We used fine mesh chicken wire to lay the glue & paper/cardboard on at school, for stuff like this, it makes it more sturdy. I'd weigh the base down or attach the legs to a concrete (painted) base as it looks like it would knock over easily if my cat's were playing on & around it
thanks. wood glue and Cardboard is enough to harden the Base and gives a perfect weight too, specially if u dry it Correctly or put into direct sunlight. until now i dont see any Problem or Changing shape. nextime i will upload the update to show how my Cat loves her bed so much everynight like a Princess. thanks for the idea.
Excellent video, and a fantastic finished result. Wonderful idea, and as others have said, it is big enough for more than one full grown cat. I really love this idea. Thank you for a brilliant diy tutorial. 🤗🌹💕
So beautiful 😻 Best one I have seen and I absolutely love that you did this with your daughter!! Giving her an amazing experience and skills for life. Well done mom!! I am totally going to make one myself.
Just what I was looking for, I happen to have 2 stray kittens, and I have an exercise ball, a gallon container of glue, and heavy brown paper I was going to try, but, I'm going to use cardboard now that I see the strength of cardboard. Goodness knows I have enough Amazon cardboard boxes in the attic, I usually save for container gardening. This is big enough for 2 cats when they are fully grown. My two sleep together they are so bonded. I hope your kitten gets a playmate and someone to share the comfy cat bed. Beautiful just being a center piece~
thanks. this planter stand is enough for the adult Cat until now our charlotte really loves to sleep and rest here without any Problem in Balance or weight.
You did a fantastic job on this. I know this is an old video, but it just came up in my feed. Your kitten is darling. I'm thinking you'll have to make one big enough for your daughter. LOL. How are your daughter and kitty doing? Bless you and happy new year.
Ang galing talaga..wala akong ibang masabi twing nakikita ko mga gawa mo ate che.. Talagang napapa wow ako. Nakakahanga yung talento mo. Lawak ng imahinasyon, daming alam. 💖💖💖
How does she not burn her fingers pressing that thin fabric with hot glue?! Also very cute and creative, and smart to put it in a corner to prevent tipping. A wider base or weight might help.
It looks great! The only thing I am afraid of is the smell, last time I used that kind of glue with cardboard the smell after a year was so strong I had to trash it. Maybe as it is covered with fabric this doesn’t happen? I would love to know 😊
Awesome idea and work! I wonder sturdy this would be? Maybe adding more layers would help? I have 3 Maine Coons so everything here is dog size and weights. Thanks for sharing this awesome ideas!🙀👏👏👏👏👏😻
You could finish it with two layers of poly urithane. (You know, the stuff everybody uses these days for kitchen counters etc.) Would make it water resistant too.
LOL, put a smile on my face, aren't they about the largest cats around? Some are massive! When dry this technique is hard as nails, esp if you finish it with water-based shellac, before putting on the finish material. I've done projects using heavy brown paper and even that is like wood when finished. I'm having a different base, the ball sets into.
Did u just break the cardboard into smaller pieces? Or did u actually separate the layers of thr cardboard apart to make it malleable? Or did u just soak the pieces of the cardboard that long until it was like paper, even with all the layers together? I dont know if im making sense to anyone who wiuld read this
Wow! It's so beautiful! Is glue from a glue gun strong enough to hold the fabric together? My cat would scratch the heck out of the fabric and probably rip it apart. Still, I"m curious and want to make this.
Haven’t watched yet but just throwing this out there. I have several metal fans from Lowe’s that quit working and I keep thinking each side could be repurposed for a base for plants, nothing heavy but many moss on the bottom and something nestled in there strung up with the three chain hanger . I also thought about a cat bed , or rabbit bed bc it’s getting cooler and everyone likes to snuggle down. These are metal and about 20” across. Just curious if anyone has any ideas so I’m off to watch.
You have just opened my mind up to some previously discarded ideas. I feel somewhat foolish for not having thought of this myself. Thank you for sharing your idea in these comments. Love it!
@@sweetlifetv5304 oh my god yes i actually skipped that part trying to find the cat inside it this was sooo sweet i loved it so so much thank you so much for the idea i will do it for all my cat and outside my house so stray can also enjoy it

Let's think about this for a minute here. They actually told you it was the glue smell that kept them from using it? I'm sorry it didn't work out for you but your comment is completely out of line and just incredibly foolish. You can't make such absurd assumptions and then post your nonsense in the comments of a video someone took a good chunk of their time to make and share with the world. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you but as an, "OG cat lady", I would think you should know that cats can be finicky and sometimes need a bit of time to start using new things. I am kinda wondering if you didn't like the smell of glue and just assumed they wouldn't like it because of that. Seriously, you sound 🤯

Unless it stays propped against the wall it's going to fall right over.. should have used dowels for legs
how many layers of paper mache did you apply?
i think 5x

That base is not stable. First time kitty climbs in it'll fall over and they'll never go near it again.
the weight of this bed is enough to handle the balance. i dont see any problem even once.
That's not fucking easy lol!
its really Easy to make! Specialy when u hav dedication to make Something Different!
Messy. Useless base stand, but there’s a good idea here.
thanks!
I dont think that cats like the smell of glue
