Sounds like a character I want to main because I’ve wanted a technical family member since Victims have characters like Connie and Danny. Do you even know what the definition of a dead game is? I don’t think you do. Devs also stated they have content planned passed December 25 2025 so no, it’s far from dead.

I tried playing the game again last week because I remember enjoying it, was fun for a while but then I realised every quick match was family (about 20 in a row) and after a while every survivor just grappled me whenever I was about to hit them and knocked me out?? No matter how hard I mashed I'd always lose. About 5 games of this happening in a row I just gave up
There was maybe a handful of people saying this game was going to match/kill DBD. I know me personally when I'm trying to "stay quiet" I say it out loud quite loudly just so anyone nearby can know I'm trying to "stay quiet"
At this point I'm actually pretty convinced that there won't ever be a game that truly matches or even kills DbD. Dead by Daylight was simply there at the right time. The devs, as incompetent as they are, did the right thing at the right moment and it gave them a huge ass safety net, that won't be broken. Even games that try to be a bit different, TCM with the three killers instead of just one, just can't reach it, it won't happen. At some point DbD might just die, because that's how things are, but I doubt it will lose the throne to a different game.
I remember when this game came out, I was calling out all the things that will possibly happen and was just hated to the ground. All of these happened, wondered where the fans are at now

There 30+ Killers and 40+ Survivors I can play, there more thing we can do in Dbd more than TCM and that the fact cause game already release since 2016 with a lot update in the past. Killers have to defense gen like TCM but we can't get random stun by Survivors or finish the object in front of us in 10 seconds, or they don't have well for teleport them to safe area immediately.

I mean it could have matched dbd if the devs didnt fumble it massively, I still love the game and I keep playing it way more than dbd but the updates come at a snails pace and usually break more things than it fixes lol
It couldn’t have lol. Only a game with a similar IP collection can ever hope to match dbd in the market. Dbd itself gets stale after a while, now imagine a game with fewer(by a lot) characters and same abilities/perks every single time?
@@johncanes5686 TCM is a much bigger IP than DBD. DBD has extremely shallow access to lots of different IPs, but in a practical sense, you're not really getting much content from those IPs. Like a killer power and a survivor skin, and if we're super lucky a map? TCM at least leans into that IP heavily.
@@nisvwo6445 it objectively is. TCM goes much deeper into the franchise than dbd does into any other franchise. They have a killer and a survivor, both of which basically operate in the same manner as all of the others, and then at most one map that VAGUELY resembles the original material.
It still has a chance, namely if they can fix the lobbies and release new family member soon. Increasing the family playerbase for this game would go a long way. If only they did more hotfixes though, it would help make the game feel more alive lol.
Ya know had the devs gave a shit and listened and maybe weren’t so greedy at the start and actually made the game more affordable at the start when the excitement was at an all time high this game very well could have grown much bigger imo.
Its not that nobody is playing, its just that the lobby systems are broken right now. Backfill doesn’t work most the time, there isn’t enough family players, and they need to make lobby dodging punishable or make less reasons for people to even dodge to begin with. If you play quick match though, strangely enough you’re going to mainly get victim and sometimes family, but the queue time goes down to waiting like 5 minutes or less for a match typically.
I think the problem with these so called "DBD Killers" is that these other games are franchised, while dbd is not. these franchise games can only add content that is already in its own universe, so they can't make new stuff. dbd on the other hand can make new stuff up without having to jump through legal hoops. They can also straight up just use other franchises stuff too if they get permission. TCSM and AOTED and Friday The 13th all have they same problem, they cant keep the content and the support going for legal reasons.
I play both, I have more hours in DBD, close to 2,000 hours. But I have around 200 on TCM. I started playing TCM this year, in my honest opinion I think TCM is still a really great game. Not a contender in player count with DBD, but it’s good game nonetheless.
