP, and this is a 20MP sensor.
I absolutely LOVE the image quality coming out of the ZV-1 it is a content creators dream. BUT... That "side screen" has ruined so many videos and photos for me with everyone looking over to the side rather than straight at the camera. Sony's flip up screen are much better, if Sony release a ZV-1 with a flip up screen I will be the first inline to buy one.
M50II for me. I sold my 5DMk3 but retained my M50II which will soon become a backup for my R series. M50II is versatile if you do both still & video. I use vitrox speed booster with EF lens which allows me to use M50II like a full frame. I also use vitrox adaptor if I need a telephoto (using just one lens on both). Great camera and never to be underated.
100% agree The M50 (I and II) is so underrated. I use mine for sport, functions/formal events, portraits, landscape... all the lenses are tack sharp, many are image stabilised so you can use lower shutter speeds for light and extremely small

Thanks bro for this video, it was really helpful. I was deciding between the m50 mark 2 and the sony zv e10. I like the plug and play livestreaming option on the sony zv e10 and the fact that it has unlimited recording. What stood out in the m50 mark 2 is the dual pixel focus; compared to the sony zv e10, it appears easier to use. This is a tough one...
Great video - Just ordered my ZV-1 as for me it is all about portability. I have an A73 as my main camera and want something I can just pop in my pocket when out and about. I get that interchangeable lenses will attract a lot of folk, but as soon as you put some decent glass on the other Sony or Cannon then you are into carrying a bag...
Sony says the ZV-1 got a firmware upgrade that gave it livestream and webcame capabilities, and also said that you can wirelessly connect it to the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II smartphones for an external camera.
Owning both ZV's I can say you're overstating the build quality thing of the E10. It really doesn't feel as cheap as you make it seem. At all. Went a little to hard about that aspect.
Thank you! Hubby bought me a a cannon EOS rebel T7 and I was so appreciative but it wasn’t good for what I wanted to do. I wanted to get into vlogging when I was still popular and shoot pics of our kids. This video helped me make up my mind on my next camera and or what to look for. If I had to choose I would choose the canon but you said it might not me a good investment right now. So I am looked around before purchasing! ❤
@@truthseeker6804 I've used it about a year and mostly use for long video shooting 1+ hour and seem to still work fine without any issue beside battery degrading, yet battery is cheap though.
You missed to mention that the Live Streaming is only at 720p. I am part time content creator and still confused either to buy zv-e10 or wait for zv-e11 or e20 with better stabilization or IBIS for outdoor shoots as it’s perfect for indoor work of product showcase and talking head.
I shoot hybrid - sometimes stills and sometimes video. I do content for a church and having an A and B cam on a project is useful. I don't shoot myself -- so, I don't care about the vlog marketing. The ZV1's predecessor, the RX100M7, is better set up for stills (I often shoot manual) and can play in the video space. The ZV1 is tailored for video, has the nice mic, and can do stills with less convenient controls. So, I have both cameras. // I enjoy Jared's videos, but the audio mix makes him sound like he's yelling all the time. Dial it back!
Good Video but I feel like you missed some shortcomings of the canon, all sony lenses can be used on all sony cameras not the case for canon, while there's no optical stabilization you can get lenses that have it on the sony, also it comes with free software to stablize for you, lastly the canon has terrible crop and autofocus in 4k video
I'm halfway through and I've already gathered very useful information, thanks! Apart from that: the video is very entertaining as well, I'm having a good time. Now I'm gonna continue watching to the end.
Little correction here, both ZV-E10 and ZV-1 won’t get any benefit from using UHS-II card. It is limited to UHS-1 speed. And yeah like the others said, ZV-1 support streaming mode after firmware update to version 2.00. And the update has been released in February 2021.
the canon M mount is great, i can go out with a couple of efm lenses and the M50 on a dressy day out with a small bag or i can go out on a wildlife shoot with 600mm+ ef glass such a great versatile camera system, it really is like two cameras in one.
Problem with the M mount is it has been discontinued, unofficially. The stats show everything. 8 lenses in 9 years, whereas RF had 18 or more lenses in 2 years. Serious APS-C shooters, Fuji X is king. Casual APS-C shooters, E-mount is king.
