I battled anxiety and PTSD. The moment I repented and asked for forgiveness Jesus instantly took it all away. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner. ☦️
I battled with anxiety during my late wife’s last years, to the point where I was hospitalized with what appeared to be a heart attack. It wasn’t. My ER nurse was an Orthodox Christian, he counseled me on how to slow down through prayer, breathing and focus . It worked. It didn’t happen over night but through those practices I found where I was lacking. It aided me in filling those voids, thus allowing me to heal. I have not had a bout in over 3 years. Great video Father Spyridon
jpage9999- it has been suggested to say/think the first half of the Jesus Prayer while inhaling, the second half while exhaling. "Lord Jesus Christ....have mercy on me a sinner".
Anxiety is reflective of an ungodly attachment to something temporal: People, our ideas of them, objects and things. Depend not on anything in this world - or you risk damaging God's image within you. Our eternal needs are paramount and they are only met in God. The farther away we take our minds from Earth, the closer our souls are brought to Heaven.
Sometimes anxiety is based in generational trauma, as in my family. My childhood was filled with anxiety and panic attacks due to my mother's constant worry/depression and my father's anxiety/fits of anger. I used to blame them for my temperament but I realize that they were never given the tools from their own parents...who were abusive and mentally ill as well. I've sometimes wondered is this some type of generational curse upon our family bc of some past wrongs? At the same time, it seems unfathomable that a child should be punished for the sins of their parents. Nevertheless, anxiety still hampers my life in my late thirties. :(
Thank you, Father, for this wonderful message. I grew up in a non-denominational church here in the United States and have recently been drawn to Orthodox theology. Your messages have been great wisdom and guidance.
What a coincidence, I guess I'm meant to see this. I just finished praying and I had the worst panic attack while praying, thought I was having a heart attack, I freaked my family out. Whoever is suffering the samething, take 30 deep breaths and exhales while doing the Jesus Prayer. Let's free our mind from thoughts, cause I know my brain is always anxious 24/7 but I'm trying to shut it off and connect with God more. Pray for me, Anexity/Panic attacks sucks, its the outcome of stress and over thinking. I wish I can repent maybe it would help a lot.
I am having the same experience, I thought it was congestive heart failure based on the physical symptoms. I stayed awake 3 days despite being exhausted because I was jolted awake in panic every time I almost found sleep. It was very intense for 1 month and I spent the time clearing out sin and repenting, and the following month I discovered orthodox or as I call it "clinical" Christianity. There are real techniques for increasing spiritual strength and moving closer to God. It's the part that was missing from my Protestant upbringing.
I once had a dream in which I saw Jesus from a distance sitting in the inner court of a temple surrounding by what I think were saints. As I was about to walk away, I heard His voice saying "Guard your eyes". Such a simple yet crucial piece of advice.
I am suffering from crippling anxiety and PTSD. I see now how dependent I am of the things of this world. I just don’t know how to get out of the pain inside of me..

I’m going through the SAME thing. Debilitating anxiety. God puts these struggles before us to make us realize we need to wake up. As bad as I feel, I will never give up.
When I turn my will over to the care of God I’m OK when I take it back anxiety comes in and shows me I’m trying to run the show again thank you father as always you have a beautiful message of love and hope from the father God
St.Francis de Salles says this about anxiety, " With the single exception of sin, anxiety is the greatest evil that can happen to a soul. Just as sedition and internal disorder bring turmoil to a state and make it helpless to resist the foreign invader. So also if our heart is inwardly troubled and disquieted it loose both the strength necessary to retain the virtues it acquired and the means to resist the temptations of the enemy. And Satan then uses his utmost efforts to fit in those troubled waters.
Anxiety is not a sin, its a symptom and sickness. Just like headache is not a sin. Anxiety can be caused by so many things and there is also different level and type of anxiety. I got anxiety from anti-psychotics and by doctors who messed up with my brain chemistry. Anxiety is not always spiritual, it can be just that your brain chemistry is not working.
How extraordinary it is to hear these words which reassure us of our Father's limitless love for us! This struggle and fight for our minds and soul is so worth it! Lord help us and have mercy on all of us. Thank you father 🙏

Thank you, Father. I was baptized orthodox as a baby. I rejected God for a very long time. I became athiest. I recently came back to the orthodox faith. I’ve dropped many very sinful passions. I now go to liturgy, receive holy confession and communion. However, I’m BOMBARDED with unwanted thoughts daily and it brings me unbearable anxiety. Does God allow me to be able to reject these unwanted thoughts so I can gain inner peace in this spiritual warfare?

I recomand for everyone to study the chemistry of the brain as well. A lot of anxiety problems are related to a lack of vitamins and aminoacids essential to our brain function
Father, I have a question. I have an OCD related issue known as Scrupulosity. My particular problem is that I despair over my salvation every time I think of it, I see I'm not good enough and that I'm a sinner. I cannot find peace because I cannot find assurance that God will save me, all I see are my works, which are few, and this is causing me anxiety. What can I do? How can I find peace with God? How can I cast this anxiety away from me?
It’s good you found this video Len, because it’s speaking to your heart and the anxiety. If you are an Orthodox Christian, read the prayers of the church in your prayer book so you can learn and absorb the mind of church when you pray. If you are not Orthodox, then pray our Lord to enlighten and guide you (He doesn’t need details, He knows us better than we know ourselves) and put your trust in His Divine Providence. The enemy is crafty so you must ignore those negative thoughts. Our Lord loves us and came into the world for the salvation of our souls. Turn to him with your loving heart, with tears of humility to help you. Despair is from the enemy. Joy and hope are from our loving God/Man Jesus Christ. He’s waiting to hear from you. We will pray for you and please listen to Father’s God inspired video every day. Don’t analyze it with your brain, open your heart to learn from it. God Bless you.
It's good that you see yourself as not good enough and as a sinner (this way you won't become proud, which is disgusting in the eyes of God). Your problem is that you think too much about yourself and your salvation. Don't be preoccupied with yourself and your works. No one will be saved by the merit of their works. Eternal life is a gift. We are all debtors. Our debt to God is unpayable. So what can you do in order to find relief from anxiety and become able to receive the gift of eternal life? Repent of dead works, confess your sins, take communion, deny yourself, lose your life for the sake of Jesus Christ and the Gospel. Don't chase the wind (I mean worldly and temporary things like good food, quality apparel, luxury holidays, career, money, power, women, phisical strength and beauty, entertainment etc.) Love God with all your mind, heart and strenght and strive to love every human being as well, which means forget about yourself (and your anxiety will be gone). I know it's easier to be said than done, but the reward is eternal life. May Lord Jesus Christ bless you!
Hey man, I have OCD too and can relate. The biggest, and most difficult thing is simply accepting the anxiety. Act on your values and don't let anxiety stop you from doing what you must.
The question does that verse in Matthew point to having anxiety for our needs, what if we have anxiety for our wants for example a math exam or matters that does not point to us like family, does that verse point to that or only personal needs?
Really like what your saying , but not sure what your were saying about the holy fathers , do u mean worship towards them , as our worship should be for Christ alone.
