    I think it would make sense for every emerging country to offer this type of visa. It can only benefit their economies. I think especially of countries like Colombia, Turkey, Argentina, Serbia, Russia, Vietnam, South Africa and even some of the Gulf States.

    I think the winning country would be the one who actually comes out with a realistic tax scheme for "digital nomads" instead of just saying "you're a tax resident, why dont you pay for our legal/financial system without having access to it?"

    Great information. But, saying "tons of crime" was an unfair statement in my opinion. Yes, Brazil has areas that have tons of crime. But, to imply that Brazil as a whole has tons of crime is simply not accurate. I already live about 40% of the time in Brazil and have for the last 6 years, and I have not even witnessed crime there. It really depends on the area just like in the US. Not sure why it was necessary to say that when the topic was about the new visa option. I'm not trying to beat you up, but I was a bit taken aback by that comment.

    • @OffshoreCitizen
      @OffshoreCitizen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's fair crime does cluster but let's be honest that the vast majority of all murders in the world take place in just 4 countries Brazil being one of them that's before we start accounting for robberies etc. But yes stick to certain areas and it's not bad.

    By not allowed to work in Brazil, I assume you mean, not allowed to take a job with a local employer, but allowed to work for a foreign employer.
    The big question is what are the implications for the foreign employer tax wise? I mean, if an employee is working in Brazil, has the company become a Brazilian tax resident? Does it now have Brazil source income it must account for?
    The employee has their own issues of course potentially, but if an employee obtaining this visa subjected my company in whatever other jurisdiction to Brazilian regulations and taxes, I would be somewhat upset as an employer.

      I love Brazil but everyone I know has been robbed including me - 2 of my friends stabbed, one of them died. Spent 1 year living between Curitiba and Floripa. After making lots of friends over a year I absolutely felt I couldn't trust a single one them - not one. I accept that though as I don't believe they trust each other down there. Different world. Police are ruthless are corrupt to the bone..... Still I highly recommend for a vaca, friendly people, lively culture and my dating life was very rich to say the least. Now that I am more into crypto and like to dress nicer I will prefer safer countries. Gets tiring looking over your shoulder all the time. I'm in Czechia at the time of writing this.... Would visit again and overall had a great experience (even thought I'm light on some jewelry)))