I don't understand the specs. But for beginners? Don't know anything about setting but will learn overtime & for the long term . Which one do you recommend ?? for indoors just for the product (not face) like furniture & stuff.( Zve10 / m50ii)

Thank you for this video! I was debating between the Canon and the ZV-E10 for my TH-cam videos; I'm starting to record my Voice Over Acting journey and the ZV-E10 looks like the better choice for me. Thank you again and have a great day!
I bought my first M-50 in 2020 new for 500€ with the kit lens. It´s a great little camera, and I just bought another new M-50 with the kit lens for 386€. Both amazing deals. I don´t know if Canon are going to discontinue this system, but I bought both cameras so cheap, I can always sell them for more, and move on to the next system. Thanks for the video. Enjoyed it.
While anyone whos been around cameras for even a short time will gravitate to the interchangeable lens cameras. This is mostly do to upgradability of the lens and future lens choices. These people know that buying the ZV-E10 with the kit lens is fine because getting a better lens later on is absolutely something they would do. However if you never buy another lens and you only use the one that came in the kit, then why pay extra for an interchangeable lens camera? Granted the ZV1 at the time of recording was $100 more than it is now (making the ZV1 a great buy now), but if you need a f/1.8 24mm lens because that is what you record and vlog at, then why would you pay extra and then some for a lens to buy the ZV-E10? I like my ZV1s I use for recording especially with overhead mounts. I like my m50 I have as my primary camera, but would like to upgrade it (maybe to ZV-E10) so I can record 4K without a crop. I'm almost certain I would get a ZV-E10 in my use case, but I will also still utilize the other cameras in my studio. I would say every creator should have a small point and shoot like the ZV1 in their kit regardless of the rest of their kit. This is because it is so handy to have due to size, weight, and ease of use.
Canon M50 Mark II for photography and simple video, Sony ZV-1 For vlogin or simple video and simple photo, Sony ZV-E10 video more professional and simple photo.
The "1 inch" sony sensor is actually a "1.0-type" sensor. and they rarely or never say it's a 1 inch. But everybody else does the mistake. the size is actually 1/1.7".
Even that's a really vague sizing chart. Sensor sizing has always bothered the hell out of me. FF, C, H. I get those as they're just a general size, you can comprehend which one is bigger once told and since nobody really uses 'H' anymore, it's even easier. But when you start getting smaller than APS-C, you get fractions and other arbitrary measurements. I wish they'd just either measure them like a TV screen or just give you the longest side for all sensors. That's how they measure, FF. So we're already 1/1.25 of the way there
@@caodesignworks2407 well, it's simple, if it's not FF or APS-C, then it's garbage you shouldn't even consider as your phone will have just marginally worse quality

Great video but would you mind answering a very important question because most reviews on youtube totally miss that: Does any of these cameras overheat? I have a Sony 5100 (precursor to the Zv1) that overheats in less than 20-25 minutes which makes it very hard to do videos, especially if you are standing up while making a video and have to go else where to wait for the camera to cool down and then the deal with the hassle of finding the exact same spot you stod before. Please address the issues!

The problem is you need to edit the video with the app to fix it and ends with crop so who knows if this better. I think it's important to know about it nobody talks about the app at least it's an alternative.
That thinking could then breed better tech since it's somewhat of a better perspective(i think.)
I don't disagree with you, just wanted to point it out cause I literally just watched the other video yesterday lol
How does the M50 do with photos?
@@RichieColemanSr It's pretty good. :)
@@tosvus Well I am receiving my ZV1 soon and well try to compare the video with my A7s M2 and A7 M3 and comeback with my finding.
ZV-1 is 5k to 4K, just like the RX100s, not 6k to 4k like A6xxx.
I love my Sony ZV1 and with a gimbal it works the best!
Have you ever used a gopro. How does zv1 compare in high sunlight to gopro. I vlog with gopro and looking for crisper more stable video.
Your inverted comma Dr. Evil accent is awesome. Give me more!
100% agree
The M50 (I and II) is so underrated. I use mine for sport, functions/formal events, portraits, landscape... all the lenses are tack sharp, many are image stabilised so you can use lower shutter speeds for light and extremely small
I went for the Zv1, I love it.
RX100VA for travel, A6400 for APS-C studio and B-cam, A7C/A7iii for better full frame video/photo 😎
Unless youre going for a7siii, go for panasonic
I have the Sony zv1 and just love the pocketability of it. It is a great second camera.
