Folks, I own this very same truck ( 2016 Dodge Power Wagon Laramie ) That being said this is a very unique truck and very capable. Think of this truck like a long wheel base Jeep Rubicon that is a pickup truck with double the power. I sold my 2011 Jeep Rubicon after 5 years (2 Door) to purchase this very vehicle. I realized I needed a 4 door as well as a bed and nothing else production came close but this power wagon. Gas mileage on average is 12.5 to 13.0 MPG. Only slightly less than an Jeep IMO. MPG can go as low as 8MPG while off road and as high as 14MPG on highway and depending on driving habits. Being this truck has a a 4.10 Gear ration with a 6.4 Hemi it has plenty of power for most usage, that being said if you want a diesel don't buy a Power Wagon. Power Wagon is strictly offload mind set and not offered in a diesel and for good reason. Front sway bar disconnects as as you know has a 12K winch. If you need to haul a heavy trailer then I doubt you are going off road the way the power wagon has intended. Having owned a few Diesels 5.9 ISB ISBe its a heavy beast not needed for off road heavy articulated purpose in mind. I also have a 2007 FJ Cruiser and having owed a Jeep Rubicon I get it! So in closing this truck is awesome in so many ways which is why I traded in the Jeep and bought it. Power Wagon its not cheap especially for the Laramie package. Many folks are hung up on diesels for the wrong reasons, they have their place for sure and I'm a huge fan of them but not in a power wagon. Perhaps a eco diesel (maybe) does but not to be confused with a 6.7 mega road puller. Sticker price on this truck is 59K - 63K so if it were a diesel would be easy 75K. Serious off road then buy one otherwise its not needed. Rebel doesn't compare either IMO so be careful thinking that it does. Closing remarks .... Power Wagon is not a Ford Rapture pre-runner its closer to a Rubicon than anything else.
I traded my 2016 RAM 2500 Tradesman 6.4 4x4 for this Power Wagon (mine's a 2017 with the R-A-M grille), while I love my old RAM which is not so old the Power Wagon has always had a special place in my heart for as far as I remember seeing the 2005 model in a brochure. I've always wanted and I keep thinking of transplanting PW parts to my old 2500 which might end screwing the vehicle if not done right, and I keep seeing them old and new so I told myself might as well join the club and I'm a big fan of the HEMI V-8. Hopefully I can bring it to some rugged place and put the Power Wagon to its paces this year. BTW the truck gets serious attention especially in the Simon and Simon scheme and that intimidating grille.
Mine is a 2016 model with 11,000 miles now...some things i've learned...it is the most capable truck i've owned for towing and off road work but there are some downsides to that stuff, the bed height makes loading and unloading difficult without actually climbing up into it, forget reaching over the side to pick something up out of the bed because it's just too high...there is plenty of room in the bed but putting groceries or cases of water or other libations back there is a huge mistake because retrieving them may require a ladder or just climbing up into the bed and passing them to someone on the ground. The height of the truck and consequently the bed are a side effect of the trucks off road capability and heavy loading ability so it isn't a mistake by the engineers, it's just that this truck was designed for things other than ease of access. Other Ram trucks have a lower bed height and that may suit your needs more. The back up camera and sensor alarm are NOT there as luxury items...without them you will hit other cars, poles, fences, and kids on bikes while backing up...use the camera, pay attention to the sensor alarms!...it could well be a kid you're about to back over and you'd never see them, it gives me nightmares because we've got a hundred kids running around the neighborhood. Lastly, the truck is not cheap in any fashion...it cost a lot but it was worth every dollar...i suggest using an oil company gas credit card with reward points because keeping this monster topped off is going to cost you...a lot. It is a purpose driven truck, it excels at heavy duty hauling towing and off roading...it was NOT designed for efficiency, it is not a truck to replace your toyota, ranger, colorado for convenience and economy. It IS a big beautiful beast of a machine that will pull down a mountain without needing a break. The tires are big, specialized, and expensive...when it comes time to replace them do not go shopping for sales, bargains, or cheap replacements...the shoes on this truck are an integral part of the off roading equipment, perhaps even the number one most important part at that...suck it up sunshine, you bought a specialty rig, not a vanilla grocery getter, don't treat it like one and it will be fine, if it's too much for you then you got the wrong truck to begin with, sell it to someone prepared for the care and feeding of a specialty truck. Ford's Raptor, the Dodge Power Wagon, both the Clydesdales of the off road work horse stock truck world...like the Viper or Corvette they are specialized vehicles that accell in specific areas but that specialization costs them in others... Only 1 in 100 of you will ever use this truck to its full potential...to do what it was built to do...the other 99 guys or gals should have bought a Ram Rebel or a Ram 1500...so much cheaper, so much cheaper to operate and maintain...use the right tool for the job and if this is the tool you need then you're going to leave your wife for this Power Wagon...my single regret...i didn't wait for the 2017 model... A last note...I sold my ford raptor for this truck because this one was better for towing...the Raptor was a fantastic off roader and a fun drive...but it didn't have the towing chops the Power Wagon does and the handling on road with that heavy trailer because the Raptor was built for flying over the dunes...and god did that truck love to fly...but that was all it was great at.
Wow, hardcore speech man. I had a feeling that your metaphor was moving in the direction of workhorses, and then you confirmed it when you said clydesdale lmao. anyways, great speech and review. thank you for information and congratulations for owning such an awesome beast. Actual owner reviews like this help alot to a new truck shopper!
If these come over to OZ RHD I would buy one as it would be my last vehicle I would need to buy. It has all you need. The finish is amazing and looked after it would and should last a life time. I would only get a Factory built RHD as some of the converted one's over here a little to be desired. It's petrol, V8, Hemi, Lockers, sway bar disconnects, winch, BIG and a RAM. That's enough for me and my family. American gallon is 3.8 litres and the Australian gallon is 4.5 litres.

