Absolutely beyond BRAVO! Dr. Samantha, your playing makes hair grow on my bald head🤣 seriously, flawless technique with total passionate artistry….BRAVO!!
I'm so glad I found this piece. I've been researching about black composers like Florence price and Joseph bologne. I am a young black musician and this has inspired me a lot!
I feel so lucky and fortunate to have the beautiful gift of Florence Price- something that was missing from my life before Price's compositions fairly recently came into the light. As a born American citizen, it gives me such pride because she was American. There have been so many great, well-known composers from Europe, while (it seems) so few from America, but Price has finally broken into the limelight, and I'm grateful for this. I like they way Price kind of goes Rachmaninoff on us at the end, there. Also, pianists like Samantha make me SO jealous. I play keyboards myself, although, while decent, I never progressed to Ege's level. But the thing that makes me jealous is her ability to have memorized that whole piece. I can pick up (simpler) pieces by ear, but NO WAY anything like this!
This is so beautiful. I'm a nappy-haired Dominican guy who is just learning the piano in adulthood with the hopes of eventually composing, and though I've always loved classical music, I grew up with this vaguely internalized sense that it just wasn't music for people like me to play. And I love other parts of music of the African diaspora too, from jazz to rap, but I almost felt like classical was a guilty pleasure. So it's really inspiring learning about amazing under-represented composers like Price, and seeing you play her music so beautifully. Her music speaks to me in a way few others do, and I've been listening to classical music daily for most of my life.
Hear the early blues influence somewhere in there. Great story about Florence Price overcoming all the racial/social odds. We should all be inspired by what can be achieved if we aspire to great things.
Wow- this is incredible. Amazing composer and amazing performance. I’ve been a musician for 40 years and have only just discovered Florence Price recently, a shame on all those music history classes I took in school that she was never among those we studied.
I'm enjoying the book this year! A great way to reconnect with old favourites as well as discover new compositions and composers (such as Florence Price)!
I love your performances of the Fantasies negres! I haven't been able to find the sheet music for them anywhere though. I also really like your performances of Bonds' Spiritual Suite and Kapralova's Dubovna preludia (my mom is from Prague). I look forward to seeing what you play next! :)
Wonderful work and Performance, Ms. Samantha Ege. Congratulations. I recently discovered this extraordinary Composer, Florence Beatrice Price via TH-cam. I love her Romantic Spirit. She was truly an American Master. Bravo!!!! My warmest regards, Álvaro Guevara Vázquez, American Composer BMI. Neo- Romanticist.
Well played! Florence Price has a wonderful style, combining those folk-style themes with elaborate classical piano writing. I think her music would work really well alongside some of Dvorak's music - he was a Czech composer who had a great fondness for African-American folk themes.
This is an absolutely beautiful interpretation of this work. I was wondering where you purchased the music because I’m wanting to play it on my recital this semester. Thank you so much and again so breathtaking.
OK, I just want to make one more whimsical and maybe silly comment - but I am SUCH a huge fan of Florence Price, and I KNOW she had to struggle with racial bias so maybe this is why I can't seem to find a single photo of her *smiling* . I know that back in her day photos were a fairly new thing, and I guess it was the tradition then to strike serious poses for the camera (and even for painted portraits). But, I mean, she made even *Beethoven* seem like a cheerful guy, going by just what I see. I know- this is a stupid comment, I guess. I mean, this is all in the past, so WHY should it matter to me? I feel bad for poor Beethoven, too (but we all *know* his story was tragic) - how silly am I ??
Beautifully played and beautifully written, but Florence Price's musical language is stuck firmly in the world of negro spiritual. This applies to all the fantasies and the sonata in e minor. It is very genteel, very polite, very New England on a sunday. Ragtime is much more limited technically but much more articulate and more progressive. This must have sounded very anachronistic ecen when it was new.
Wonderful performance of a wonderful piece, thank you for sharing!

This is the 4 February recommended listening in "Year of Wonder" by Clemency Burton-Hill. Terrific piece and beautifully played here.
I'm enjoying the book this year! A great way to reconnect with old favourites as well as discover new compositions and composers (such as Florence Price)!

Beautiful piece played by a beautiful woman
Two incredible artists. Florence Price and Samantha Ege.
7:13 is epic
I was present at this concert and Samantha played very well. So very proud of her and this "OUTSTANDING" performance overall.
Thank you so much! That truly means a lot and I'm so glad you could be there! That's such a special memory for me.
Ma’am, I am so sorry you are so underrated. It’s absolutely beautiful, both you and your music.

Beautiful performance! You made this piece come alive in all its beauty and warmth. Brava 👏👏👏
Thank you so much!
Absolutely enchanting in every way! I really enjoyed the pedal work and the way you brought out the bass. Thank you for this.

Thanks for listening!
not bad. i love the way you handle those pedals
I came here after reading Thea Derks` blog post about your new CD. This is lovely music and you play it very well. Thank you.
Thank you!

Beautiful performance! I'm a music student and would love to work on this as a study, where can I find the music score?
Thank you! www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/black-women-composers-sheet-music/4557716
I am searching for the sheet music for this. What publishers have the music?
G. Schirmer
wonderful piano playing but for me the acoustics of the room make it sound kind of echoish and weak on my headphones-
if echois is the right word.
