    It takes a special man to make such unique music that is like nothing else and be planted firmly into the ground and sober as he was.

    A one-man show by Frank would have been electrifying.
    Just FZ speaking his mind on stage, shown on TV.
    Fuck me, man, can you imagine what Frank would have made of this century so far?
    Having said, to paraphrase Hunter Thompson, it hasn't yet gotten weird enough for me...

    At the time, I have to be honest, Zappa seemed overreationary and paranoid. But now in retrospect you can clearly see all he was worried and warning us about is happening and it all started in the '70's and '80's. By the late '80's Zappa had clearly had enough. I wish more of us had taken him seriously and worked harder to change and correct the crooked path US politics has taken over the last 50 years.

    Ironic how he spoke about how people had become comfortable with lying, when he was constantly having affairs with other women. I suppose I have to consider that he didn't lie about it, he was open about it. I love Zappa, I have forty plus of his CDs, and a huge amount of vinyl, but I recognize he was a very flawed person. I understand his cynicism, but his view was very one sided.

    I always wondered if he was really that political or if he thought that's what sells? One minute he sounds like a libertarian and the next he is talking about nationalism outside of the US, weird.

    The continuing truth in Zappa's observations always triggers defensive outbursts and parroted taking points from right-wingers with zero sense of comprehension or irony, as expected.

    • @augustusbetucius2931

      And yet some right wingers have tried to claim him for their own in recent years. Anyone familiar with his work or thinking knows this isn't true. Now, with Moon's book, she has confirmed it. She mentions how Frank and Gail were almost violently opposed to anyone in the family voting Republican.

  • @susanbishop5349
    @susanbishop5349 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    He is never “funny”. He is sarcastic, he hates people, he thinks and perhaps he was of superior intelligence to most people. I feel sorry for his children. I don’t think he was capable of love. He did make some incredibly amazing music

    • @susanbishop5349
      @susanbishop5349 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    He speaks as if there is an absolute morality. He is right, while rejecting it. He declares sin (violation of the perfect law) while promoting it. He thinks he is god. Too bad for him.

    • @jayarava
      @jayarava 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It wouldn't help. He was saying it all back then and America still ended up voting for Trump. Trump will be President again and the USA will cease to be a functioning democracy. Probably best that FZ didn't witness that.
