@adamiddins7528 Codswallop. We left the EU. The Tory govt didn't want to fund the London public transport system. Just like they dont want to fund anythinf public. Grant Shapps forced Khan to expand ULEZ as part of TfL funding. Read the TfL funding agreement.
Thanks again for a great clip. Nice to see you got me in it though I'm afraid if ulez comes to Ace then my Black R33 will not be able to attend after August 😢
I like a fast car as much as anyone, and used to be a regular at the Ace on my various bikes, but the driving like you see in your video is playing directly into the hands of those who want to shut it down. Would have been good if you could have interviewed Mark to get his thoughts on the future of his baby. If the ULEZ extension comes in, I won't be going there any more, sadly.
It's not just ULEZ, it's bad behaviour leaving venues, showing off for the cameras, that's causing problems which is why Ace Cafe has had to close Friday evenings...
They certainly was Marc, I started going up there in my bmw e38 728i some 20 years ago .as you said the ford nights were the best nights ,this ulez bollocks is going to kill londoners and its businesses. Khan is all about destroying London, the bloke is out of control and needs removing from office.
The simplest argument against ULEZ is to look at it for what it is, a punishment for being poor. If someone still drives a T reg focus or 54 reg astra diesel, chances are they have that sub £1000 value of car because that's all they can afford. But someone who owns a 7 year old Range Rover who bought it new, they'll have plenty of money to go and buy another car. If you can afford a modern, less polluting car, good news! You are allowed to drive in London. What, you can't afford to buy a new low emission car? This old Y reg mondeo is all you can afford? Well, you better cough up sunshine and pay for the privilege of being poor, or throw the car away and do without. It's truly scandalous, and the sort of people who think up these ideas have no idea how the real world works.
It's ridiculous, my cobras donor car 75jag would be compliant, it's rv8 engine would be compliant in the original sd1.. but as it's a kit built in 2002 it's not complaint.. just madness.
Check your cobra out on the ulez checker. Oddly the daily 3.0td 5 series isn't ulez compliant however my 8.2lt cobra is 😂, I know which one I'll be driving in London next time.
@@roryrobinson7136 its most likely a kit car, and possibly built within recent years. (Do correct me if im wrong though). But yeah ULEZ doesnt always make sense. My Impreza is ULEZ exempt, and defo isn't very environmentally friendly.
Great video, Adam. I love the Ace Cafe, and had forgotten the ULEZ will hit this wonderful, historic place. Do need, to pick up on a few things; 1. The aforementioned 2003 Ford Focus probably WILL comply. If it's petrol. It's down to the NOx emissions. If it's below 0.08 g/km it should be accepted. (I have a 2001 Saab 93 that complies). 2. The ULEZ affects bikes, too. Many of the bikes (that are older than 2007 but not 40 years old or more) will be hit. And the charge is the same as it is for cars; £12.50 3. The camera's monitoring ULEZ aren't ANPR's (as far as I know). They purely there to pick up on your vehicle, so as to charge you.
I'm not sure if you know this but ANPR stands for 'automatic number plate recognition'. The ULEZ cameras utilise ANPR to read your number plate and upload it to a database so they know who to charge. It's the same as ANPR cameras on toll roads or the M1, etc detecting whether the car is on the road and is taxed, MOT'd, insured, etc!
2013 was not the peak of car meets at ace cafe that was the 90s and not the max power shows it was the fast ford shows they used to shut down everything that was also about 10 road layouts ago😂
I think the injustice sits with those who can't afford to get rid of their 2003 Ford Focus. Those with Teslas and the sort clearly can already afford the 'luxury of having an EV.
The problem isn't the ULEZ, the vast majority of vehicles that attend meets at The Ace are either young enough to be ULEZ compliant or old enough (over 40 years) to be exempt, so much as people's ignorance of the ULEZ. Only last week I was standing next to a middle aged sportsbiker only too happy to tell everyone this would be his last visit because of Kahn's ULEZ, while standing next to his 2021 Kawasaki!!
