Ah the lantern. I remember grinding away some metal to make the mesh fit better. I used a Dremel. ( I do not know if that brand is used where you live ) Small angle grinder disks did the job.

      Hi Martin,
Yes I have a dremmel, great piece of kit, I've fixed the lantern, however have found another issue, did you have problems lining up the sides with the stern, I will do a video tonight to show the issue.

That gap is unbelievable. This would be one of the most expensive kits out but the parts don't reflect that. :O

Sorry, missed something somewhere, is your model a box kit?

      Hi Cliff,
Yes it's the sots kit by deagostini, however I have been customising it using Sovereign of the Sea 1637 book, trying to make it more realistic.

@@g-kip I purchased the part kit (subscription) and curiously my lantern was a perfect fit (I will send you a pic via sos), even the "roof" of your lantern doesn't look like it was molded properly. All the metal fittings in my kit appear to be very good. The subscription ended around 2016 or 2018. As far as I am aware the kit is modeled after the 1640 refit the ship went through a number of refits in its lifetime.

@@cliffwall6593 mine is the subscription packs also started 2021, I have come across a number of issues, quality wise it is bad, when completing the Hull planking the number of planks was less than the instructions showed by 2-3 planks, the keel was too short, also I've noticed last night that the side decorations do not line up with the stern decorations. The stern back plate the rounded one looks like it is too short.

Sorry I had to laugh! It was all going so well but I just knew that something would creep up on you and ruin the session. Yes it's fixable but a little tiresome when it happens with so many parts.
I am sure a day will come when everything simply falls into place as it should.........! Regards JH

      Hi Johnny,
It's a bit annoying, but easily fixed, just a bit frustrating, you comment did make me smile, cheered me up,.