I know it was for weird copyright reasons and it was no ones fault or choice, but I wish friday the 13th got more support instead of this game. For me it didn't replace DbD but it very nicely existed along side it. It never felt competitive and i had fun even when i wasn't playing as jason which was the main appeal. If I didn't feel like sweating on DbD, friday the 13th was a great substitute for that slasher multiplayer itch
All they had to do, was make getting family/victim random on match starts, and then have a team swap after match between people that had the highest points.
The problem at a lot of these games have is that they are based on a single franchise. There is only so much you can do with TCM or F13 whereas DBD has the benefit of releasing known horror icons and in house creations. Although saying that, despite its lack of support i do think F13 was the most fun of the bunch.
I'm sorry but this game, along with the Friday the 13th and Evil Dead ones are one-trick ponies, and could never truly compete with DBD. The appeal of Dead by Deadlight is its variety, be it maps, perks, characters, killers, which can cater and adjust to several different playstyles, and attract new players with every licensed chapter. Games surrounding a single license will get some noise around them when released, then a few months later once people get over the initial hype they'll drop it and go back to DBD. Also, with this game in particular I believe it was its own devs that put the nail on the coffin prematurely with how utterly greedy they are.
Funny. My friends tried this game and hated it. They made it sound like playing family was really hard, though. Zub's here winning 3 times in a row (assuming he isn't actually playing a bunch of other matches and editing the ones where he lost out, of course.)
Won’t ever beat dbd (in playerbase count) but I’ve been playing dbd since like 2018? And I enjoy tcm way more right now, could be winning or losing and I’m still having fun so I’ll keep playing
it’s bc they added noise following you, making survivor so boring….they didn’t even make anything new or progression outfits or like any customization for free.
I do enjoy TCM but the problem is you constantly run into the same people so it gets to a point where your just getting doged constantly and it ruins the enjoyment
Ngl tho I think that it js needs some time. This matches probably 2020 dead by daylight ngl. And I think in the future as they do better more will come, and others will go. Js like dead by daylight.

I never played it but the moment the game was called The texas chainsaw massacre it was destined to fail... As you can only put in content of that particular franchise. If you want to rival DBD you need to make a game that can put in all the licenses of other horror franchises also. Its sad DbD does not have a rival as they can still do whatever they want and get away with it.
This hallowed guy responding to every comment with insane amounts of copium. The devs killed their own game. They wanted it to "feel like the movies" aka everyone playing super inmersed which worked for a week. If they wanted a long lasting game, that is NOT how you do it
This game just has too much downtime in between action, and having to lock and unlock so many gates and doors as you pass by them as family just looks tedious and boring.
It’s a shame because the real reason why this game is not currently doing well is because of the devs. The game itself is very fun and addicting, but the devs are holding back it’s true potential by being a bunch of egotistical jackoffs! I truly believe this game could be something very special if the devs get there heads out of their own asses!
That’s he only crappy thing about the game is that it takes FOREVER to find a game. But I do find some decent games no cheating but yeah it does take forever.
Totally different games. I like tcm for the realism compared to dbd. Also having 3 killers is more fun if you play killer. Point is we need a little more content for texas. I have 3000 hours on dbd and that was enough for me. I prefer texas honestly more but dbd does have more stuff for sure.
I know the licensing of popular horror franchises does heavy lifting for DbD's popularity and survival but it honestly still baffles me how it hasn't been replaced by now.
Because another game can’t obtain the IPs while dbd is in a contract with them. The IP owners already have a good thing going with DBD, why risk it with another game that might flop? Only a game with a good collection of original characters that doesn’t rely on existing franchises can ever hope to match dbd now. Single IP games will run out of content and get stale too quickly to ever compete.
@LiterallyZackFair yeah, I know, I'm only saying that without beginning to make totally original content, there's only so much to take from that little series of films, and so inherently they would run out of new content, whereas because dbd takes from many franchises, it has a much longer "live service" life span
@@YukianesaDriveThat’s true, but something about Friday the 13th had a spark that neither Chainsaw Massacre or DBD have. Last time I had genuine fun on DBD was way back when Nemesis, Leon and Jill came out. Every match of Friday was so fun to me back when it was at its peak.