Got many things to say about this ulez expansion but this ain’t the place, short version, no extension of the zone. What will also kill off ace cafe is the new builds go up around the cafe. Just over the back is a whole new housing area. As soon as they are all built finished and people living in them they will start to complain and inevitably it will create more problems and possibly result in the cafe being closed. It would be very sad as the place has so much history
I remember when JAPNIGHT GOT CLOSED down .THis single Decker Bus was driving past Ace Cafe and these guys started shaking the Bus while people were in it and almost turned it over .Then the Law came down and closed off the road and trapped everyone and that was the end of Japnight. I really feel sorry for the people in the bus some were old woman just trying to get home after a hard days work and they were terrified
horrified looks of the passengers I feel sorry for them truly is Kathy had no choice, but to close the event after the police got involved rightly so.every car that was parked by ace cafe was trapped and not sure what happened to Those people and if they got in trouble
Wow that Tommy R34 definitely star the show ulez if it goes ahead we’ll probably end the Ace café I hope not it’s such a great place and Adam has brought us some amazing content from outside £.12.50 a day doesn’t seem a lot but it works out at 62.50 A week 250 a month and 3K a year Just to drive your vehicle into the city WTF now that is a lot
Haven't been to that place in years, it got very intense with desperate begs doing drive bys as if their fathers build the cars. Literally killed it for the most of us.
I'm an old biker and live just inside the next ULEZ expansion. With the 20mph now everywhere and cameras spreading like weeds, I've got rid of my 2 fastest bikes. You can't use them. Also, if you own an old, small capacity motorcycle that still does mega mileage, you pay £12.50, the same as my old 3L deisel.
Forget it pal. Unless you vote Labour out, its ulez all over the country. You won't be able to afford to work. The idea is sell your car , lose your job, wife and kids leave, you lose the house. So think long and hard. Best bet vote Reform, they hate ulez. And no one likes the tories either.
A good vid, Sadist Khan doesn’t seem to understand the amount of misery and hardship he is causing to the majority of Londoners. He is not going to solve very much with the ULEZ charge because it is going to affect loads of businesses and drive them out of pocket, maybe just to plug a gap in his financial dire straits with TfL overspend. He’s gonna find out very soon that his career may as well be better off in North Korea.
I used to live round the corner, was a regular for most of the 00s . Max power, old school fords and classics night we're all pretty special as well as the bike meets. Can understand why they changed they road layout, was very sketchy most nights with people driving iding like dickheads. I'm sure it'll survive, the Ace has stuck around through worse, and a lot of bikes can be certified compliant even if not euro3
Great work as ever. Pls pls pls Adam do some more content for the car community on the subject of ULEZ extension. It is truly sad what might happen with car meets and the sort. There are plenty of anti-unlez facebook that enthusiast should consider joining.
This reminds me of our old Speedway venues and drag racing events. Oh the noise is unbearable and must be shut - locals complained! Shame I can't print what I'd like to say...
The Ace is a historic building, attending is or it should be seen as paying homage to the iconic architecture. Decades of fashion plus bikes cars vans have met at the Ace.
It’s going through the courts right now as to the legality of the ULEZ. If it is removed then all the cameras will likely just be used for pay per mile where every vehicle gets charged. Which would be an excellent system if they removed the road fund licence and the heavy taxation on fuel. Otherwise we’re being taxed three times for the same thing.
The owner of the Ace Cafe knows it's days ate numbered. I was at a bike show last weekend (1/7/23) and they said it would be their last show because of ULEZ. Who wants to pay £12.50 before they even get to a venue
Used to ride there from the Polish War Memorial at Northolt Airport to the Ace Cafe, change ride to race. in the late 50's. The North Circular just went straight passed and under the railway bridge, no mini roundabouts or any other silly modern things.
one thing to note. if your car is 40 years old. its ulez exempt. i have a 06 m3 which is fine but my 91 golf will be 7 years short of 40. so ill have to pay it. love ace cafe. chilli chips and cheese then pull some big wheelies for the crowds. what a time it was back in early 2000's, was sketchy at times tho lol
I remember the café all bordered up and the road just outside was 2 lanes of the 4 lane A406. It was always heavy with traffic even back then. The bridge arch's where a tight spot. Then the new road was built widened and moved right over. The Ace stood alone and there was space. The city has grown and now look at it. New flats as someone else has pointed out here are the nail in the coffin. When it fist reopened is attracted a lot of old vintage bikes. Well they can't go............. it will just be a cafe /coffee shop for the locals............Tesco express. Shame, I hope the building has a preservation order on it. It should have because of the history.
