You should listen to the live version of Dancing in the flames from the Sao Paulo concert. I think it sounds better live, the studio version is a bit too polished.
On the symbolism - the first verse represents after hours, second verse dawn fm, final verse and bridge is the new album. The themes for each is suffering/death, purgatory, and rebirth. Interesting how the lyrics and visuals correlate, especially with the car crash at the start of the second verse triggering the purgatory stage.
Another hit by The Weeknd. For the meaning of those who havent followed the trilogy since the very beginning After Hours > Dawn FM We had stayed at Is there someone else, last video of Dawn fm or he was still in purgatory; to remember his life in loop. And for my part, in this video, he continues to reminicente this life in loop. We will have to wait for the next video to see the direction that Hurry up tomorrow takes and the conclusion. The Weeknd will go to paradie or hell, or maybe a reincarnation or resurrection, or he cant escape the loop and stay trap forever... can't wait to see the rest of the story, through this last chapter. Hurry up tomorrow!
From a first listen, I really like the track. Personally I would like less vocal affects. I do like the synths and I like the beats and bassline is not too intense. It is strange for me, as it was familiar to me, not just because of the 80's Synth direction, it also has elements of Darkwave music, like Blutengel, Solar Fake, Ashbury Heights, but slower. Great reaction and I look forward to hearing Weeknd's new album when it is out.
Thank you for your comments! Yes it’ll be interesting to hear this track live and without the effects on. I wonder what the rest of the album will hold!
@@ninaschofield He sang this live in his Sao Paulo concert and it was so incredible. Better than the recorded version frankly and he really enjoyed singing it. He also has an acoustic version that he has not released yet
I LOVED DAWN FM…but I’m a bit underwhelmed by this comeback single! Feels a bit weak and not as dark/edgy as I would expect from Weeknd. Hoping other songs are better!

Not everything has to be dark and edgy
Bro literally just left the darkness , this is Jesus Abel lmao
The lyrics are pretty dark lol
This album is going to be better than Dawn FM
Bruh, blinding lights wasn't all dark either, put some weight on your brain and try to remember
The music is the sample from "thriller" from micheal jackson
You are thinking of another Abel song. Wake Me Up. This song has zero MJ associations
useless lol
