Aside from all the great clips pointed out in this video, she gets to do some insane stuff in the comics, like creating ice bridges to transport her through the skies and create ice sleds to get around the ground as well. I think it's reasonable to say that Katara has the most complete skillset we're shown on screen as an all around waterbender, being a master as both a healer and a water bender, and being extremely good at bloodbending, considering she used it for less than 2 minutes of screen time. She's also got a great character arc and lots of humanizing moments throughout the show. Katara is waterbending at its best.
Imagine if Zuko didn't figure out that the people who killed Katara's mom were the Southern Raiders. With the full moon at her back, Katara could've taken out the entire Fire Nation Fleet that night.
You forgot that katara did plantbend once in the comics. It was the search part 2 she plantbend at the northern water tribe siblings who were there looking for a spirit.katara briefly bend leaves off the ground
Katara is a prodigy just like Azula, she got rough childhood and had all the reasons to be batshit psychotic vengeful person just like Hama. We saw glimpse of how Katara can be crazy i.e. challenge Pakku, shooting ice shards at Jet, threaten to kill Zuko and bloodbend out of anger. While Azula has nobody beside her, Katara has Sokka. I believe that Sokka is the one that keeps her sane.
Katara is an amazing water bender. However the fight with poku happened before she was trained by a true master. Later during the fight with zuko she was a full fledged master and as the war progressed she grew up more powerful her ambition and competitiveness making her unable to do anything else. However katara was a master bender from the time she started training with poku before the siege of the north. Anything done before hand was done as still a novice to the art and she was only able to so by her ever constant villagence to improve at her abilities.
Katara is so underrated in terms of strength, she is also SUPER accurate and precise. She literally threw wood planks into the air as defense and when stopped the ice shards right as they were going to hit Yon Rha. That is crazy precision.

This was when I realized that Katara was actually OP, not much less stronger than either Toph or Zuko. But honestly she could have utilized bloodbending in such a way that you don't manipulate your enemies. Examples, like making your blood flow always constant even through rigorous activities can greatly increase her versatility in combat, bloodbending can also be used in such a way that in enhances the currently taught healing techniques and may even heal internal injuries. There's so much variation of bloodbending that it can be useful and not harmful, Katara just doesn't see it that way. Too bad she did not practice bloodbending enough to see the more useful sides of it besides puppetry
Very true. What made it even more impressive was that Katara was sleep-deprived at the time. It has been proven that sleep deprivation slows reaction speed.

Katara IS the most versatile bender since versatility is the very principle of waterbending so it's understandable. She'd understood it and applied it thoroughly. Which brings to mind Amon since the guy had limited himself to bloodbending which I get is like, the opposite of what Katara did by shying away.... well. It's also understandable why he'd think it was undefeatable if no one else is better at it than him. I'm on an avatar TH-cam videos spree right now.

3:45-3:48 I would like to point out that Katara was only 'defeated' there because Zuko sneak-attacked her while her back was turned. Zuko has never once actually outfought Katara.
Unless I’m missing something most of the times u said she was using the full moon to aid her ...she wasn’t especially since we’ve seen her do the exact type of bending moves without the aid of the full moon.also if I’m not mistaken on a full moon water benders have a choice if they want to draw on the full moon,but I think it’s safe to say most of the things she did just so happen to be on a full moon...not because she needed it.
