Very smooth player Dan. Right in the pocket brother. And I realize this is not one of your Basses, but as a Luthier, I’m impressed with your skills in design and knowledge of the Bass.
Hey Dan, I followed your advice using Epic Custom Shop pickups for a project upgrade on a GLarry P-bass copy. They arrived quick and I can’t wait to begin the overhaul. Like yours, I’m doing tuners, nut, pickups, wiring and bridge. Thanks for the inspiration.
What, no tone pot hacks?! Just kidding, this is great. It's also awesome you are selling versatile ways to achieve things like this. I currently have a cheap Samick P-Bass I upgraded the humbucker and then added a flat humbucker to the bridge. I have two volumes for each (reusing the tone pot hole). It originally only had a volume and tone pot. For tone I added a 3-way toggle switch that goes from 0-500-1,000 for the volume blend of both pickups. It may not be the MOST versatile, but is much better than what I had and works great for most church music settings so far. Keep up the good work Dan!
Hi Dan, been following your channel for some time now from as far away as Scandinavia,- learned a lot from you already. Waiting eagerly to see you delve into building/ constructing/ designing? 5-,6- or even 7 string basses or maybe even double neck 5-strings,- one neck fretless . Would order one on the spot and pay for the shipping half way around the world. Remember your early kit builds and home made luthier tools,- compared to back then you´ve come such a long way that even your budget friendly kit builds start looking like like high end instruments. Metal guitar player here,- who happens to love basses. On a different note: Since the name of your channel is the as it is,- all we need now is tutorials on how to build your own budget friendly AR15s/AK74s and Peacemakers/Desert Eagles.. :) Keep up the good work,- much appreciated
Dan, can you talk more about going into the studio and what you look for in a bass sound and why you make basses that you make in relationship to the studio?
I was going to add a series/parallel switch to one of my PJ's when I change the strings on it next, and I will now be adding a blower switch to the list as well.
Is this the same wiring that was done in the "build your dream rickenbacker bass for under $400" video from a while ago? I LOVED that bass and would definitely like to try making my own; if this is the same wiring set up done in that one, its an easy buy for me!
Hey Dan, what was that spray that you used back in the day to quiet down noisy pots? Awesome video! I'm working on two of my basses currently, and implementing a lot of the upgrades you've shown over the years!
First time seeingyour video I have a couple of question for you. What do you think of bill lawrence q filter and his pick ups also do you do work on other peoples bass ? Keep up the good work. joe
I'm building a Super Rickenbacker because of you and your videos. It's gonna have either a Musicman or Soapbar pickup in the bridge, a Bartolini Rick-Style neck pickup. AND.. AND.. A Kahler Tremolo.
Great idea on the options, but why not add a blend pot, like on some Ibanez, therefore negating the need for the stereo split? I've done a lot of bass playing, bit not in abt 10 years. Otherwise, GREAT video, and it gives me ideas for a future bass build- probably a classic P bass. If you add the blend, you can put bass and treble on 1 push pull pot, do the series/Para on 1, and Volume, something similar.
Now that I've watched it :D The stereo at end really opens did cut through. Definitely want to do that. I am nervous of installing the blower in my bass because I can't be trusted with my amps volume knob but damn.. That slap with series and blower was great to my ears.
That's a neat bass, i like that...a good sand & a nitro finish...the body shape is very similar to Solar bass's but with a different headstock...neat tone,if their the Epic p-up's i just ordered a PJ set for a Fender Jaguar Bass as they are really good....i want to put a series/parallel pot/switch on the Jag bass so very handy video....
Does that diagram work on two hummbuckers? I imagine the difference it's not much, i dont think that u can overrun the variable resistences of 500k of the knobs but i dont know
Hey Dan, how would I go around implementing the Rickenjazzper diagram to a two-knob (vol+tone) bass? I already bought your three-knob diagram but I have a few different basses and I'm not versed at all in electronics. Would love to buy the two-knob version off your site though!
Love you're wiring tricks. They've inspired me to try diferent things and find my own tone. Thanks Dan!
These tricks are all awesome, I've used them on builds before and they're a treat to experience in real life. Nice Dan!! 🙌🙌

best jam track ever ....thanks Dan
Very fun wiring hacks. It's fun all the tricks with the push pull pots out there.

Thanks.
I think the series+blower sounds best but I'd cut the mids just a little bit and cut the lows just a smidgen. I'm digging that stereo mode.

Great looking bass.

Love it. The series + blower almost sound like a Stingray

@@GunsandGuitars u have a only Pbass Dan - o - sound wiring kit?

I keep forgetting you have one of my shirts, always a pleasant surprise when you wear it 🤣
Those hacks sound pretty darn good my frienf

Awesome stuff. How hard do you think it would be to add a 3 way pot to a Ibanez TMB30?
You should do a video for the Glarry GW101 on How to make it sound better like pickups and wiring etc.
Now that I've watched it :D
The stereo at end really opens did cut through. Definitely want to do that. I am nervous of installing the blower in my bass because I can't be trusted with my amps volume knob but damn.. That slap with series and blower was great to my ears.
It may be a cheap bass, but it looks and sounds great, even just in basic parallel mode.
It's like you read my mind sir!

Does this wiring trick work with Active Pickups?

hey Dan, do you only take pay pal on your site?
Yes. But you can pay through PayPal with any debit or credit card.
Those are some really awesome tones, don't have to pick ups for this mod yet but keeping this on the list.
? How much do you charge to do one of these up.
Links in the description!
are you using the ampeg clone on this ?
Actually no, just direct into my recording interface.
Wiring DRAWING is a more accurate description. Written instructions included would've been nice.
Pre-amp pedals are far more versatile and worth the money. All the tones you demonstrated and MORE could easily be achieved with a preamp.
Still going with the guns thing HUH??
How about: parallel with blower
That can easily be added with a third switch!
First😎🤘
