I am 62 (but like you, look and feel 32 😜) I am Scottish but live in France and I now find myself really looking forward to your video posts as 1) You are a good laugh and fun to watch/listen to 2) We look for the same things in clothing and 3) I often order clothes from U.K. stores (have them delivered to my son/daughter-in-law as clothing here is poor quality believe it or not but also really expensive) but what I love about you is you describe the fabrics really well and when ordering online I never really know what the fabric feels like, how it hangs etc. Your cooking and “day in the life of Helen” videos are great too. I can’t sew a stitch to save myself but if I could I’d have a go at your cushion…it’s absolutely gorgeous. Thankyou Helen - keep on doing what you do. 👌🏼

Hi Helen, just wanted to let you know that I immediately ordered the lovely blue and white George dress you modelled (the one with the bow at the back of the neck). I think it's a stunning dress and I can't believe it was only £18. I'll tuck the ties inside the dress mostly, but I'll leave them on as I think the dress could easily be worn for a wedding and the bow would look nice. Anyway,thanks get much for the recommendation, it was fab.
Helen, firstly let me say, you might not read this but I just want to say, you are a lovely elegant lady with a fantastic sense of humour which makes me laugh. After watching this haul, in your hall 😂 it strikes me that you are very very confident but a bit unconfident when you try on beach wear etc. Believe me, I think I can speak for a lot of your subscribers, you look fab, you have a lovely figure and you are like a model for woman of a certain age if you know what I mean. The cushion you made is fabulous, looking forward to see how you done it if you make another one. I can sew, made lots of clothes for myself and family over the years ( I am 73 in September) but don’t feel or look my age APPARENTLY 😂 but I haven’t made anything for years. My granny had a singers sewing machine that had a drawer underneath and she kept buttons in it. Our treat when we visited was to take home a button when we stayed over before leaving next day. Happy memories ❤

Love your videos Helen. I also have the B/W v-neck Matalan top. I have the M&S denim joggers from your previous video, which are super comfy, and I agree that M&S have some great pieces this season for us more mature ladies. I, too, am a size 18, 5ft 7ins and over 65. Thank goodness for the longer length swimsuits this year, as I also need the longer body styles. I try to buy classic pieces that flatter my shape and find lots of the pieces you try on are just my style too. Thank you for your lovely, informal chats and sharing your thoughts and ideas with us like minded ladies. Am currently planning outfits for a Baltic cruise next month and finding your hauls really helpful. xx
Wow, that cushion is amazing. I also ordered some of the stretch thread that your followers suggested, I have yet to shorten the sleeves on my running tops (I am tiny and sleeves are a real bug bear to me) but I’m so pleased that you say it works, thank you 🧵🧵🧵
I’m the same age as you Helen and love fashion and I love how you keep current dress wise. I know when we were young clothes were more expensive and I never had as many clothes as I have now . Same for underwear so cheaper these days. Iv never had so many clothes as I have now but have to be careful that I don’t look a bit mutton lol not that I care what people think anymore x

I think Shifley is a German Shiffli embroidery machine that used two needles to embroider the fabric one needle on top and one on the bottom. We were told that at school when in the sewing department. They spelling might be wrong. I love your hauls no matter where from. The cushion you made is beautiful. You are one amazing lady
Love the black jacket, you did try a navy one on from M&S last year that was almost £50. I really liked it and fortunately for me when I was looking for it I got it in the sale for half price. I was in the right place at the right time. I do get a lot of wear out of it as it is nicer than a hooded top and less dressy for jeans.
For cover stitch, I use a twin needle with stretchy nylon in the bobbin. Use the regular straight stitch setting a little longer than usual (instead of 2.5 go up to a 3 or 3.5). Loosen the pressure foot tension u til you get the look you want. It works great.

Beautiful cushion - well done! Nice haul, like both striped tees, and the skirt too, but I think it would look a little better an inch or two shorter. The white eyelet top is really nice too, but my fave was the black and tan dress.

