Thank you for this short list but I think it is important to state that we're to buy Soft pastels and not Oil based ones. I was lucky enough to blindly get soft pastels and later learned to stay away from oil ones.
Just wanted to say starting face ups is such a daunting experience, especially when you don't have a clue, breaking it down like you have is invaluable. Appreciate it
I think the Asian artists use a special paint but .. i m suspecting they don't want to let out what exactly it is..
Does a regular makeup airbrush work with that primer?
Thanks a lot!!!!
The aspect of getting into faceups that I find the most intimidating (and the reason I haven't tried my hand at it) is the health risk involved. I've heard all these horror stories of long-term illnesses as a result of unprotected sealant spraying, and experienced artists emphasising the need for proper masks and ventilation. I can't even find a mask that fits me (bought a N95 mask with filters for some housepainting recently and I could still smell through it, so I don't even know if it would protect me during a faceup), and I don't know if our apartment balcony offers enough ventilation. Maybe I'm just worrying too much and the health risks aren't that difficult to deal with?
i had a really nice kneaded eraser, and somehow my dog got a hold of it and ate it lol. so now i know if i start things like this i need to keep it away from the wiggle butt ^-^
thank you for showing us this! I ordered a doll, and I just found out it doesn't come with a face up. So this is very helpful!
I really wish you would have shown us how you did this beautiful face up.
Thank you. I recently got back in to BJD. I was a teen when I liked them, so I couldn’t afford them. Now that I’m an adult with a real job, I was hooked back in and want to try my hand at customization ahaha.
I legit found an airbrush and compresser for both under $70 combined on Offer UP spanking brand new. START THERE FOLKS. Also fabulous info! You're amazing thanks!
What an excellent and valuable video for beginners. This is a great asset for BJD hobbyists.
I’m just starting to do face ups and tattoos on my bjd’s and have a pretty daunting task of fully body tattoos haha. 😅
Hi, I really love your realistic faceups! This is what I'm aiming for, however I'm a complete beginner. This video is so helpful, thank you for sharing! If it's not a secret, would you mind telling us how you do those lovely freckles? Thanks a lot! :)
this is super cool! i did my first ever face up with pen because i was broke so i know how hard it is for begginers and this is an amazing tutorial!

Thank you so much for this video. It's exactly what I needed for where I'm at. Ver much appreciated. 🙏
Thank you, this is great information. I have just bought my first doll without a face up. Good to know I already have some of the items needed amongst my art supplies.
I absolutely love your voice and could listen to you for hours.
So utterly lovely of you to offer us such valuable advice and information! Thank you Ξανθή!
