Korean songs and dramas were once very popular among Chinese Koreans maybe even later than the time they were first released.
@fatmamedemi Even though I suspect he is Chaoxianzu, it's best to not jump to the conclusion since Renjun himself hasn't confirmed that yet, and it's best for him to never confirm it as there's stigma around Chaoxianzu in South Korea and that'll harm his reputation. And yes, most Chinese Koreans do enjoy South Korean songs, dramas and variety shows.
I wouldn't spread information like this since Renjun never said so himself, just because he's from Jilin, the province where most of Chaoxian-zu population lives, it doesn't automatically make him one as well. Also, even if he is /hypothetically/ a Chaoxian-zu, how ethically Korean he is would still be up to debate because of how ethnic minority labelling works in China. Yes, Jilin is a special province in the sense that a lot of its citizens are more immersed in Korean culture and media, so it makes sense that he was exposed to a lot of the things that he did as a child. But learning Korean was still a conscious choice he made when he was younger (he studied it because he made a bet with his friends lmao), it didn't just come to him because he lived in Jilin.

@@lulcKathy For Non-ChaoXianZu Chinese fans, it is obvious to see that he is ChaoXianZu, and it's his interesting and special feature for us :) (If it's hard to understand for non-Chinese ppl, it's like as obvious as knowing Mark is Korean Canadian for local white Canadian fans.) I don't mean to let you spread, but the it's not the thing that shameful to speak out. The racists in Korea (more accurately maybe ChaoXianZuist?) created the stereotype of ChaoXianZu ppl, being a ChaoXianZu itself is totally not wrong nor controversial :)
It's so funny because I knew Renjun was introduced as Chinese when NCT Dream debuted but as time passed by, and I watched their Vlives and other shows, I'd randomly go, "Oh, he's not Korean?" 😅