LOOK, i know it doesn't have a nationwide presence, and only has 230 locations. but they are all on in TEXAS and should get an honorable mention. Tastes good without the sauce, GREAT crunch, and the SPICY are so good I could cry. Just a short or something PLEASSSE
I personally use my zv1 for my home streaming studio. I love it
This is the second video of yours I have seen and I am now convinced to get the Sony ZV-1 for video.
Thank you.
That was really thorough - even if I did have to turn the volume down because you tend to speak louder than necessary.
This is a tough one...
hey what did you end up getting?
I wanna know too, what did u get?
@MasterRienowhat did you get.
25:45 i know im late to this party, but the M50 does support IS provided the lens supports it.
Which one's better for pro photography?
Great video - Just ordered my ZV-1 as for me it is all about portability. I have an A73 as my main camera and want something I can just pop in my pocket when out and about. I get that interchangeable lenses will attract a lot of folk, but as soon as you put some decent glass on the other Sony or Cannon then you are into carrying a bag...
Sony says the ZV-1 got a firmware upgrade that gave it livestream and webcame capabilities, and also said that you can wirelessly connect it to the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II smartphones for an external camera.
Really, so no need buy extra tools just update firmware?
@@osirusj275 yes
The Sony ZV1 does have live stream and web cam capabilities! It was updated with firmware almost a year ago..
Happy to hear you tried out bouldering, hope you grow to enjoy it.
Owning both ZV's I can say you're overstating the build quality thing of the E10. It really doesn't feel as cheap as you make it seem. At all. Went a little to hard about that aspect.
I don't always watch you, Jared, but when I do I pay attention.
I'm a sony shooter all the way, but I have some canon gear and i still think canon is pretty great. My EF to FE adapter sure does get a workout.
so accurate i was looking at the 3 cameras and i see this. this is heaven
What do you prefer for videoblogger?
1:40 THANK YOU! Why is everyone making reviews as though cameras are only used for youtube?
ZV1 and ZV E10 in Sony Help website states tar record limit for 4K is about 30 minutes in High Temp profile mode. Is that right?
No, if turn on Auto Power Off temp to high. I shoot over 1 hour with ZV-1, with usb powered plugin.
@@Technobby not sure how sustainable turning of the overheating warning is for someone like me who records daily about an hour.
@@truthseeker6804 I've used it about a year and mostly use for long video shooting 1+ hour and seem to still work fine without any issue beside battery degrading, yet battery is cheap though.
My side of TH-cam vlogging def not dead
I use an M50 Mark II for stills only. The autofocus is quite fast and when using the EVF only the battery lasts a lot.
I f_ing love your hair !! 😍
I’m mainly a Sony shooter. But do have the m50 as my video camera and it’s not that bad at all
What's a good camera if your content is trains?
Great great great review I loved it!!!!!
Why not Fuji?
I'm halfway through and I've already gathered very useful information, thanks! Apart from that: the video is very entertaining as well, I'm having a good time. Now I'm gonna continue watching to the end.
Little correction here, both ZV-E10 and ZV-1 won’t get any benefit from using UHS-II card. It is limited to UHS-1 speed.
And yeah like the others said, ZV-1 support streaming mode after firmware update to version 2.00. And the update has been released in February 2021.
Sony Zv-e10 works with a external microphone too?
great review on all the camera's . also great job keeping it interesting.
Hello Jared. Ref the Canon M50 if I continuously video and stop and I start videoing again do i start the 29 minutes from beginning again?
Such great info. Love that shirt, hope you make it to Power-Con this year.
the canon M mount is great, i can go out with a couple of efm lenses and the M50 on a dressy day out with a small bag or i can go out on a wildlife shoot with 600mm+ ef glass
such a great versatile camera system, it really is like two cameras in one.
so can the e mount
Problem with the M mount is it has been discontinued, unofficially. The stats show everything. 8 lenses in 9 years, whereas RF had 18 or more lenses in 2 years.
Serious APS-C shooters, Fuji X is king. Casual APS-C shooters, E-mount is king.
You can do that with any camera?
Kill the M-mount, from now on only RF glass.
They need to first release the R7
You own a kitty cat? I think that's the other way around! ;) Great video. Very informative and low key. I'm subscribed now.
I don't understand the specs. But for beginners? Don't know anything about setting but will learn overtime & for the long term .