I wish one day, a game could just exist without having the purpose to kill another game, is that hard ?
I believe those are called single-player games
Every multiplayer game is gonna have competition and people are going to compare them. Accept it.
This is not devs promise tho, customers just keep calling them that
@@HeYKeiFeRExcept in this case, the Devs definitely field the whole "this will kill dbd" fued going on by trying to throw shade at DBD. The best games in the multi-player scenes are the ones not trying to kill each other but coexist and even encourage competition between each other. As we've seem so far, any game that tries to be the "enter game title" killer, it almost always flops. You can't make a fun game if the intention is simply to kill another one
Righttt
I still play this game everyday for hours with my buds since day one, just playing family. I guess it's just fun for me.
I personally love the game too
I agree, I play both victim and family and quick match has made the queue times very bearable. Funny enough, despite the discrepancy in the victim to family players ratio, I typically get victim way more often in quick match which is odd. This game isn’t dead yet, we’re just going to have to ride this one out, and see if they can fix all the bugs, release new good content, and improve the lobbies. If they can do that, then maybe this game will live.
@@hallowedchromee310 im just milking every last second of enjoyment I can get out of this game before it's too late. It's a blast and idc what anyone says
@@soakyarchive8788 I still got hope! The new mechanic family member looks very very promising. And might be exactly what we need to revive the family community. He has perks for anti-lockpick spamming, and seems like he can break barricades like Leatherface too, as well as being immune to grapples similarly. Sounds like a character I want to main because I’ve wanted a technical family member since Victims have characters like Connie and Danny. The update he comes out in also seems to be introducing new general perks for all victims and family members, which means we might be getting skill tree updates for previous characters which is nice too, either that or its a separate update. I’m praying that they deliver
Game is fun if you have a group pf friends to play with. Family is unplayable solo since most people refuse to comunicate , and victim gets old fast (at least for me)
This game had massive potential to be fair... developers just failed to follow through on so many issues
It's sad that the developers have forever said since release they don't want to be compared to dbd, yet people do it anyways.
NOTHING will ever beat dbd. It's like comparing a smash like game to smash bros.
Nothing will ever beat dbd except its incompetent devs and its vile toxic fandom xd

But diarrhea is easier to swallow

It sucks what happened to that game, had a hopeful future with Jason X on the horizon but got shelved because of a lawsuit that is till going on, hopefully once the legal limbo is over the game can get updated again.
it's a shame this game died cuz it's genuinely good
it was until you realize how childish the devs really got, it was pretty annoying.
its far from dead right now
Do you even know what the definition of a dead game is? I don’t think you do. Devs also stated they have content planned passed December 25 2025 so no, it’s far from dead.
Nobody say this about Killer Klowns, maybe itll last longer than a year
We're on like the 8th asysim game dying. I doubt any more contenders will last long.
Killer Klowns will have a Klowillion players
ive not seen anyone talk about it i bet itll flop
Yeah unfortunately it has no hype so probably will be a niche game at best
Million percent will flop.
They had a gem and people loved it but the devs got greedy and turned out to be utter a-holes that never listened.
I had a short run with the game but I enjoyed the time I had. I tried to get my friends to play but they never wanted to get on.
It takes me 6 minutes to load into a victims game just to have a missing family member so I have to leave bc it’s bugged so no one can rejoin. Hate this game sometimes
I tried playing the game again last week because I remember enjoying it, was fun for a while but then I realised every quick match was family (about 20 in a row) and after a while every survivor just grappled me whenever I was about to hit them and knocked me out?? No matter how hard I mashed I'd always lose. About 5 games of this happening in a row I just gave up
it's based on how much health they have, if they've got more than half health and you're not johnny, they are basically guaranteed to win it.