Unfortunately the ulez is coming in August there's a lot of car events that will stop because of it, the famous London to Brighton mini meet is one of the big ones
As a Motorcycle rider, it was one of the "go-to" destinations, a 240-mile round trip for a coffee, a burger and to nearly be taken out by some twonk doing doughnuts and thinking he was Barry Kenevil or Evil Sheen, now as a car driver I would have to pay £8 to get out of Birmingham, £12.50 to get into London, then probably another £8 to get back into Birmingham, I think I can give it a miss to be honest.
Been going ace cafe since 1984 since I got my license bike and cars this ulez has cost me 2 vehicles 😢 big protest tomorrow 5th trafalgar square 11am till 4pm we need to fight this bull 💩 to keep events and places like the ace cafe alive...
When the fine comes through say you dispute the charge and want a county court jury trail. The judge will have to dismiss as this is not lawful plus the fact that enough do it the system will choke up. Would it be that this could apply to the incumbent foreigner!!😢
Most cars beyond 2006 should mostly be ulez compliment. So things like Nissan GTRs, EVO X, Toyota Supra mk5, Honda civic Type r should all be fine as an example. Unfortunately anything pre-dating 2006 will need to pay the charge.
I can't see ULEZ not happening, but not for the reasons you may think. At this time electric vehicles are not generating revenue for the government and this needs to be addressed, at this time electric vehicles are not subjected to Vehicle Excise Duty (VED - Vehicle Tax) or high taxation on fuel and they won't be able to do that without also increasing the costs of heating a home. The solution will be a road charging network (pay by the mile motoring) which is currently being investigated by an all party parliamentary committee (search Google for road pricing parliament) - In order for this to be possible a camera network is needed and this is where ULEZ comes in. Eventually they will switch to road pricing (pay per mile) and the weight of the vehicle, type of road you drive on and the time of day will be considered. Ulez is the beginning, not the end
The pay per mile consultation on the mayor assembly was bollocks but filled it out. As you've said the ulez cameras are really for pay per mile but i can't see it working because it would have to be nation wide you can't just have London as pay per mile and nothing outside the m25 ring. Pay per mile would have to be debated in parliment
We all know why they did away with the roundabout…… Wish we had a place like that….we just have a giant 24/7 car wash that we meet at…still cool though
Try for a certificate of comformity if it meets the nox/hc submit to dvla or tfl but depends whos in the office at tfl. There is also the court cases this month to go through if they win i don't know. If they don't win then pay per mile is the next thing as thats these cameras are really for.
I have a video somewhere of an old Volvo doing donuts on the old roundabout and pulling off the wrong direction only to stop behind a police van where the uniformed gentlemen promptly escorted him out of his car into the back of the van. There's a reason why everyone pulled off towards the arches lol
As a fan of another mode of transport, the Ace is near one of the wonders of the North Circ - the aqueduct that carries the canal OVER one of the busiest roads in the UK. And no, no narrowboat burning rotting pallets and coal to keep warm is ULEZ compliant

@adamiddins7528 Codswallop. We left the EU. The Tory govt didn't want to fund the London public transport system. Just like they dont want to fund anythinf public. Grant Shapps forced Khan to expand ULEZ as part of TfL funding. Read the TfL funding agreement.