Great video - loved the broderie anglaise top - in fact the whole haul looked a success bar a couple of the shorter sleeved tops. The cushion gave me an idea as I bought a charity dress which turned out to be too short but I loved the brocade fabric so now I know what to restyle it as! Thank you - until the next one. X
Well Helen I like anything with a stripe!! The bomber looks good especially with a collar. I quite like the poppers instead of a zip. With regard to the short sizing I like this as it accentuates the waist and gives shape but that suits me as i am petite. I love the pop over top, it’s fresh and crisp. Very classy, for the money it’s a steal and a keeper. I think all colours suit you. Thanks for sharing xx

The white top over with a bright colour bra on with shoes/sandals the same colour as the bra would look amazing. Fab haul today, bomber jacket was fab, dresses look fab too. Keep them coming. ❤

Yes I liked all the clothes, stripe top, red dress and the sweatshirt has a beautiful shine to it, it looked exspensive. Today its almost 60° F but got a little chilly during the partial eclipse we had. Glad Mum is doing good.... I have my Mums button box that has alot of my grandmother's buttons in it. Helen that cushion looks fantastic. You must do a cushion video at some point. They are so expensive to buy and non would look so smart as yours. My Mum had a huge tin of buttons too and I am very lucky to have it. I just love buttons. I thought the haul was excellent. Tops were great. Even the dresses looked fine and I did like the bomber jacket. It fitted you perfectly. I will have to investigate although my daughter says don’t wear black Mum it makes you look drained. My pleasure. I think most people can wear black if they have something bright near to the face, like a scarf or a collar. But then I don't have sallow skin... haha xx
I love your hauls! I think the bomber jacket would be gorgeous with an uncollared top underneath. I think it'd be nice with a graphic tee and denims, or with white jeans. The dresses wereboth elegant and chic on you. I think your sweatsywould look gorgeous with a dark green, or wine lounge pants. Black can be a 'lazy' option that works against you when you want to look sharp, but a colour-injection looks more intentional, and more levelled-up. You could also try putting shoulderpads under liungewear tops to give a more tailered look. Loungewear also look great under a blazer or overcoat, if you want comfort while out touring/sightseeing/shopping. ❤

Helen , I love button tins. My nan used to have a big but to run and as a child I loved rummaging through it, she always cut buttons of everything before she recycled cloths. Great video - loved the broderie anglaise top - in fact the whole haul looked a success bar a couple of the shorter sleeved tops. The cushion gave me an idea as I bought a charity dress which turned out to be too short but I loved the brocade fabric so now I know what to restyle it as! Thank you - until the next one. X

Well Helen I like anything with a stripe!! The bomber looks good especially with a collar. I quite like the poppers instead of a zip. With regard to the short sizing I like this as it accentuates the waist and gives shape but that suits me as i am petite. I love the pop over top, it’s fresh and crisp. Very classy, for the money it’s a steal and a keeper. I think all colours suit you. Thanks for sharing xx

Hi Helen. We will be off to the Isle of Wight for the summer in a few weeks time, so a trip to Matalan is on the cards! I love the red abd white dress. I think it looks fine just without a belt. I may even order it before it sells out. Love the white shirt. Very smart to tuck into black jeans if the tummy will bear it, which mine doesn't!😅. Nice cushion. Looks very professional. I can't sew. Today its almost 60° F but got a little chilly during the partial eclipse we had. Glad Mum is doing good.... I have my Mums button box that has alot of my grandmother's buttons in it. I could never get rid of them even though I never use them! I'm 68 Helen.... I've got to start getting rid of junk sometime hahaha

Helen that cushion looks fantastic. You must do a cushion video at some point. They are so expensive to buy and non would look so smart as yours. My Mum had a huge tin of buttons too and I am very lucky to have it. I just love buttons.
I thought the haul was excellent. Tops were great. Even the dresses looked fine and I did like the bomber jacket. It fitted you perfectly. I will have to investigate although my daughter says don’t wear black Mum it makes you look drained. Sadly I have a sallow completion. Look forward to the next hall haul and bread recipe. I love your hauls! I think the bomber jacket would be gorgeous with an uncollared top underneath. I think it'd be nice with a graphic tee and denims, or with white jeans. The dresses wereboth elegant and chic on you. I think your sweatsywould look gorgeous with a dark green, or wine lounge pants. Black can be a 'lazy' option that works against you when you want to look sharp, but a colour-injection looks more intentional, and more levelled-up. You could also try putting shoulderpads under liungewear tops to give a more tailered look. Loungewear also look great under a blazer or overcoat, if you want comfort while out touring/sightseeing/shopping. ❤

Hi Helen surprisingly good selection from Matalan looks good on camera, You’d need to feel the quality .
I'd say it's all good. The dresses are a lightweight viscose, but other than those I think it was all pretty good. xx

Helen , I love button tins. My nan used to have a big but to run and as a child I loved rummaging through it, she always cut buttons of everything before she recycled cloths.
In fact I have a button tin with sets of interesting one from old cloths I've recycled too. 😂😂
