I have backed nunez and he's a liverpool player YNWA but let's say how it is, he's under performed based on our expectations, isn't clinical enough when given chances. He's had enough time I personally think to improve and unfortunately hasn't reached the level we expected. He's a good player, but is he the player for our system and the player who we can rely on, unfortunately no. I think as a squad player he's a great option off the bench for fresh legs on the wing or as a 9, but sadly he isn't performing to the level we need to compete at the highest level.

Liverpool history have lots of great strikers with so many characters and skill set. The best front 3 in my opinion was Mane, Firmino and Salah and they have the most balanced goals, assist and impact to the team. Unfortunately you can't create that type of style every season with all other different players. Nunez case was as same like Solanke and Minamino. They all are not suitable to our system and playing style and just a backup striker when we need to change the tactics and adapt with some situation.
salah is not as fast as before for a firmino type to lay off any more and diaz and gakpo are not as effective and selfless as mane. nunez still manage to get 17 goals and 12 assist last season so the issue is Slot lack of flexibility and it will show in the latter part of the season if not so already when only a konate injury and he csnt even make quansah work in the defesne and cause a draw in newcastle. Even endo suddenly becomes useless when he was the MOTM against Man city last season.
I think we need a 10 aswell as a striker it’s not negative it’s being pro active as fans aswell, it’s still early days we’re doing really well at the same time the weaknesses are obvious
If he stays healthy, Salah is almost a lock for 50 GCs in all comps. He’s on pace for 60 just in the prem. The Q is whether he’ll stay on pace for 60+ in the EPL and 75+ in all comps . Both would be new records. More records for the Salah book.
Agree with CaL & Matt! Slot standards are high. We have been patient with Nunez….his performances are way below par. His not helping us. Guys I’ll be so honest. I was never a fan of Nunez. I remember when we were linked with him I was praying we didn’t sign him. I remember watching his comps and I clicked off the video when I saw the way he tried step overs. It genuinely looked like he was wearing Timbs. I want him to do well and I will support him as long as he wears red, but I genuinely don’t think he’s technically good enough to lead the line for Liverpool football club.
We lack ability and concentration upfront, we aren’t creating clear chances, Szobo not more than a work horse, gakpo and Diaz not really having an impact either, Nunez suffers too much from negativity and gets stuck in his head, we struggle with low blocks and we definitely need to switch it up. As a Liverpool fan I accept the way Nunez is because he honestly is a very unlucky player. For example last season he hit the bar/post around 7 times. It would make his numbers look better if those went in and football is all about small margins. I would still have Nunez over the other strikers that cost a super high fee for example Solanke and Havertz. I still believe Nunez has a lot more to offer for Liverpool and will be a success at Liverpool.

Agree Nunez not scoring is a problem but the team is not playing for him to score. If you notice once the ball goes into the opposition box, everybody looks for Salah. Last night while watching this stream, off the back of a frustrating night for Nunez I was fuming with him and said despite being an avid Nunez supporter I was running out of patience with him. I have just watched the Deep Dive on Redmen TV and have come to my senses and reverted to my previous stance to back Nunez. I think Slot's non-chaotic style of play does not suit Nunez, hence why he is getting fewer chances / shots off or doing some madness creating an assist or the assist for the assist. The main thing I took away from the Deep Dive show was that Girona did sit incredibly deep which simply does not suit Nunez. Let's be fair the front three and Gapko who came on did not have a sniff. The key takeaway is therefore I trust Slot to manage Jota's minutes carefully. Play Jota where we are up against a low block. Games where we will have more space Nunez should be an option with his athleticism and running in behind capabilities. Against a low block we need a technical fox in a box like Jota (and Chiesa when he is finally available because he just needs an inch to get a shot away). Horses for courses. Obviously he must improve his finishing and use more intelligence but let's not do the fickle, reactionary bull; he isn't so bad that he warrants criticism like Hojlund or Zirkzee of some other shower of S.

Guys I’ll be so honest. I was never a fan of Nunez. I remember when we were linked with him I was praying we didn’t sign him. I remember watching his comps and I clicked off the video when I saw the way he tried step overs. It genuinely looked like he was wearing Timbs. I want him to do well and I will support him as long as he wears red, but I genuinely don’t think he’s technically good enough to lead the line for Liverpool football club.
We lack ability and concentration upfront, we aren’t creating clear chances, Szobo not more than a work horse, gakpo and Diaz not really having an impact either, Nunez suffers too much from negativity and gets stuck in his head, we struggle with low blocks and we definitely need to switch it up. We are dependent on 20minutes of Salah class

As a Liverpool fan I accept the way Nunez is because he honestly is a very unlucky player. For example last season he hit the bar/post around 7 times. It would make his numbers look better if those went in and football is all about small margins. I would still have Nunez over the other strikers that cost a super high fee for example Solanke and Havertz. I still believe Nunez has a lot more to offer for Liverpool and will be a success at Liverpool.

Agree Nunez not scoring is a problem but the team is not playing for him to score. If you notice once the ball goes into the opposition box, everybody looks for Salah. They not playing to him as much as they should. Even Nunez looks for Salah once in the box. Try playing to Nunez strengths before writing him off.
Klopp literally made him the focal point last season and he couldn't put chances away, Salah should've broken the assist record if it wasn't for Nuñez, they stopped playing to him because they know he's not clinical

Last night while watching this stream, off the back of a frustrating night for Nunez I was fuming with him and said despite being an avid Nunez supporter I was running out of patience with him. I have just watched the Deep Dive on Redmen TV and have come to my senses and reverted to my previous stance to back Nunez. I think Slot's non-chaotic style of play does not suit Nunez, hence why he is getting fewer chances / shots off or doing some madness creating an assist or the assist for the assist. The main thing I took away from the Deep Dive show was that Girona did sit incredibly deep which simply does not suit Nunez. Let's be fair the front three and Gapko who came on did not have a sniff. The key takeaway is therefore I trust Slot to manage Jota's minutes carefully. Play Jota where we are up against a low block. Games where we will have more space Nunez should be an option with his athleticism and running in behind capabilities. Against a low block we need a technical fox in a box like Jota (and Chiesa when he is finally available because he just needs an inch to get a shot away). Horses for courses. Obviously he must improve his finishing and use more intelligence but let's not do the fickle, reactionary bull; he isn't so bad that he warrants criticism like Hojlund or Zirkzee of some other shower of S.