There was maybe a handful of people saying this game was going to match/kill DBD. The overwhelming majority were saying how this game would only last for a few months at best, which is what has happened.
4:13 good to see they still haven't changed that. I know me personally when I'm trying to "stay quiet" I say it out loud quite loudly just so anyone nearby can know I'm trying to "stay quiet"
they is clearly a person of misstrust and deceit
At this point I'm actually pretty convinced that there won't ever be a game that truly matches or even kills DbD.
Dead by Daylight was simply there at the right time. The devs, as incompetent as they are, did the right thing at the right moment and it gave them a huge ass safety net, that won't be broken.
Even games that try to be a bit different, TCM with the three killers instead of just one, just can't reach it, it won't happen.
At some point DbD might just die, because that's how things are, but I doubt it will lose the throne to a different game.
TMC lmao
@@MultiSneakerLover God damn it xD
Left 4 Dead would have been a great competitor, too bad Valve never released a new one 💔
I think dbd will adapt throughout the years and who knows the franchise might never die
Gun: “I lied when I told you we would make a phenomenal game”
I remember when this game came out, I was calling out all the things that will possibly happen and was just hated to the ground. All of these happened, wondered where the fans are at now
Dbd used to have incredibly long lobby times too until they finally got it together. Tcm is not even a year old and dbd is like 6 years old lol
The games only fun for family with friends. You’d get better and maybe more fun results if you played with your homies. I personally still enjoy the game
Listen the second I bought Friday the 13th, Last year the nightmare, this game from Ash vs evil dead (40€) and others that promised to be the replacement for dbd and they weren´t, I knew for a fact that this game wouldn´t be it either
I really like at first it have a lot potential. But game balance and fun only have on Victim side and it bored really fast. As Victim you can try going around, hide, rush or juking Family like Dbd. But Family only walking around defense objective and easy get detroy if 2-3 Victim rush to you keep stunt and do objective in front of you.
Why are you acting like dbd isnt the exact same miserable experience
@@tedtheodore5715 Because it not miserable much as TCM.
It’s a fun game.. tbh, dbd took ages for me back in the days to find a lobby. 30+ minutes, it was insane
this game is rough for new people. especially victim. they get matched with family who have hundreds of hours.
Family will load up and see 3 level 0s and 1 level 10 and be like “ok let’s have the most sweatiest game ever. Don’t let them out the basement. Don’t have fun. Kill them all in 30 secs.” Where to as victim when we load up and see 2 level 0 and 1 level 10. We tend to troll and have fun. Family mains be sweating so bad.
@@crewd00dThat just isn't true
@@nisvwo6445 it objectively is. TCM goes much deeper into the franchise than dbd does into any other franchise. They have a killer and a survivor, both of which basically operate in the same manner as all of the others, and then at most one map that VAGUELY resembles the original material.
it makes me so sad to see TCM flop like this
It still has a chance, namely if they can fix the lobbies and release new family member soon. Increasing the family playerbase for this game would go a long way. If only they did more hotfixes though, it would help make the game feel more alive lol.
Ya know had the devs gave a shit and listened and maybe weren’t so greedy at the start and actually made the game more affordable at the start when the excitement was at an all time high this game very well could have grown much bigger imo.
if you have friends to mess around with in lobbies, its still a great time, but its hard to deny no one is really playing this game
I honestly still play tcm, find it funn still, as long content is consistent
The funny thing is, f13 would have, if there wasnt a lawsuit.
A game like this would be insane as a first person VR experience.
Them getting rid of cross play is why there aren’t that many players. Gutted the playerbase
Does anyone remember the guy who quit dbd to play this game religiously and swore it wasn’t going to fall off.
Who was it again?
@@sooz6092 that’s what I’m asking😭
Incompetent developers, that was the death of this game.