Early 00’s Max Power era Ace was epic
Thanks again for a great clip. Nice to see you got me in it though I'm afraid if ulez comes to Ace then my Black R33 will not be able to attend after August 😢
I like a fast car as much as anyone, and used to be a regular at the Ace on my various bikes, but the driving like you see in your video is playing directly into the hands of those who want to shut it down. Would have been good if you could have interviewed Mark to get his thoughts on the future of his baby. If the ULEZ extension comes in, I won't be going there any more, sadly.
It's not just ULEZ, it's bad behaviour leaving venues, showing off for the cameras, that's causing problems which is why Ace Cafe has had to close Friday evenings...
early 2000s ford meets were next level crazy.loved them
They certainly was Marc, I started going up there in my bmw e38 728i some 20 years ago .as you said the ford nights were the best nights ,this ulez bollocks is going to kill londoners and its businesses. Khan is all about destroying London, the bloke is out of control and needs removing from office.
Cosworths and rs turbos everywhere
Can you explain more as I want to know what they were like please ?
Yeah ford night was insane. It was even the best night for jap stuff. Everyone seems to go
@@andybrooks7908there were about 4 sapphire cosworths who used to hoon it on the roundabout every single week haha
Historic cars are exempt from ULEZ
@@roryrobinson7136 its most likely a kit car, and possibly built within recent years. (Do correct me if im wrong though).
But yeah ULEZ doesnt always make sense. My Impreza is ULEZ exempt, and defo isn't very environmentally friendly.
You make my day whenever you upload my dude
true story
Great video, Adam. I love the Ace Cafe, and had forgotten the ULEZ will hit this wonderful, historic place. Do need, to pick up on a few things;
And the charge is the same as it is for cars; £12.50
@@rorypollitt322 yeah same tech different application
2013 was not the peak of car meets at ace cafe that was the 90s and not the max power shows it was the fast ford shows they used to shut down everything that was also about 10 road layouts ago😂
Its going the same way as Chelsea bridge, when the flats are occupied they will not tolerate the noise from the cars/bikes.Did love the ace
The California Look VW nights early 2000s were insane, burnouts and crowds.
A special time
Wellcome to the “ No fun allowed “ era !
Damn I remember the bus incident I think. Is that really why it got stopped? Not the mental roundabout?
horrified looks of the passengers I feel sorry for them truly is Kathy had no choice, but to close the event after the police got involved rightly so.every car that was parked by ace cafe was trapped and not sure what happened to Those people and if they got in trouble
Go research what happens if you live in ulez zone. Can only leave so many times a YEAR with your own car.
Interesting video. They will always be watching us and yet car culture will never change. We always find a way 🕺
Loved going to AceCafe...just before going to the cinema up in ParkRoyal it was the thing if your a carNUT you had to do.
Damn, the 300zx is still one of the most unique looking cars on the road, I wish they were more affordable
Great video Adam, very informative thanks 👍
Haven't been to that place in years, it got very intense with desperate begs doing drive bys as if their fathers build the cars. Literally killed it for the most of us.
I'm an old biker and live just inside the next ULEZ expansion. With the 20mph now everywhere and cameras spreading like weeds, I've got rid of my 2 fastest bikes. You can't use them. Also, if you own an old, small capacity motorcycle that still does mega mileage, you pay £12.50, the same as my old 3L deisel.
Yes you’re right In everything you’ve said. Maybe a new venue just outside the M25 would be possible?
Maybe an option would if they do extend the area, certain days/times/evening where can drive in/out? so events like this can carry on.
12:44 Sorry Adam, NOT ULEZ compliant! Just like my car. When I bought my house it was in Surrey. Then my borough got dragged into London 🥲
yeh i know it's not, unsure why I said it was
Ace café has made some great content👌🔥
I used to live round the corner, was a regular for most of the 00s . Max power, old school fords and classics night we're all pretty special as well as the bike meets. Can understand why they changed they road layout, was very sketchy most nights with people driving
iding like dickheads.
I'm surprised they haven't put up one of those 'noise cameras' on the road outside
This reminds me of our old Speedway venues and drag racing events. Oh the noise is unbearable and must be shut - locals complained! Shame I can't print what I'd like to say...
