Haha, good first time experience. Comments from a Singaporean(die-hard durian fanatic). CJ, my kids too reacted like you did the first time, but not anymore, they love it now. See, durians can taste different from different parts of the fruit - ranging from deliciously succulent to flat out bleah! So if I picked out a bad tasting part I'll just put it aside and try from a different part of the fruit.
I'm curious, is that durian fresh from Davao or a frozen sample of unknown origin that you purchased from the supermarket?
