'small' but pretty sound. I made it to intermediate classical level and nail-play. That is when a steel string really sounds best. The cheap ($350 NEW ) Guild with padded Guild bag and electronics is one of the nicest VERY cheap China guitar I have seen. D in VA

I realize that some people may actually prefer the sound, but I have to wonder if the current trend toward mahogany tops is driven in part by price and availability of suitable cuts of spruce and cedar.

    • @FlowforthInstruments

Possibly - but there are still more choices for spruce topped instruments.

Hi, did you adjust the action much after getting your guitar? I've just got one and i'm not incredibly experienced but I'm thinking of lowering the action at the bridge on mine, it'll be the first time I've done this on my guitar but I'm just wondering if you recommended the same thing. Thanks and great video!

What is the build quality like after a few months of owning? Another comment said the top had started to warp after a month and compromised the action after the bridge started lifting. Any problems with yours so far?

    • @FlowforthInstruments
      @FlowforthInstruments 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No problèmes with warping and lifting... slightly bad neck angle and not enough room in the saddle to adjust was the main problem.

Hi, nice review! I find myself veering between this & the Gretsch Jim Dandy, have you tried that one too? I assume the Gretsch is a bit higher quality, but the £ savings on this one do appeal, meaning more money in the bank for another guitar ha ha! Appreciate any thoughts you might have, ta!

Have both! I have a Jim Dandy as well as the Vintage, the Vintage has a slightly sweeter tone and the Gretsch is a little more clanky with a shorter scale. Keep the Vintage in open D and the Gretsch in open G and you're sorted!

Reason I ask is obviously Martin are a big name in the guitar world, plus it Made with this HPL .....I know nothing really about it, I guess it’s a very tough hard wearing material.
I’ve been looking like crazy online at these Carbon Fibre guitars, I kinda liked the look of a few .....then I saw the Crazy prices!

@@YanksandBritsProductions I set up and sold one lately and was impressed with it. It had a nice full sound for a little guitar. I recently found the dreadnought version of the same guitar (made in Mexico) and it's really nice too. I've been playing it a lot.
I don't know a lot about High Pressure laminates but it was very durable and sounded good. It's like a thin compressed paper laminate, much how they make the Richlite fretboards. If you can find one of these Martins I'd say go for it.

These seem really nice, I’m guessing that they are a little bit smaller that the Tanglewood Crossroads, recently got one of those but had to return it over a few issues with it.
I liked things about it but it was a little to big and No armrest, the edge kept digging in my arm.
I have looked at loads of guitars, I like the look and size Etc of these parlour guitars.
I have No experience of them at all, Never picked one up!
As you’ll know ya can’t get into any store right now to check anything out, so ya gotta go off reviews and videos Etc.
I like the look of the small Ibanez but I think you tune it differently and need to use a capo on it to use regular tuning EADGBE, I’ve only just got used to that so don’t wanna be changing and getting all confused.
If ya do that you’ll mess everything up and be learning ya tuning in DEAGBE or some crazy BS ....LOL
I had a Gibson Les Paul back in the mid 90s, probably the reason I put it down was because of 10 ton of BS out there.
It’s mind boggling the BS information that’s out there for people, obviously lots of it is Great and ya need it, but if you’re some young guy just picking up guitars for the first time it’s all gonna confuse that crap out of ya.
Lots of folk wrap wayyyyyyyyyyy to much of it all up in way to much BS and confusion and take the pleasure out of playing the instrument for people.
No wonder so many people stop learning when they buy an instrument.
And it’s the same with loads of things, Not just guitars!
People over complicate things, it’s just people I guess .....we do what we do .... lol
Maybe I should stick to something like the Fender Mini, it’s about £169 and yes it may have a few basic issues who knows but Fender have been around a long time, if ya produce BS then you don’t last long in business.
If ya look long and hard at any instrument you will find a few issues.
After all, they are all Mass produced items .....Not handmade specifically for each of us.