At least this game had a decent community that doesn’t try to gaslight and are mean spirited to others
It's because Texas chainsaw doesn't have enough things to base a full ass game on it
It was a lot of fun, the devs just dont know how to handle an IP this big.
Won’t ever beat dbd (in playerbase count) but I’ve been playing dbd since like 2018? And I enjoy tcm way more right now, could be winning or losing and I’m still having fun so I’ll keep playing
This game had amazing potential.
Ill start playing again once they nerf hitchhiker
Just like Friday the 13th..a game with potential, destroyed by its own creators . DBD can never be replaced.
it’s bc they added noise following you, making survivor so boring….they didn’t even make anything new or progression outfits or like any customization for free.
I didnt even know this game got new maps
I do enjoy TCM but the problem is you constantly run into the same people so it gets to a point where your just getting doged constantly and it ruins the enjoyment
not really surprised. i knew this was gonna happen
Call a game the X and Y killer, it’s cursed
Who’s we? I remember it was supposed to go against Friday the 13th
DBD is in the same spot as WoW. They've each defined a genre of game so much that the only way they're dethroned is ceasing services.
no one said it was gonna match dbd except dbd players
the matchmaking is the biggest flaw its awful. Takes 30 minutes to find a game.
Ngl tho I think that it js needs some time. This matches probably 2020 dead by daylight ngl. And I think in the future as they do better more will come, and others will go. Js like dead by daylight.
just because you don’t keep up with the development team’s plans, it doesn’t mean the game is dead lmao. the game has a new team behind it. once they get the ball rolling, it’ll be laughable to criticize its longevity

Loved the game want to play more. Lobby time made me stop playing simple as that.
I know it’s been said before but I don’t think a game like this ever will match dbd. Dbd can bring in anyone. They are only tied to one license.
The second i heard of this game i knew it was going to be another fail like friday the 13th or the evil dead
Lazy developers taking ages to fix tons of issues killed the game for me. Got the plat trophy then dipped
Aggressive Yelling.
i remember that time xdd
DBD will be its own destroyer
Anyone mentioning stunlocking is probably 5 years old
This hallowed guy responding to every comment with insane amounts of copium. The devs killed their own game. They wanted it to "feel like the movies" aka everyone playing super inmersed which worked for a week. If they wanted a long lasting game, that is NOT how you do it
Worst devs I've seen in a very long time; they made a great product, but kept it up with spit and shit promises
I played two matches on day 1 xbox game pass. I said that sucked and immediately uninstalled.
Watch out for the next game. Delulu ppl will call that a dbd replacement as well. They try so hard to make dbd die out😂
No they don't. They try to make a good game, noone wants to kill DBD.
DBD is killing itself overtime, so..
It’s literally the Overwatch of asymmetrical horror games.
Even dbd for some people is getting stale and boring like its sbmm. I think tcm can make a comeback. Look at dbd long que times back in the day.
I enjoyed this game when it came out but fan into so many hackers :(
Totally different games.
Texas chainsaw massacre has even less potential for growth than the friday the thirteenth game did, both of which are infinitely dwarfed by dbd's.
Friday The 13th was massive, that game was definitely on track to at least rival dbd but the devs fumbled.
@Ashagagal i dunno about that. Inherently, there is only so much content to add because of the constraints of the movie franchise
Friday the 13th was doing great until the lawsuit happened. 💀
The gameplay is better though same with the graphics the reasoning for the que times is they dropped a victim but no family member so everybody playing victim atm when the family member drops it’ll sort it out
How does he blur the game without blurring chat and facecam? Is he doing that during stream or?
a tcm video? i never thought i'd see one again
Its a little sad. Cuz i think this game is way better and more fun than dbd.
Man, do people really still think this game has potential to compare to DbD? That had to be some of the most boring gameplay I've seen in a while, and it certainly wasn't Zubat's fault.
I had so much fun playing tcm but it definitely doesn’t come close to dbd for me
