@@AlexWallsELT you can check the channel for yourself. I do have some videos in English, just a few. Anything better than a glass of wine after a lesson?
You mentioned that it took you 6 months to complete. The online course expects me to finish in two months. Not sure if I should take the module 3 this time round, however this is the best time to gather my primary research as I am currently teaching at a school in China for a few more months, so I guess I need to take advantage of this time
Hi Carlo. I did a 2 month course for Delta module 3, but it is difficult to complete all of the work in this time if you are working full time at the same time. Nevertheless, the course is still useful because it tells you what to include in each part. I suggest talking to the provider and asking what happens if you are not ready to submit at the end of the course. They should say that you can submit on the next submission date. If they won't help you to do that, find a different centre.
Thought I said it in the video, but 1. I wanted to get the course done and it seemed that the management route would take longer. 2. I wasn't convinced where I worked would help me very much with getting the data I needed. 3. The tutors at my Delta centre admitted they had little experience of the management specialisms.
Dear Alex, Great video. I am doing the Distance Delta Module 3 from March to June. I've already done Modules 1 and 2 and I guess overall I've done 300-400 hours of Delta reading in general and a good 75 hours aimed at module 3. My issue is that I work a lot (30 hours of class) and a lot of commuting too. I think I can still squeeze in 20 hours a week study over the 12 week course. Bearing in mind my pre-course reading, does that sound like I have a shot at meeting the June submission date?
Hi Christian, it sounds do-able. I assume you might have some public holidays in that time too that you might use if you fall behind, although it is important to take breaks too and reward yourself where your intrinsic motivation to complete the course may not be enough to sustain you. In any event, if you missed the June submission, it's not the hugest disaster. As long as you still complete it, there is no reason why you couldn't finish it in July and submit in December. With my own, I think I really just blitzed it in April and May. 30 hours a week of classes is a lot though. I hope you have some repeat groups in that.
Hello! Does this mean that I have to be teaching students at the same time I'm taking module 3? and if I'm not, how can I find a group of students to work with? Sorry but I actually thought I should take some time off from work until I finish module 3 and then go back to work.
Hi Nourhan. You need access to some students to do the needs analysis and diagnostic testing parts. Outside of that, you don't actually need to teach the course that you design. So as long as you can get access to some students who fit the description for your specialism, then no you don't actually need to teach them. I know people who did in fact just make up the data for their module 3 and they passed, but I wouldn't recommend that. What specialism are you thinking of choosing?
@@AlexWallsELT I was thinking of business English or EAP since a lot of people now are seeking them for their work and study, but my actual experience is in teaching general English to monolingual classes. I have worked with young learners and adults from elementary to upper intermediate levels, but I do prefer working with adult students.
So you need to find some business English students or some university students could do for EAP. Do your employer run these courses? Or you could reach out to a university that runs EAP courses - they might help you. Lots of possibilities, just think where you can find these people and ask.
Thanks Alex this is extremely helpful !!!
Strangely I didn't see your comment until now, but glad you found it helpful :)