The Ace is a historic building, attending is or it should be seen as paying homage to the iconic architecture. Decades of fashion plus bikes cars vans have met at the Ace.
what a great leader he is, he wants to drive open, public gatherings into the underground which is not at all a massive recipe for disaster.
Heres a list of people who dont like adam:
. Thats it
Long list man😂😂
Used to ride there from the Polish War Memorial at Northolt Airport to the Ace Cafe, change ride to race. in the late 50's.
Adam: "oh no I can't find the hole " 😂😂😂
Still annoyed I missed out on this! ..sadly tis' what happens when you're in between jobs 🙃
It should have because of the history.
it looks to be Art Deco
It'll be a mosque in a few years
“Diversity is our strength” remember, while us brits get shafted 🤡
Colonisation karma 🤡🤡 🤡. Maybe next time don't try to steal other peoples countries?
Fight ULEZ, LTNs and 15 minute cities etc... The cameras are the key.
Classic cars over 40 years old will be exempt from ulez. So hopefully ace cafe can become more of a classic car meet place instead
We live in hope
Brilliant. Keep it up guys
Man, I wish car meets in the Netherlands where as big as them in the UK.
Was er ook, tijdens helloween meeting in hoofddorp mes en vork, was echt groot
Unfortunately the ulez is coming in August there's a lot of car events that will stop because of it, the famous London to Brighton mini meet is one of the big ones
kick the mayor out, is the best soloution.
I remember this place where everyone was messing about and doing donut and drift.
United we stand, divided we are nothing.......protest, tenacity and direct action is what is needed!
Yes, always get a tvr in there 😎
It will probably be called ace mosque if he has anything to do with it . They always have to spoil our fun.
ignorant clown comment ngl
mildly [very] racist but ok
Ha! You said Zed X, I immediately started looking for a Kawasaki.
We had one of those in Orlando Florida but it shut down due to bad service sick meets they had
Oh you forgot Barbie's pink Celica‼️🌸 ACE Café should have listed status. We have CAZ in Bristol.
Should be made a landmark like old buildings and the roads, and when there’s a meet/event traveler’s can use other roads.
Most cars beyond 2006 should mostly be ulez compliment. So things like Nissan GTRs, EVO X, Toyota Supra mk5, Honda civic Type r should all be fine as an example.
Unfortunately anything pre-dating 2006 will need to pay the charge.
surprisingly my 03 Impreza is ULEZ exempt
So everything the warning sign said not to do, was done! 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤙
Everyone should cover their plates. Everyone.
It won't stop me driving my Mustang or Jeep in ULEZ, just get a post 2005 or a pre 1983🥳
We all know why they did away with the roundabout……
Wish we had a place like that….we just have a giant 24/7 car wash that we meet at…still cool though
Try for a certificate of comformity if it meets the nox/hc submit to dvla or tfl but depends whos in the office at tfl. There is also the court cases this month to go through if they win i don't know. If they don't win then pay per mile is the next thing as thats these cameras are really for.
11:43
sounds like Alan Wicker!
Awesome video thank you :)
Great to see all those responsible drivers conforming to Brent Council's orders so that Ace Cafe doesn't get a bad reputation and have to close.
I have a video somewhere of an old Volvo doing donuts on the old roundabout and pulling off the wrong direction only to stop behind a police van where the uniformed gentlemen promptly escorted him out of his car into the back of the van. There's a reason why everyone pulled off towards the arches lol
While they discourage WFH, and encourage commuting again, they’ll keep extending ULWZ for its cash raising abilities. ACE could be doomed. 😢
04:20 Was that Merc body-kit inspired by Bruce Forsyth.. good game, good game
😊he isnt worried about losing ulez battle, waiting to put pay per
Mile into action.
Thomas steals the show in his pink/purple JZX😊
love the content
keep it up 😄
We're already halfway there
As a fan of another mode of transport, the Ace is near one of the wonders of the North Circ - the aqueduct that carries the canal OVER one of the busiest roads in the UK. And no, no narrowboat burning rotting pallets and coal to keep warm is ULEZ compliant
