It's Satoshi's Hawaiian Platter that does it for me! I ate one of the foods on that platter almost every day as a kid. We had one-finger poi usually, and if I'm not remembering wrong, our chicken long rice had a little shōyu in it. Haupia was my favorite dessert. Thank you for showing us Kalo, guys! We have a large Hawaiian community here in Las Vegas, so I think I may be able to find some of these dishes. They look so good - must try!!

You mean Portuguese Sweet Bread.. we locals know it as such Mr.Taira of King's Bakery calls it 'Hawaiian' when he deserted us (lol) here in Hawaii for Torrance CA in 1977 to capitalize on anything Hawaiian...and increase production of his bread that has since become world famous.
$45 for the Hawaiian platter and $15 for one laulau? That is way too expensive. I can make all those items on the platter and laulau for less than $10 per person. Helena's is the best though if you're looking for traditional mea'ai Hawai'i (Hawaiian food) 👌 and you get more for your dollar than at Chai's.

This is not hawaiian food. This is closer to local/plantation style food that is the result of different ethnic groups living together.
