this guy is the most fluid and clean gymnast I saw in the last 20 years, there's a lot of power gymnasts like Nemov, but the grips, positions, retakes, landings of Ichimura are fluid , he's poetry in motion.
Crazy how we will never see a gymnast like Uchimura again, MAG or WAG. No gymnast will match what this man has accomplished, I can guarantee there will be no gymnast ever to reign world champion for 8 consecutive years ever again. Unparalleled greatness, undisputedly best gymnast to ever compete, to ever enter and dominate the gymnastics world. I'm glad he has said he will not retire after the most recent World Championships in Kitakyushu, and how he will now compete not for winning but for enjoyment, he never stops growing as a person. Bravo Uchimura, you will forever be the true king of gymnastics.

@mungoclarkson Yes the TF was what I was referring to. It was beautiful, upright, and stuck. Wish Horton had done that in EF just so Kai and his fugly form wouldn't have won. But also agree Kohei is one of of those gymnasts that have tremendous air sense and always seems to land with a stick on every event. Quite a phenom.
Man he is just a beast and such a natural talent. For a relatively new skill the only thing I can somewhat criticize is the deep squat on the stuck landing. Compared to horton's upright landing in the 08 olympics
Practically done with all 3 twists before he even crosses the level of the bar. Amazing. Watched men's floor in 2022 worlds the other day. Every gymnast, every landing, a little hop. It's like no one even expects it any more. Real disappointment.

Horton landed very well in TF but took hops in TQ and EF and frequently has in subsequent competitions - Uchimura is a more consistent sticker!
