Thank you for all of this!! Best in depth explination of the pillars from the people who made it! Im new to Astronomy/Astrophotography and of course this picture is the holy grail. I also do 3D printing, and of course I Printed an 8" scale model of your stl with the base. It now lives on my desk at work. I get so many questions/compliments on it and usualy starts a 20 minute convo of me spewing space facts and showing off my astro pics. (excellent use of company time haha!) I subscribed to the channel and will be following. Keep the info coming, Im soaking it all in!
I do astrophotography. My sister asks what she's looking at (with my nebula photos). An easy lay answer eludes me. The beginning of this (and at 1:16 in Q&A) gives a pretty "easy " to understand basis. I also do photo, and video editing, (rendering) you guys blow my mind! At 45 degrees north, I've been photographing the Eagle for the last month with the few clear hours afforded to me. To actually see the pillars in my photos is joyous for me. THANKS 😅
Science explanation at its best. Yes, the 3D simulation was a WOW, but its impact stands on Dr. Summers' layer by layer of scientific info throughout the presentation. For a non-scientist who can only witness findings, I'm changed in how I see first images because from a talk like this one, I know that there is much more to the reality.
Thank you. This nicely expresses one of the important reasons I do these visualizations and talks - to help others see what an astronomer sees in these magnificent images.