+?.Information .Retriever (G.I.R) Actually I was thinking about making a video of all my equipment since I get a lot of questions about what I use. I'll try to do that fairly soon.
Yes, I have the latest brochure. I'm just upset at the diminishing selection of ALL vehicles in general, regarding manual tranny. I'm currently considering a RAM diesel.
I am very upset as well. The only way to get a manual is to get a Ram diesel, which is an option for only an extra $9k over the gas 6.4 litre. :/ pitiful and a shame.
I prefer the shift knob. If something goes bad with the electrical system, at least the manuel shift knob still works if all of the mechanism is working right
+Paolo C (The Green P Landscaping) The automatic shifter location for the 4x4 shifter is now a rear and front locker for the axles. Sway bar disconnect is below this rotary knob. I also believe the transfer case in the Power Wagon is more robust, but I am not completely sure. There are a multitude of things underneath the chassis that is quite a bit of heavy duty offroad oriented items.
PT Barnum once said...'there's an ass fit for every chair'...your dads ass likely fit this truck really well, i'm pleased for him...my dad worked his ass off to support six kids and put us all through college without a single loan, it took decades of double shifts and two heart attacks...what my dad wants he gets, period...regardless of what his kids think of it...
+MikesCarInfo The information I'm reading online suggests this truck should not be used to plow snow because of the effects the heavy weight of the plow would have on the disconnecting sway bars. Do you know if there any truth to that? Thanks Mike.
+Aj Williams Like he said, the 2500 series doesnt require an EPA rating, and if you need to know the MPG on this truck, you shouldn't buy one. (11-16 MPG)
Do you homework people and stay away from the 6 cylinder RAM ecodiesel. They don't take the little added cost to key the cam gears, but instead just tighten them down with a bolt that will eventually allow the valve gear to slip and thus the motor blows.

Awesome video. I truly believe Chrysler has be best infotainment system on the market.
One of the best reviews of this truck...and a copy of the window sticker attached for review...great job!!
Maybe someday, I can buy this used pickup.
Now everyone will check for valuables under the floor can.
Thanks Alot jurk.
By far the BEST video I've watched about a power wagon. I now have made up my mind so I thank you. I'll soon be owning one of these beasts.
Thank you... Please share this video if you can :)

This is a big bad ass truck!
I wish you got in the back seat with the front seats back to show the leg room. I'm 6'3" and my kids are always squeezed behind me in my GMC.
+Alpha Zero or at minimum, a crew. Just not a quad.
Great review on a great truck.
Awesome full review. hard to get a long in depth review inside and out of the vehicle, especially in 4K!~

I wish Ram made a Laramie Longhorn Power Wagon trim level. I would love that!

