A similar patter from the Ricky Jay and his 52 Assistants show. I have the DVD of the 52 Assistants show from HBO and the picture quality isn't as good as this, also it's in full screen. What's the source of this video?
lawndogmoon2 This comes from his documentary “The Mysteries and Menthors of Ricky Jay” by Deceptive Practice. This here I think is the full view of the effect,as in the HBO Special the frame cuts to the assistants.
@@itstoaoagain I've seen the documentary and don't recall such a large uninterrupted portion of the show included like this. Must be from the special features, deleted/extended scenes or something from a DVD... This is a different performance from the HBO special, which he has two men at the table with him. In this video the move he does at 1:51 is what intrigues me the most. In the HBO special when he takes the stack of cards off the top, he looks at the bottom card in his hand (not an ace), then turns over the top card from the stack on the table (an ace), and says if he cut one card too short or too many he would not have cut an ace. I always thought that he had made a mistake there since the card he shows first isn't the ace. In this performance he cuts the cards, DOESN'T look at the card at the bottom in his hand, turns over the ace, then looks at the bottom card and does the same patter about had he been off by one. I guess it wasn't a mistake but it does indeed come off like one in the HBO version.
