    About Joker:
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

@Kanary Fangs I agree. *"Carl Jung" said we all have a dark personality within us which he called as "The Shadow". This scene represents it in the way Arthur Fleck realises his dark self which was subconsciously hidden behind the mask of sanity. The shadow becomes more powerful the more it is suppressed by us. Arthur's mom told him to be happy while he never felt happiness which in turn made the Shadow more powerful. I don't consider this as just a movie. It's an art. Without Hildur it wouldn't be possible to make these scenes as powerful as they are now.*

As a professional dancer, this scene is very shocking to me and not because of his way of dancing, but what he transmits.
When he enters the bathroom, he does not know how to process the feeling of having committed a murder, so he begins to express it through a dance ritual. As the dance goes on, the Joker continues to dance but now in order to eliminate all the guilt he feels for killing those three people, and tries to convince himself that what he did is right. And finally, in the 1:18 minute we can see how unintentionally he ends up accepting evil in his soul and his movements begin to be faster and with confidence. All the feeling of guilt left, his ego rose, and his thirst for revenge is greater.
Finally, when he look himself in the mirror, there is no return. His soul was completely poisoned.

This scene freaked me out the first time because in my early freshmen year I was in martial arts and I would practice tai chi in the bathroom similar to this with some breathing techniques. Not to mention this was the year I was at my worst and I was heavily bullied upon at school while home was a bad environment too until it just stopped. I'm in my senior year and I'm glad to have grown and changed from those times, this scene was a reflection on that.

It’s not just there as a side dish. When the film goes quiet. The music fills the space. And the story is told through that.

When you lose everything you value. And you lose all hope for the future. And you no longer fear death but actually hope for it. This is the music you hear in your mind!

When I first saw this in theatres I thought he was going to slit his wrists. He is exposing them in a tragic and vulnerable yet beautiful and increasingly confident way that is this dance.
    I don't know how explain...

It could be said to be his coping. His acceptance of who he truly is. Throughout all his life Arthur was led to believe he was sick, had a disease, words that suppressed the joker within. It wasn’t until that event that Arthur became who he was always meant to be. The Joker. The Clown Prince Of Crime. The one who forever changed Gotham.

This scene is so beautiful and poetic to me. This is the moment Arthur's sanity finally cracks. His "one bad day". This is not only where he discovers the monster inside of him, but embraces it. During the late hours of the night, in a lonely Gotham City bathroom, this is where The Joker is born.

He embraced his shadow and was dancing with the Devil. It was at that moment he realized what he truly was, what had always been trying to surface under that crying. It was his shadow laughing at the evil thoughts he was thinking. The conflict and suppression : he embodied what he was told he was by the only person he trusted, the overbearing mother. When he wasn’t being “happy” or “good” a conflict arose. He didn’t trust or believe in himself until he danced with the devil. Guilt and remorse were not a concern to him, it felt good and empowering. He was a sociopath under the guise of a clown and didn’t initially know that.

You are watching a master at work. The music and the expression through dance are a metamorphosis of a man who has just lost what was left of his humanity. Sorrowful and weak the Joker is overtaken by the power of evil. The turn of the worm so to speak. This scene is for me one of the greatest moments in film.