Mike, can you order them stick shift. Thank You.
I don't think so. You can get a tradesman with a manual though.
Luis Guevara they stopped making the manual in 2010...so from 05-10 the manual transmission were stand option, auto was optional.
Great review, thank you! A ton of useful information!
Very detailed and informative video.
If I were younger I'd buy one power wagon similar to what you show here. First thing I'd do is put bigger tires on it.
i didnt know you could get the power wagon in the laramie trim
why does the Laramie and tradesman PW have higher payload than the regular PW.
What is the difference from a normal power wagon
I might have missed this, but was there any mention of mpg in the video or range per tank?
What would be a good truck for a camper (like the Northwood Artic Fox)?
zar qume Yeah, I heard from Northwood - a 1 ton dually for what I want.
Awesome review, thank you!! Would be appreciated very much if you could review 2017 Power Wagon too
Does this trim offer rear heated seats?
How many times you Tech Proximity key we learnded too many times Mikes
+Munshat Rahman Lol, I understand :) However 99% of my views are people looking at only one video.
Hello, Mike! Sorry to bother you again, but, I was wondering if you could do a video on your camera? I'd love to see a review of that by you! Thanks!

Subscribed! :) nice video 👍
Time for me to step up my Ram game lol.
Are all these modern dodge trucks push start?
+kramer727272 It's an option on most models.
So, has RAM done away with manual transmissions?
No they still have manual. Just looked at a nice dually and it turned out to be a manual transmission
Yes, I have the latest brochure. I'm just upset at the diminishing selection of ALL vehicles in general, regarding manual tranny. I'm currently considering a RAM diesel.
+Ray Charles Well Ram is the ONLY manufacturer to offer a manual transmission in a heavy duty truck anymore.
I am very upset as well. The only way to get a manual is to get a Ram diesel, which is an option for only an extra $9k over the gas 6.4 litre. :/ pitiful and a shame.
that is beautiful!
Mike would you choose this truck or a 3500 ram hemi
+Bryce Powell If I was pulling massive trailers I would choose the 3500 with a diesel.
+Bryce Powell i don't pull much and have to contend with snow, id go for the powerwagon
Hello Mike! I love your reviews, Ram in particular! I have a question, is the heated seats, like in the Laramie, an option on this truck?
+?.Information .Retriever (G.I.R) They appear to be standard equipment. I listed all the features in the description.
how come it doesn't come with the rotating shift nob?
+gthisgirliswild That is only for 8 speed ECT.
I prefer the shift knob. If something goes bad with the electrical system, at least the manuel shift knob still works if all of the mechanism is working right
why does it have the floor 4x4 shifter?
+Paolo C (The Green P Landscaping) The automatic shifter location for the 4x4 shifter is now a rear and front locker for the axles. Sway bar disconnect is below this rotary knob. I also believe the transfer case in the Power Wagon is more robust, but I am not completely sure.
There are a multitude of things underneath the chassis that is quite a bit of heavy duty offroad oriented items.
For off road it's preferred to have a manual shifter
So is the radio/tech system of this dodge still not compatible with Apple phones?
+2003evodave It is compatible with Apple and Android phones.
One of the best engines around, in one of the worst vehicles build-quality wise you could throw your money away on.
can u believe that my dad just sold his jeep srt 2016 to get this? i dont fucking believe it
+El Casero HD Wow
+Jack Daniel exactly
i can belive it

Can the front end of this truck accommodate a snow plow?
+Jeff S Yes
+MikesCarInfo The information I'm reading online suggests this truck should not be used to plow snow because of the effects the heavy weight of the plow would have on the disconnecting sway bars. Do you know if there any truth to that? Thanks Mike.
+Jeff S I don't know... I just know they make snow plows that will mount to it.
it actually states if you mount a plow to it, fca will void the warranty.
Hello, how much is the petrol tank size?
+ksasbr107 It has a 31 gallon tank. All features are listed in the description.
Whats the name power wagon refers to?
It refers to the OLD Dodge 4X4s.
+Alonso Candelaria Old Military Dodges
what's the mpg? why is it not on there?
That's a requirement for all vehicles people need to know that if they are thinking about buying one
+Aj Williams Mpg makes no differance if your buying a PW,
+Aj Williams Like he said, the 2500 series doesnt require an EPA rating, and if you need to know the MPG on this truck, you shouldn't buy one. (11-16 MPG)
Yea yr right that's a lot of gas money
Forget miles, it's smiles per gallon
