Very cool, BUT, I can't get over the later power tailgate models that came after this. I never knew these Cadillac Wagons existed without being a hearse. PIcturing Henry Gibson driving, with some Sinatra gangster scene playing out in the middle row. Deliciously hideous faux wood pattern on the knobs was one touch too far.

GM actually built about 600 of these things over a two-year period.
People wanted a Cadillac wagon, and it was ridiculously cheap and easy for the General to do.
I've seen precisely and exactly ONE of these in my life, done correctly.
Of course, it was a full-custom special-order rig, essentially marrying a Cadillac Series 60 Fleetwood sedan with the back-half of a Buick Electra 225 Station Wagon.
There was NO vinyl on it. It was so huge, so shiny and so formal, I was humbled in front of it. And it weas a 1971; for all intents and purposes the EXACT SAME RIG.

It's probable the metal work on this car was done by my father, Jim Stephenson, in Detroit. I know he was building Caddy Station wagons there in from mid `69 through `70, maybe `72. He worked at Barris Kustom before and after that and I went to work with him there in `73 and I recall meeting Heinz there. He was doing sunroofs on custom cars we built at George's shop. I had no idea he was the guy my father built the Caddy Station Wagons for though, but it has to be him.
