    That’s a great idea! Fairly new FNP working out patient pediatrics. I’ll say to parents I’m going to consult my colleague to make sure I’m not missing anything. Or I have to go double check the guidelines on that because I haven’t come across this in a while.

    Thank you so much for these videos! I graduated in July and I’m starting my first job in the next two weeks. The good thing is that it is the same clinic I did my rotations at. The supervising physician is my doctor and was my preceptor. I am so scared but very excited. I have a lot of resources that will sit at my desk. Hollier pharm in a flash, her antibiotic cards, steroid guide, her labs and imaging guide, FNP practice guidelines, and an algorithm book I have. I am also debating between Epocrates and up to date. It is good to know that I can step out and visit my resources. I will also be given a laptop to take home. The clinic, which is primary care will start me with 8 patients that are less complicated and go from there. I will continue to watch your videos until I start. They help with the anxiety.

    😭😭😭 I sooo needed this! In my last clinical rotation and it’s so discouraging when I don’t know how to handle complex patients and on top of that in a gerontology setting. I feel incompetent and often go early to prep and review so I can be prepared and for things I don’t know brainstorm what’s I can trying to figure out a good plan of care with my preceptor. So thank you for this. I really appreciate you saying this as a soon to be new grad

      You're so very welcome. It's such a huge undertaking to become a new nurse practitioner, and especially in this tough time right now. I always find that both in my own experience and the students I precept, we learn SO much in a very short time, and no one feels ready to start. But you can definitely do it!! Sending you all the best ❤

    thank you!!!!!! this takes such a weight off my shoulders, pt care is soo crucial to me, sometimes I stammer cause I just dont know, then pt confidence slips a little, then by the end of the visit they tell me how much they appreciate my "human-ness" . MUCH APPRECIATION

    I love this, such a great video for a new NP. Thank you! The major insight I took away from this video was what does the patient really care about. Focusing on that really eases my anxiety about not being that textbook provider! I will definitely rewatch this video as a reminder to myself when I start practice next month.

    That line was perfect… i need more! Love you’re videos- can I make a video request? 🙏🏼 Can you help us with how to talk to patients and ..not sound like a moron and just tips on how to build rapport and have them trust you. I am a student still and I feel like it is so awkward at times to be the student and it feels like the patient looks like you like you don’t know what you’re doing… ? I hope I made sense there .. going on 24 hours of no sleep whoops

    I just freeze up and go blank in my mind...how to overcome the brain blanking out?

    • @RealWorldNP
      @RealWorldNP  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I use a ton of scripts that help me through those moments. It depends on when you are blanking out, but there is nothing wrong with saying, "That's a great question! I want to check on something about that first, so I am making the right recommendation, so give me a minute and I will be right back." Then, step out, center yourself, check your facts, and go back in. Good luck!
