Tharn is also a word in a fictional Lapine language used to describe an animal frozen in terror. In Richard Adams' novel "Watership Down" the term is used when the main characters, which are rabbits, see the headlights of oncoming cars and are frozen in place. #Radix
12:32 lyrics "the deafening throng, the rapturous ascent of lives left in forfeit, our last lament this selfish appraisal, lives lifted above, bereft of all love"
As if the top comments on this video aren't even anything to do with the song! This band/ song are one of the reasons I still have faith in modern music. The pure raw emotion and talent is something that needs to be heard more in music these days. If you like these guys check out Devil Sold His Soul or This Will Destroy You. Two amazing post rock/ metal bands. Peace & love.
I like this better than the original version of Dominion Theology. It just crushes the soul completely. Absolutely beautiful, and i'm always happy to hear Richard Dawkins :)
Basically the entire concept behind the band is about their interpretation of the events narrated in Watership Down. Efrafa is the name of a rabbit warren that appears in the book, Tharn is a word from the lapine language (rabbit's language), the same for Elil (which means "enemy"), etc. Hope that it's clearer now. :)
This song reminds me of all the tuff situations I’ve lived through and it reminds me that I’m still alive and reminds me not to give up Together we stand debited we fall
actually it is, the less the albums are recognized the harder is to get them i ordered albums from Altar of Plagues, Wolves in the Throne Room and i'm waiting for 2-3 months... the waiting is annoying, and there are older albums i can't order "sorry but we can't order this one cause of..." it sucks :(
despite of the screaming - absolutely over the top. Splitting while reaching the peak is the one thing, leaving a deep hole is the other. I love this song!
it's annoying when you wanna order the album from a local store and they can't order it.. damn bastards, it's always so hard for them to order/find this kind of rarities of metal, seems like they have to dig till their nails bleed and then to pull the albums from demons claws ... i bet if i order some shit rapper they would have the album in less than 3 days...bastards!
If I remember correctly, paper aeroplane is another group they collaborated with to "remix" the song 'dominion theology' from Elil into 'tharn'. Hope that helps.
It was me and my friend Luke Scott - we're friends with the band and lived near one another in Brighton, England. As an experiment we spent a year with the final mix of Dominion Theology and stems we got from the bands producer Peter Miles, re-arranging the song and adding loads of additional guitar, bass, drums, piano and cello to create this version. We also released the CD version on our own label the same time the LP came out.
Just put this on and haven't even heard it yet but I assume it's the same reason someone may not enjoy one song and enjoy another, basically personal taste. I don't see why that's hard to understand. It's okay if you like it and they don't.
It was alright, up until I heard him scream. Not my favorite style of screaming, as his alteration is very poor and I cannot hear what is said. Otherwise, decent song.
Personally I hardly ever like screaming. I was surprised to find myself liking this band's quite a bit. I thought about it and remembered the backstory to Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky" and how they told the singer to use her voice as an instrument. I realized that if you couldn't understand the words, it was doubling as an instrumental part and hearing the words wasn't essential.
This song brings tears to my eyes.

the entire band Fall of Efrafa is based off of the words used in Watership Down, the band was created specifically for that
I realize I'm kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good site to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Bishop Karson Lately I have been using flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Bishop Karson i watch on Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
Yes, the whole concept of Fall Of Efrafa is Watership Down. OWSLA/Elil/Inlé.

LivingInExile Yeah Tharn is the state in which the rabbits go when they are afraid. Basically, as our state of shock.
This song reminds me of all the tuff situations I’ve lived through and it reminds me that I’m still alive and reminds me not to give up

Absolute masterpiece.
Great song. From 6:20 onwards, the head cinema becomes really intense and unfolds into a pure drama.
Fuck how many feelings this song evokes when we are alone!
Oso ona!Greetings from Basque country
SENCILLAMENTE HERMOSO.
I love this masterpiece!
I love this song, the only bad thing about it is the fact it ends.
haha that's funny, I watched that because of my parents, and now my dad knows about this band because of me! what goes around comes around ;)
Cool cool. I love it.
This "mix" belong to the song from the "Elil" album, "Dominion Theology".
Simply i don't know the origin of this type of "mix" with the name "Tharn".
When that came out there were a lot of people who hadn't read the book and took their kids to see it...SURPRISE!
I saw it as a child. One of the best things that ever happened to me.

Ah, no, es un compás completo de silencio "tharn".

Who dared to dislike this?????? D:
from 6:23 on ...
From 0:00 on.
That would kill the soul of this song i think.
people who like better experience browsing the internet

This song deserves a better mixing, definitly.
