    Best, clearest and most comprehensive video on how to instal rear rack when you don’t have the standard mounts/fittings on your mountain bike! Thank you, your advice is much appreciated! Katy

    The instructions that came with my bike rack were severely lacking in detail. This was just what I needed! I was done in less than 10 minutes! Thanks!

    Thank you so very much for this!! I bought a Bell Cargo rack for my son's bike and the instructions and diagram were as clear as mud. I tried going to the company's website with no luck and when I called their consumer help line the only thing they could do is send me a picture. You have saved one mechanically challenged mom from a huge amount of frustration. :)

    This was very well paced, helpful and point by point, step by step about what to do to get the best and safest results for a rear back rack installation. Thank you for letting the viewer know what to use if you don't have one thing or the other to mount your rear bike rack. Thank you so much for this very informative step by step tutorial. ***** (five stars)

    This really helped because I didn't realize (duh) that the bike already had mount adapters. This made it better for me to buy this type versus the seat only mounted item. These shown appear better for those buying saddlebag planniers

    I wish I could like this video more than once. It is surprisingly hard to find a straightforward explainer guide on this topic where there isn't an overwhelming amount of jargon, or the explainer did half the steps off camera.

    Thanks for this video. We got a 24" bike for my 10-yr-old at Walmart because he desperately needed a bike to get to school. Only two choices at our Walmart. Very heavy bike. :( We bought a "Bell Cargo Rack" at the same time. It had NO instructions whatsoever, and the parts and screws were a mystery to us. Thanks to your video, we're working it out, although it needs a seat post adapter which wasn't in the package for the Bell Cargo Rack.
    Moral of story, Walmart not good for bikes.

    very good clear vid. Only question is, what doyou do if the moveable rods you afix to the rack are too short to reach the holes on ther frame, even after bending them? I had to put my seat all the way forward to get it to fit, and the back of the seat is right up againt the rack... I deally I'd like the rack to go back a bit so the seat has a small gap behind it

    My upper brackets are only 1 5/8 " apart between the holes.
    The holes in the bike are 3' apart.
    Since the brackets are flat horizontally they don't bend sideways only up and down.
    Is there a premade adapter to accommodate this problem?

    • @velotiqueBetterWatchSaul

      If you are referring to the struts of the rack, they can, in most cases be spread wide enough to fit the dropouts on your frame.

    It didn't work for me. Any help greatly appreciated. I got the carrier with rack for my Merida big nine but the side mounts were too wide it took a great deal to pull the two sides of the rack and without hurting my fingers and with the help of my partner i somehow managed to screw to the bottom mounts. Then also somehow managed to fix the front as i have the mounts under the seat as well. However at least the rack didn't look to be straight and after ignoring this i landed into a bigger issue. If i put the carrier cant put the seat or if i put the seat can't put the carrier. My carrier is quite similar to Beto Deluxe one and if anyone have installed this type of carrier please share me the installation instruction.

    Thanks! I installed mine. I found out that on the botom side of the bike there was holes and I could screw in both sides. One side the screw goes a little too far towards the gears, so i have it kinda half installed on that side, and on the other tightly installed. For the connecting to the bike at the top, i just used twist ties. Sorted.

    • @velotiqueBetterWatchSaul
      @velotiqueBetterWatchSaul  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the screw is loose it will get looser. Use washers or nuts as spacers. Zip ties are a fine temporary fix. They will fail eventually. Use metal clamp bands or adapters.

    I have a different problem with mounting a Topeak Explorer Tubular Rack. I bought this rack and a basket (w/the MDX lock mount) for another bike, and want to use it for my new Citizen folding bike, which does not have the two holes next to the wheel bolt for securing the Topeak rack. My new bike came with its own rack, which is pretty useless without some sort of mounting system. The Topeak rack sits nicely on top of my bike's rack, but I don't like the idea of the Topeak rack being unsecured at the bottom. Don't want to use a beam rack, which holds much less weight, and is reported to crack under pressure.

    • @velotiqueBetterWatchSaul
      @velotiqueBetterWatchSaul  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need clamp adapters to go on the frame to attach the bottom of the rack.
