You are absolutely right ✅️ big super here in America 🇺🇸 you have a code enforcement officer in every community and if you don't clean and maintain the front and the back of your property he will give you a ticket to pay a huge fine to the township,and that will definitely keep people in compliance my friend indeed 😀
Samething in Canada. If your neighbor grass is too high or property dirty, you can file a complaint & the city will give them a time by which the grass need to be cut or get a fine
Big super you hit the nail on the head my friend, lack of maintenance is definitely destroying Jamaica 🇯🇲 and also the citizens of the must get involved in taking care of their own roads which will benefit every single person, the people have to get involved and stop sitting on the side line passively
🇯🇲BigSuper♥️, it's fulltime to address the sidewalk issue. It annoys me to no end to see the homeowners decorating the sidewalk .🙄🤚The key word is "sidewalk," it's for pedestrians/the public walkway, not a part of the homeowners property. It's for use of mothers and babies innah stroller, youths wanting to roller skate, play hopscotch, and older folks taking a stroll.
I guess Jamaica doesn't recognize the problem. The citizens are competing with cars for space to walk in the street because the sidewalks are being decorated by homeowners or negligence by the " Transportation and Works Department.". At election time - this is the issue fi mek noize bout😬🇯🇲
I hear this current Jamaica government explain to Jamaican people many times, that government is concentrating on the main roads first, then they will concentrate on the local roads. Successive Jamaican governments over the years, local and national government have allowed these local roads to deteriorates, they cannot be fixed overnight, it is not going to be done in one shot, budget will have to be allocated. These locals roads will be in new budgets in the coming years. Truly the main roads all over Jamaica, going to have to be fixed first, then, the local roads have to be taken care of, and the roads definitely have to maintained, in order to have longevity. I also agree with you Big_Super regarding going back to the 'old school.', 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'
The PM is right. It's going to be impossible to fix all the roads because 90%of the people in Jamaica don't pay taxes, so where is the money gonna come from to fix the road. If China fixes it , unu people in Jamaica go complain say government a give China everything. Dairy Road, in Discovery Bay, St Ann, is the only scheme where the people put money together & fix their own road & don't wait on the government to do it.

My parents were one of the first residents of the scheme in Alexandra Park Edwards Crescent and they with other returning residents fought hard to maintain their community to a high standard but as the elders got older they tried to pass the baton but the residents showed no interest in joining the tenants association. My parents and others got so frustrated with the lack of community spirit and involvement they too stopped going as it was the same people all the time financially contributing with no support and they are much older and not able to do as before. This is the problem we love to complain and do nothing to support those who want better for their communities. Its a damn shame as it was beautifully maintained years ago when the tenants association was united.

The people in the community can maintain the front of their yard and no depend on government because it not happening. The community needs homeowners' association that take care of their community
