    It will save lives and prevent injuries. Just last year, after hearing about a local farmer being killed in a silo I said "Somebody should invent something to help prevent that." Glad there are options now.

    This is cool, I'm not even a farmer and I want one. I wonder if my Roomba would get jealous if I brought another into the house?🤣🤣🤣In all seriousness; I truly think this product will save lives by keeping farmers out of grain bins.

      From what I’m reading on their website you can book their service by filling out a bunch of stuff and waiting a long time for them to come out and manage your bin. I can’t find anything on a price or anything else and it’s been over 2 years. I wouldn’t have too much hope on this little guy

  • @TheCAPITALgenius

    Is it remote controlled or ai operated. In a half full bin like the one on the video you’d still have to climb into the bin to get the robot out. Does it take temperature or moisture readings?

    Could someone please explain the purpose of the robot? I’m interested in farming and ranching, but I’m not familiar with grain storage. Is this to keep the crop exposed to air, to allow airflow and prevent mold, or is there some other purpose?

    • @robot538
      @robot538 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep and also to break up clumps and level the grain

    • @plmmoknijb
      @plmmoknijb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most likely it will be in the unloading of the bin. As the grain exits the bin, there comes a point where the grain needs pushed down from the sides of the bin. There is a danger in the unloading process of the grain forming a crust and not flowing properly until it has weight put on it. This cause entrapment of a person if they happen to be that weight. A robot would replace the person.

      I'm a bin builder .to answer your question. This robot in my opinion is nothing more than a toy.
      I do agree the power sweep auger is dangerous. I know many farmers who have died or were injured by this device. The power sweep is designed to operate without going into a bin but lots of farmers go 8n the bin with the power sweep on .
      The reason they get injured is they dont follow saft requirements.

    • @GailColeman
      @GailColeman ปีที่แล้ว

      Often in colder weather, frost can help form a crust and if you try
      to go in and free that up, and you are NOT tied off to the outside, the crust can give way quickly and you get sucked down. Had a good friend and neighbor lose a son in his twenties that way. He and another young man both killed that time. Very tragic!

    • @VattuLandia

      But doesnt the mountain shape provide more surface area=more chilling? Sorry if this sounds stupid, we live in different countries and we have our own ways of doing things. Also, it has been like 10 years since i left the field of agriculture so many of this stuff has already faded from my mind :D

    • @margovincent22x
      @margovincent22x 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VattuLandia since the chilled air is from the bottom, the air will exit in the least resistance. Meaning it will go to the sides and will not chill the mountain part. It will chill the mountain part but not enough or it will be inefficient.

    • @grainweevil
      @grainweevil 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it autonomous or does need to be controlled manually? How much does it weigh? Who wants to lugg that device up a big bin? Can it fit in a book bag? How long does a charge last? Does it return to the manhole when your done if it is autonomous? And finally what does it cost?

    • @grainweevil
      @grainweevil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Current beta testing models are controlled manually - primary tasks will be autonomous before we hit the market. The current model weighs 28 pounds - and our portable version has a backpack + winch system to raise and lower it to the hatch from the ground as well as to the grain surface. It will return to the winch/docking system and return to the base station autonomously when the task is done or battery needs recharged. Current version operates just at 2 hours give or take based on grain and task. We currently do not have a final price but are shooting for around $4,500 plus an optional annual service/maintenance fee for advanced features and tailgate service.

      Cavities can form below the grain surface. If they give way, the farmer sinks and the grain may completely engulf and crush/suffocate them.