Which one do you recommend ?? for indoors just for the product (not face) like furniture & stuff.( Zve10 / m50ii)

'Went to Paris with my ex' 💓
So cool 😎
No strings attached
Which is best camera for video ? Df
The zv1 fits in your pocket. If I want to tote around lenses, ill bring my A7iii.
because you have other cameras. this is most peoples main camera.
@@truthseeker6804 everyone has their use case.
I hike with mine in my pocket, with a mini tripod/handle and a half cage. And I love the ND filter, enabling me to shoot cinematic settings.
Ooh, you can pitch for a rename of the "dead cat" to a "Microphone Fro"
Hey fro keep the videos coming I've learned a lot from you and I wanted to throw you a grateful thank you!
I've been sitting here thinking like I always do. I wonder if a professional photographer like the fro can tell the difference between SLR camera images versus the really expensive one. Or even experienced photographer with one of these I'd like to see that I'm wondering if there's a video
Enjoyed it.
What camera has all the positive things from this video ? Sony a7iii ?
How about the overheating I’ve heard the zve10 does all the time while filming?
m50 mkii with sigma 16f1.4 and rode wireless go is the winner of the 3 imo
been waiting for this one!
Because the e10 has a bigger sensor, id never buy a dedicated camera that is worse than my iphone
Canon M50 Mark II for photography and simple video, Sony ZV-1 For vlogin or simple video and simple photo, Sony ZV-E10 video more professional and simple photo.
Doesn’t the EV-10 also have digital zoom?
@@666Tomato666 Lol
@@666Tomato666 quite simple and straighforward.
@@666Tomato666 correct, with one caveat: phones are better because phone companies know what theyre doing when it comes to calibration and computational photography
You can use zv1 as a webcam. You just need to plug the USB cable.
Live stream too I heard... But no touchscreen ya
Zv-e10 is UNAVAILABLE everywhere. So i must choose between M50 mark ii and ZV1 and i'm confused. I don't need to change lenses, but i need video quality and a big BOKEH, and i'm afraid that ZV1 cannot have the same bokeh depth as the other cameras. I mainly will use it for Twitch vlogging, and i want my background (3 mt) be nicely blurred. My use will be indoor live streaming camera, indoor youtube videos of myself, some photos for instagram. ZV1 or Canon?

Great video but would you mind answering a very important question because most reviews on youtube totally miss that:
Does any of these cameras overheat? I have a Sony 5100 (precursor to the Zv1) that overheats in less than 20-25 minutes which makes it very hard to do videos, especially if you are standing up while making a video and have to go else where to wait for the camera to cool down and then the deal with the hassle of finding the exact same spot you stod before. Please address the issues!
Hi Jared, is there a new ZV1 E10 replacement coming out from sony or anything new?
Do you think we’ll be seeing a zv-2 in the near future? I’m stuck on rumors saying there will be one soon and I JUST bought the zv-1 but am tempted to return it and wait for a new one…
I came here to find out which of the old camera models might still be worth buying in a winter sale, and while I'm late to this party, I am SO happy, I watched this video. I was LMAO!!! Minute 10:55 and 14:00... baaahahahaaa, so good.
Very nice review
You didn't say that the M50 Mark II has a big crop when in 4k mode. That is something that you need to know, especially when planning lenses and focal lengths you want to buy.
I have an a7RIV and an a6000 and slew on lenses for both. I would like to see a comparison between the Sony ZV-E10 and a6600.
I looked around and the main difference seems to be EVF, build quality, optical stabilsation, but the sensor and the image quality is exactly the same, if I remember correctly
True. The focus in ZV E10 is a little bit hard to use. I don’t understand either. I thought it will just automatically focus on face but when I record myself, it wasnt doing as I wanted. Just weird
Love the videos. But can you please give a review on the fujifilm sx10. I was debating on the Sony ZV-E10 or the fujifilm sx10. Thank you for your reviews they are very helpful
Great video but one should compare apple with apple. The Z1 do not have optical IS, it fix lens have it. Its the same for the other 2 cameras. IS or OSS will be in the lens.
Awesome video Jared, loving the energy and giving the best quality non bias review. I don't have much experience with cameras but I do favour the ZV-1 for my wild camping videos so on that, big thumbs up for this review from over here in Scotland UK👍
For my first camera and for casual user and maybe dont want invest lens camera which one is better between sony zv 1 or sony zv e10 with kit lens only for 5 years early?
